Circa early 1900 French Louis Philippe burl walnut veneer commode with marble surface top, 3 sided marble splash and fully hinged drop down top, when closed conceals the marble. Has inset single pane. Flat glass mirror on the underside of the top. The commode has four full width drawers with wood keyholes. Commode is complete with one working key. Which works as a pull to help open the drawers. Original key is available but broken. Owner purchased in 1984 in Paris. France. Size is 31" wide, 18" deep, 35 ½" tall. Professional Appraised Value in 1996 at $900. CONDITION: Commode is in good vintage condition. Clean, strong and solid. Gorgeous patina and wood tone. It is an Renaissance Revival dresser with a beautiful arch crown atop a large rectangular mirror. There are lamp shelves flanking the mirror scrolling corbels on top. The base has 4 spacious drawers and is topped with marble. The marble drawer tops have a ¼ bevel edge while the center marble piece is inset. There are small pits from age in the inset marble in the ... morecenter. There are no breaks or fractures that I can see in any of the marble pieces. The drawers have brass and wood drop pulls. The dresser sits on steel casters. The mirror is in great condition. We do not know the maker or exact date it was made. This piece is antique and will not be perfect. The over all height is 95 inches by 46 ¾ inches from side to side and 20 ¾ inches from front to back. The dresser weighs 203 pounds. Pennsylvania c. 1805-20 Four graduated drawers flanked by chamfered columns over splayed French feet Item# 1301PYP21PZ While the Hepplewhite form employing splayed french feet in case pieces is well developed. Even common, this chest exudes a certain strength that is uncommon in Federal period works of the Hepplewhite style. The solid walnut and solid poplar construction gives it inordinate weight, but the intense lift of the feet, raising the apron sharply in the corners, eliminates the heaviness of the look. The projecting top is crafted of two boards, the last 3/4" along the front actually a continuation of the front of the chest up through ... morethe top, a somewhat unusual and perhaps unique construction method. Surrounding this is a dropped and applied molding over four graduated drawers. These with molded lips of the solid, each framed with hand dovetailed poplar boards with a deeply chamfered poplar bottom sliding into rabbets in the frame and tacked at the back with square nails. The dovetailing method is somewhat original, using very large dovetails at the front, smaller dovetails at the back, the lowest back dovetail squared on it's lower edge to receive the drawer bottom in the rabbet cut. Flanking these drawers are chamfered columns on either side. Both sides of the case are single solid planks of walnut. Incredibly large boards with wonderful grain appearance. Five vertical poplar boards line the back of the case, these entirely undisturbed and nailed in neat rows, the boards on the far left and right sides continuing all the way to the ground. As a result of this construction method, the feet are in simply outstanding stable condition, despite the incredible weight being supported. Beautiful walnut veneer adorns the middle of the door and three drawers. All drawers have deep dovetailing. In the late 1800's the commode provided the wash-up and refresh area. Behind the door area is room for the water pitcher. The matching basin or bowl. Soap dish, vase and other items were displayed on the marble top. The distinctive brass hardware is original. The heavy marble top lifts off and could be centered better than it is in this picture. The marble has several small filled holes near the back, where a splash-back piece would have been attached to the top. This commode is small and compact and provides good storage. It measures 35 X 17 inches and stands ... more31 inches high. It is on rollers and can be easily moved. A very fine antique. Circa 1870's, carved walnut Renaissance/Neo Grec marble top pier mirror. There are incised lines with the original gilt decoration. Very imposing carved crest and finials, and base, with palmettes. The unit measures 9'4" 112" tall by 37" wide by 13-1/2" deep. The mirror measures 71" tall by 23-1/4" wide. Excellent condition: original finish, walnut without chips or crack. The original back support for the stand with mirror frame is missing, and replaced with plain wood boards. The marble is without cracks, chips, or stains. The mirror has no damage, two minor backing spots.

It would have had another small piece below the shelf, but that is missing and all you can see is the lighter shade mark where it would have been. The good thing is that you are able to see the painted insert better without that piece. The wood looks like walnut. ... moreBut I am not an expert at determining these things. It appears to have the original finish. Although it is quite worn and generally a bit distressed, but the shelf is in sound condition. There is also that missing piece that I mentioned previously. The painting has an aged, crackled and mottled appearance. There are two eyelet holes on either side of the side brackets to hang the unit on the wall. Measurements of the shelf are 20" width x 6-1/2" depth and it has a height of 9-5/8" The shelf weighs 2 pounds 1 ounce. The wood is in great shape. 41 1/2 W x 20 1/2 D x 37 1/2 H This would be for a person that wants to have a project and have the satisfaction seeing the results when finished. Does need work. This is a rather uncommon piece of late Victorian furniture. A carved Walnut lock side lingerie chest. Locksides(sometimes called Sidelocks) were. Although uncommon by themselves, were generally executed as larger chests of drawers, more typically a dresser or chest. This piece is a lingerie chest with a beveled mirror(excellent condition) top with heavily carved crest and framework with pierced carved supports. Rather an overall organic motif with an Eastlake influence. Base has 4 deep drawers with a hinged locking panel(no key) along the right side. I purchased from a Birmingham, AL estate; those folks were career military, were stationed in Italy; they purchased the pieces there from an antique shop; brought them back tot he states when they returned. Mirrored back and glove boxes lift off the marble top dresser. Marble also lifts off and it weighs a ton. 3 of the 4 drawers have their original locks. Renaissance Revival style washstand with a black marble top and a matching mirror made in Austria circa 1870. They are in very good condition. Please check the photos as these pieces do have some minor flaws. The washstand has 2 doors and 2 drawers. It is 42” wide. 20.5” deep, and 30” tall to the marble surface in front. The marble shelf is 4.75” from the top which makes the overall height 34.5”and the shelf is 16” from the leading edge of the marble shelf to the front of the washstand. There is a drilled hole in the center of the marble shelf for mounting the mirror. The Mirror Frame is 30” wide at the top and 37.5” wide at the bottom. The mirror frame is 43.25” tall. Eastlake Victorian Walnut Dresser With White Marble Top, Diamond Dust Mirror
This is a really nice old Eastlake Victorian dresser. It is in remarkably good condition. The drawers have the pegged scolloped rabbet joint very typical of the 1870's. The drawer bottoms are all original and in good condition. The top drawer which got a lot more use than the other drawers was worn on the bottom so its sides have been added onto to make them the proper size. The knobs have been replaced. But there is just one hole in the drawer indicating that the original pulls were single knobs. More pictures can be made available upon request for such things as I just described. This dresser is 98 inches tall to the top of the mirror. The dresser base is 26 inches tall to the top of the marble and it is 46 inches wide. The depth from front to back is 20-1/2 inches. 1800's Walnut Tilting Shaving Mirror for Top Of Dresser
Here is a very early 1800's wooden shaving mirror. It is tiltable. I think the wood is walnut. Kind of looks like burled walnut on the mirror. The glass is in good shape. May have a little play in the mirror frame holding the glass. Could be removed and made tighter but it's not going to fall out. The frame does have a few places where the wood cracked over the year and has been glued back in place. One small piece of veneer missing on the side and its about an inch long half inch wide. Not noticeable since it's on the side. There is one small spot on the top of the mirror frame where it looks like the wood started to splinter and its been patched with some putty at one time. Very nice turned spindles holding the mirror. Oval Victorian Marble Top Parlor Table. This is a neat table from the Victorian Era. This table has interesting Victorian details. The base is made of carved walnut with beautiful carved and turned details. The marble piece is stained and has a very old vein crack. The crack does not go all the way across. What a sweet chest of drawers. Salesman sample from circa 1850. Made of Walnut It measures 9 inches tall 9 1/2 inches wide 5 3/4 deep The chest has a water stain on the top. I have never tried to bleach it out. It looks to have been finished in the past. The rear of one of the drawers looks like it had been nibbled on in it's past. See photo. I have owned it for 25 years purchased it from an estate in Maine. You can see in the photo that they did a repair to the top left corner of the top drawer Patched with care. The sample shows very well and the Walnut has depth in the grains. So nice to look at. A very fine antique. Circa 1890's, carved and burled walnut marble top dresser with attached mirror frame and beveled mirror. Two piece construction. The case has three short drawers over two long drawers, with the original brass pulls. The drawer interiors are maple. Light burl walnut veneers across the drawers. The sides have a recessed panel. A finely mottled brown and white beveled marble slab is on top. The mirror frame is supported with a frame of deep carved classical cornice having acanthus, drapped swag, and serpentine ribbon. The mirror frame support measures 4'9" 57" tall by 3'7" 43" wide by 3" deep, the mirror glass 29" by 27-1/2" The dresser measures 3'8" 44" wide by 2'4" 28" tall by 20" deep. Excellent condition: original finish, walnut without chips ... moreor cracks, burl veneers without losses. Three drawers are with their locks(two of the three missing their brass escutcheons, no key. The marble is without damage or stains. The mirror is without damage or backing spots.
