The center top of the mirror is graced with a beautiful scrolled foliate crown with carved grape cluster center. This beautiful crown is removable for shipping purposes and sits on the gorgeous mirrored top which is adorned with elegant moulding. Many raised burled panels, rosette roundels, fancy leaf carved shoulders, four candle-stands(unusual as most Victorian dressers only have two) and elegant pierced carved grape and leaf carved ornamentations on the sides. The entire mirrored top is removable for shipping purposes and sits on the very ornate white marble top base. The beautiful and removable white marble tops are beveled and in excellent condition for their age. From a functional standpoint. Both pieces have been refinished, but missing veneer work was not done, so, as you can see in pics 4& 8 there is slight edge veneer loss at the front side corners. In pic 5 you can barely see that the veneer has been re-glued. There are a few nicks here and there, and there are hardware circles around a couple of the drawer pulls, where the handles have been rotated and made a circle in the wood around. The hardware, as well as the design, makes this piece much more eye catching, with steel pulls and horizontal rosewood tips on each pull. This piece measures 54" x 32" x 18" deep. A beautiful Italian manufacture dresser with beveled mirrors and crafted marquetry dated around 1890. Strung with boxwood. The serpentine cornice and conforming deep frieze above three mirrored panels, the base with a marble top over two long drawers on baluster front legs. This is loosely based on late 18th century models with its delicate inlays and elegant feet. Marquetry is a decorative surface treatment in which thin pieces of wood. Mother of pearl or metal are laid together in a pattern which is affixed to another sturdier support, usually on furniture or wood boxes. The word comes from the French word"marqueterie" The technique has been used for centuries. Examples go as far back as ancient Egypt, where Egyptian tomb paintings show marquetry furniture being made and some of that furniture still exists. Antique Eastlake Dresser This is an Eastlake style antique dresser. We believe it is composed of walnut with a medium-tone finish. It has been finished with a lovely marble surface and a large mirror top. The mirror has a beautiful and ornate carved design. Three large drawers sit below the marble surface. The drawers have dovetailed construction. All of the drawers are 33" wide and 14" deep. The top drawers is 6 1/8" tall. The middle is 7" tall and the bottom is 8 1/2" tall. The entire set-up measures 86" in height. It is 41 3/4" at the widest point. And 17 3/4" deep. It weighs approximately 177 pounds. The exposed marble surface measures 40 7/8" by 13 3/4" This is in great. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. There are no visible cracks or repairs. There are ... morea few chips along the dresser edge. It appears as though there was originally a crown as well as a pair of candle holder arms. These pieces are no longer included. The mirror may be a replacement, since it is not beveled, but it is still a lovely match. There is a slight separation in the joint at the top of the mirror arch. I see a few very faint paint splatters on the dresser. There are minor imperfections, such as scratches or spots of wear, which I believe should be expected on a piece of this age. Antique 1800s Dresser 19th Century Chest of Drawers Walnut Wood FREE SHIPPING
19th Century Chest of Drawers This is a fantastic piece of historical furniture. This is a chest of drawers or dresser from the early to mid 1800's. It appears to be constructed primarily of walnut wood. There are several distinguishing features that influence our opinion as to the date of this piece: The dresser was constructed with square-head nails. Which were used from the late 1700's to the late 1800's. It is constructed of solid-wood boards measuring up to 16" in width. Which could only have been made from very large trees long ago. The dovetails used to construct the front and back of the drawers are all hand-cut. The smallest drawer has 3 tails and 4 pins. And the larger drawers have up to 5 tails and 6 pins. The drawer bottoms are chamfered, meaning the front and side edges and the drawer bottoms are finished at ... morea slop. While the inside top of the drawer is flat. This was cut and finished by hand-held tools, which is an indication that it is pre-1840. All of the saw cuts in the wood appear to be parallel rather than circular. This indicates the use of mill saws during construction. The wood also appears to be hand-planed. The dresser features turned-wood pulls. Which we believe to be original. It also has paneled sides, which was a feature in many early Philidelphia chests of drawers. This piece is in good. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. There is a significant crack in the drawer second from the top. It is still structurally sound. All of the drawers have locks, but we do not have the matching key. This piece has cracks, wear, chips, discoloration and repairs that are consistant with a piece of this age. The"flaws" only contribute to the primateive nature of this chest of drawers. They quietly tell the stories of its life. The dresser measures 45 7/8" tall by 42 5/8" wide by 20" deep. The drawer faces are all 36" wide. The height of the drawer faces from top to bottom are: 1st- 9 3/4" 2nd- 5 3/4" 3rd- 6 3/4"

Five beveled mirrors including two side dressing mirrors which are adjustable, beautiful heavy carved finials above the three larger mirrors which clearly distinguish it as French and mirror back candle stands 16 1/2 inches above the lovely top surface on the dresser. The drawers on this lovely dressing table are dovetailed and have gorgeous burl walnut veneer decorative fronts and fabulous original metal drawer pulls. for sale a very wonderful antique john jelliff deep well dresser. constructed of the finest walnut lumber of the day with great burl accents just in the right places. it was made circa 1870. it is all original except the mirror. i have owned it for years and the old mirror never bothered me. But is was very smokey and had lost a good bit of silver backing, so i did replace it before i listed it. the mirror is just like the one that was in it, heavy 1/4 inch plate glass heavy mirror. it features very nice candles stands, great crest and swirls of carving at the edges of the formed top crest. it has all the original tear drop pulls, some of which have lost a bit of paint over the years from use. the drawer joints are hand cut dovetails. it is in near mint original condition. it has a secret drawer at the bottom, then two large drawers all the ... moreway across and two top drawers, one for top of each outer portion. the drawers slide like butter, work perfectly. the marble is all original to the piece and is in perfect condition and is very fine carrara marble. it is a wonderful and beautiful piece of furniture. i expect at a high end antique shop it would have a price tag of at least 5K on it. i am starting it at what i paid for it a long time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck btw. Each drawer was constructed with hand cut dovetails, a sign of age and craftsmanship. Tall bracket feet finish the piece off nicely at the bottom. You will notice that the top and bottom mouldings appear to have been done in sections. We believe this was intentional and it does not appear like repairs. The wood has developed crackling over the drawer fronts and top surface. This gives the chest a distressed look and provides character and charm to an already lovely dresser! Other minor dings and marks can be found here and there as you would expect from something of this age. Overall this burled walnut chest of drawers is in very good condition. Offered for sale is this 19th Century Victorian dresser and Mirror combo made from Oak. Walnut and Poplar. To the best of my knowledge it has not been refinished. The number"81" is stamped into the back of the mirror in two different places. I can find no other markings. Hidden drawer has at one time had the bottom replaced with newer thin plywood. It is only visible when pulled out and upside down. Dimensions are Width-39 Depth-20 Height-73* When unlatched. The mirror tilts forward and backward. Drawers all operate smoothly. Antique Dresser, Hand-carved Walnut &Leaf Pulls, Price greatly reduced!
Will ship if you make arrangements. This dresser was handmade in the Midwest during the Civil War period. Likely before 1860. The back of the dresser shows it belonged to Henry Wims(Williams) An ex-slave according to the News-Palladium from Benton Harbor Michigan(Saturday, April 1, 1950(pg.9) Henry came up to Benton Harbor from Kentucky through Indiana in 1882. When he was a young man, about 20 years of age. He had been to Louisville where the cars stopped and where there was a great concentration of Union soldiers during the Civil war and decided to follow the railroad north and see where the tracks joined the"Underground railway" that he had heard so much about. Also, his wife's father lived at St. Joseph, where there were many ex-slaves and their descendants. His travels brought him to Benton Harbor. The solid walnut dresser ... morehas hand-carved walnut and leaf pulls. Hand-dovetailed drawers and square nails show expert craftsmanship. Finish is excellent with warm antique patina. There are minor stains and likely some wax drippings of candles on the top; missing and broken trim on the bottom left; broken side edge at the back right of the dresser. see photos) Size of this classic American furniture is 40"wide. 17 3/4" deep, and 39" tall.
