Antique Glass Vial Lachrymatory Perfume Scent Bottle Original Stopper
Purchased from an estate and for your consideration is a beautiful Antique Lachrymatory clear glass perfume. Scent bottle also know as a'tear catcher. The vial comes with its original stopper, tied to the vial by an old ribbon, which I have not removed. This is as found. The stopper fits tightly. This is a 4 sided vial with gold gilding on all 4 sides. The gilding is worn in places but surprisingly intact for a piece of this age. It measures 9 inches long with the stopper in, 1/2 inch wide at the sides, which do slightly taper in and then back out towards the bottom. It is a heavy piece of glass for its size, not flimsy. No cracks. The top edge a bit rough. And not sure if it may have been chipped at one point, or if that is the original top edge. The gilding is intact on the top. I am not an antiques expert, just someone who loves old ... morethings and buys them. I have had this in my personal collection for a number of years. I do not know the country of origin, but was told it may be French. When purchased, I was told it is early 19th century, perhaps older. I will let you decide since I am not the expert. You will be hard pressed to find a piece like this is such good condition for its age. They are rare. And I think quite unique. I like the thought that they could have held someone's tears. This is a beautiful amber glass atomizer perfume bottle in the shape of a heart. The atomizer is in perfect working condition. The bottle is very old looking. It appears there could have been a name on the bottom but the mold was old when it was made that I can't make it out. The bottle is around 3" tall by 2 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE ½” wide. It appears this bottle has never been used. Antique Ormolu Decorated 4 Perfume Bottle Holder w/Frosted Glass Stoppers!
This auction is for a fabulous and rare four bottle perfume holder with the original perfume bottles with frosted glass molded stoppers. The holder is probably brass and has the typical elaborate ormolu motif including ribbons. Flowers, leaves, etc. The band at the top and the bottom is very intricate. There is no damage to the ormolu that I can find. The bottles are in great condition with only one stopper having the common chips on the end(the part that goes into the perfume) The bottles are about 4 3/4" in total height(including the holder) and 2 1/2" across at the base. The holder has a band of laurel leaves impressed in the metal on the underside. Very elegant and rare set that we will double box for shipping. Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is an extraordinary little Venetian chatelaine type bottle. The bottle is made of ivory opaque glass with bands of sparkly gold aventurine. It has been swirled with pink and blue to make flowers and decorated with green glass in a zig-zag pattern. The top rim also has a gold aventurine band jeweled with red glass dots. This is one of the most complete and detailed little bottles like this that I have seen. The craftsmanship on something so small is really amazing. It has a cork plug with chain attached to the bottle. It's a good thing too. As I imagine the little plug would have been lost long ago if not attached. No chips or cracks that I can see. Only a few microscopic pits in the glass, you will see these as brown spots. These are likely from ... moresmall popped bubbles during the creation of the bottle and these have gathered a bit of dirt over the years. The Italian dirt is free with the bottle. I must admit to doing a bit of polishing to the metal parts. I wanted her to look her best! The bottle is 1 3/4 inches long/tall and 7/8 inch across at the widest part. ANTIQUE PRESSED GLASS PERFUME BOTTLE WITH FLEUR DE LIS STOPPER This lovely perfume bottle is approx. 7.5 inches high and approx. 3 3/4 inches wide. It does not have any markings indicating the manufacturer but was probably made around 1900-1940. The glass is clean and clear with no damage or wear. But a very slight"shear" at the base of the stopper. see photo) It is really subtle and barely noticeable. The middle of the stopper has an oval medallion surrounded by a beaded pattern, while the body has a matching medallion and flared sides. Antique Victorian Stearn Perfume Bottle
This lovely creation was made by the Frederick Stearn and Co. of Detroit. Michigan during the late 19th Century. Established in 1855 it was one of the leading pharmaceutical and perfumers in the U.S. This gorgeous example is made of heavy glass with faceted stopper. The bottle is in Good Condition with one tiny fleabite on the lip and bubbles and imperfections in the glass made during it's creation. The stopper is also in good condition with a few nicks in the very bottom, one fleabite on the top of one facet, and one nick at the top of the base of the stopper. The bottle still retains it's original label which reads, Stearns Perfumer Detroit, U.S.A. and pictures the silhouette of a lovely lady enjoying the fragrance of the bloom in which she holds. I have pulled it up and cannot find anything about it. It is an art deco design and the label states, Narcisse Arthur Guerlin Parfumers. The lid appears to be carved wood or bog oak possibly. Antique Victorian hand blown gilded glass tear catcher or perfume bottle
This is a mid-Victorian. Hand blown glass bottle. Bottles in this shape were sometimes used for perfume and sometimes for mourning as a tear catcher or lachrymatory bottle. It's said that a widow would collect her tears in the bottle and empty them on the grave of her husband on the anniversary of his death. This bottle measures 5" and. Remarkably, still has its original stopper. It retains almost all of its gilding on the top, bottom, sides, and stopper, though it has rubbed off in some places from being handled. The sides are etched with crosses for grip. No chips or cracks.
