Complete second century A.D. Roman glass perfume bottle(or“unguentarium” which possesses a light iridescent burial patina with purple, pink, blue and green highlights. Most Roman glass vessels recovered complete(intact or repairable) are between 1½ and 3 inches in size– this one obviously exceeds the high end of this scale. However though complete, in a sense it is not intact. The glass perfume bottle was broken, whether in ancient times or perhaps when it was excavated, as there is a fairly clean break toward the bottom. The repair however seems to have been made with bitumen(tar) which would indicate that the repair was ancient. Some of the bitumen has been lost, so there is a small hole in the side of the bottle. But it appears to have been repaired and reused in ancient Rome– a rather uncommon find. Small jars. Pitchers, unguentariums, jugs, bottles, jars and flasks like this were used to contain aromatic oils, perfumes, medicinal ointments, and cosmetics. It is not to say that the Romans did not use larger pieces of glass on their tables such as bowls and cups; and even larger containers for transporting foodstuffs; because they did. I have up for sale a wonderful rare vintage original circa 1898 JAS S. KIRK& CO Chicago Green Glass Perfume Bottle- complete with backside 5/8ths Five Eighths Proprietary Battleship Revenue Stamp.Partially covered another stamp that has the word Minneapolis printed on the bottom. I can not see the date on the 5/8 cent stamp but these are a 1898 series stamp. The bottle is a beautiful green glass- the top is molded clear glass with a cork stopper. The top label has the company logo and print that states that the company was Established in 1839. The middle larger paper label is a little faded but says VIOLET WATER REDOLENT WITH SWEET BREATH OF VIOLETS Jas S. Kirk& Co Perfumers Chicago. The bottle itself measures approx 8-3/8" long. Approx 9-1/4" with the top in place. It is in Excellent Condition- No damages to the glass, ... morethe labels are Excellent for their age but some normal age fading. vintage Jean Dupin Violet Triple Extract Perfume Bottle 1800s PARIS France
Offering a wonderful antique perfume bottle marked Triple Extract Jean Dupin Parfumeur Paris France VIOLET. The bottle is blown with an applied lip. The front lip of the bottle is mishaped and is not chipped. Can be seen if you look carefully in pic. Some bottles were made by Lalique and others but do not see any markings. Labels all intact and beautiful since it was protected in it's original box. The box is a wonderful piece of art itself with a Victorian lady with fan in the cameo and a Christmas inspired holly pattern framing her. Wei Dynasty(220-265 AD) This RARE and stunning Ancient Chinese Glass Perfume Bottle measures approximately 2. 83" tall x 2. 27" in diameter. It weighs approximately 2.6 ozs. or 7 4 grams. This Perfume Bottle is the forth one I have for sale from my personal collection. You will not find a better example of an ancient Chinese Perfume Bottle anywhere! I estimate that this lovely. Translucent Perfume bottle is over 1,750 years old and dates to the Wei Dynasty(220-265 AD) or perhaps the later Jin Dynasty(265-420 AD) in ancient China. Similar perfume bottle made of glass were made during both periods, so it is difficult to put an exact date on this item. It appears to have been excavated sometime after 1972, ... morewhen the famous site 15 km northeast of Jiayuguan, China, was first discovered. The bottle is in very good. Period condition, with NO chips, cracks, or repairs! It has a wonderful, authentic patina from the white calcification that has adhered to both the outside and inside of the bottle. If you look carefully inside the bottle, you can see the remnants of the perfume that was stored in the bottle! It is very RARE to find such a fragile glass item in such excellent condition after 1.750 years. I have carefully examined and authenticated this lovely Perfume Bottle. Antique Richard Hudnut Co. Perfume Bottle This antique perfume bottle dates back to around 1900. Violet Sec was one of the first perfumes manufactured by the Richard Hudnut Co. The bottle is in excellent condition. It has frosted and clear glass. The stopper is beautifully etched with flowers. This is an 8 oz. bottle and it still has the original labels on the front and back. This bottle comes from my family’s estate and has been stored indoors in a smoke free home since its purchase in the early 20th century. Antique Harmony of Boston Violet Toilet Water Perfume Bottle Lead Top With Wand
This is a beautiful old Violet Toilet Water bottle made by Harmony of Boston. It stands 7" tall to the top of the removable wand applicator. The bottom measures 1+7/8" X 1+3/8" It has a paper label around the neck of the bottle and one on the front. The one on the front has a small piece missing and is worn around the edges. The top has a cork with a lead top and it has a lead rose flower topped metal applicator wand that pulls out. The wand easily pulls out of the lead top. It looks like the cork may be stuck in the bottle. I have not tried to remove the bottle top. There is a square with a circle inside of it on the bottom of the bottle as shown in the last picture.
