Gorgeous Multicolor French Art Nouveau Marny Perfume Bottle Ca. 1924 Mkd RLB
This is a gorgeous multicolor French Marny perfume bottle ca. 1924. The design appears Art Nouveau to me though the age is close to the Art Deco era. Pictures very well show the condition of the bottle. The bottle is marked Marny. France, and the maker whose mark is the letters R L inside a B. I could only find one reference showing the Marny name and it gave a date of 1924. The design is about as beautiful and grand as I've ever seen in a perfume bottle. The bottle just recently turned up and does not have the bulb or the upper gold plated screw down attachment. This isn't surprising as most of the fancy rubber bulbs cracked from hardening over the years and were thrown away. I don't believe it would be hard to find a newer replacement though an older one might take some looking. The bottle is 6 3/4" high and the base is ... more2 1/4" in diameter. There is a little old perfume residue in the bottom of the bottle that can be seen in a picture. I've looked the bottle over and there are no chips, nicks or cracks in the glass. The design stands out beautifully without any noticeable fading of vivid colors. I do not see any scratches or scrapes in the design. Also the tiny beaded dots are all there unblemished. This is a near antique bottle and it's in wonderful condition though a little natural aging to the glass may show as these were not bought at the store new yesterday. This piece would have been around in the Roaring 1920s, gangster& bootlegging times. There are no bubbles or broken bubbles anywhere in the glass that I noticed. Actually think the glass is awfully nice. The gold plated top of the bottle shows some discoloration inside as seen in a picture. Upon closer examination this dark area is actually the underlying metal where the gold plating has worn off over the years from screwing/unscrewing the bulb attached mechanism. Bernard Perrot Perfume Scent Snuff Bottle Pair ca. 1670-1710 Orleans France
Scent bottle pair in amber and blue glass being sold together as one lot. 2 part mould blown; flattened pear shape with small foot. Pewter screw top and pontiled base. Ornamented in relief on one side with three fleurs-de-lis surmounted by a crown and on other side with three hearts and floral design. These small pear-shaped scent bottles would have been carried in their owner's pocket and would probably have contained perfume, holy oil or possibly snuff. The symbols were probably of heraldic significance as the fleur de lys is the symbol of the Bourbons(the house of the kings of France) while flaming hearts denote the house of Orléans, referring to the town or the house of the duke of Orléans(younger brother of King Louis XIV) who owned it. The sole glassmaking business in Orléans in the final decades of the 17th century ... morebelonged to Bernard Perrot and it is probable that this scent bottle was made in his glasshouse. Originally Bernardo Perroto, as his name suggests Perrot was one of the many Italian glassmakers working in France at this time. Both bottles are in perfect undamaged unaltered condition. Antique perfume bottle Sterling silver overlay, English or US-made, ca 1905
This is an elegant antique Sterling Silver Overlay Perfume Bottle(1905 est. In my opinion it was made in America or England. It has number"35" etched on the bottom of the bottle and stopper. Meaning the stopper and bottle are a perfect match. Importantly, the delicate construction process of mating silver to glass resulted in no glass cracks. The stopper matches the scroll design, and the bottle has a thin, delicate, fancy script monogram of the word"Alice. Sterling" is clearly seen at the bottom rim. The glass and stopper are in mint condition. This piece likely held very expensive perfume. It is beautiful. Highly-desirable, functional art. In overall excellent condition, with very small fleabites on dauber end of stopper. Bottle and rest of stopper has no chips, cracks or fleabites.
