Antique Victorian Mercury Glass Swirl Perfume Bottle Crown Top Blue Green Orange
This is a pretty vintage German lay down perfume scent bottle made of mercury glass in white with blue. Orange, green swirls. There is gold glitter in some of the swirls. Circa 1930's. The metal crown cover is attached to a piece of cork and it unscrews. The cover has some tarnish that is expected from aging. 2 1/4" tall and just under 1 1/2" wide. Werner" on p.570. Photo 4. This sweet lady is wearing a pink/mauve scooped neck sleeveless gown. Her sweet face has rosy cheek. Red lips, dark eyes& one stroke soft eyebrows. Photo 3. She is wearing a crown of pretty pink roses on her head. She holds a matching freshly picked rose in her right hand. Soft green leaf like designs on top of her roses. Opens on her left side where her crown stopper sits. It is an original crown stopper& one that unscrews to release the scent. This is a great crowntop perfume bottle. It is in good condition with a"k" mark on the bottom. Rare German figural perfume/ scent bottle in the shape of a seated cat. they are painted bright yellow. And there is a crown shaped stopper on the top of the cat; it is silver(or pewter) color with cork surrounding the part that extends down into the bottle. Cat, including crown, is approx 3 3/4 inches tall. The bottom of the cat is unglazed, and has the letter"K" on it. This is an unusual and cute bottle, and I think you'd be very pleased with it. Some were produced in more than one size. With the largest being the most difficult to find. Stamped with Carl Schneider mark. Germany and with the number 15131. In addition, is painted the number 15. Her pose is simple yet elegant at the same time. The vibrant fuchsia glaze of her gown offsets her décolleté. The urn she balances would have held the perfume. You are looking at a lot of three(3) Very Fine antique or vintage nicely hand painted‘Crown Top’ porcelain perfume bottles. All 3 are marked. And 2 are stamped‘Germany’ My best educated guess is that they are Victorian or from the early 1900’s anyway. As they belonged to my grandmother and she was an avid collector… Popular with collectors. These are great examples… Each bottle has been individually hand painted with lovely, brightly colored floral motifs and edged with Gold gilding. They measure just under 3 inches in height from the top of the crown stoppers to the base. About 2 inches across, and are about a ½ inch wide. They are in‘Very Fine’ condition for their age. And there are no cracks, chips, or scrapes that I can see. Two of the cork stoppers are in fine working condition and fit tightly.
