Antique art deco LIBRARY GNOME bookends BRADLEY & HUBBARD B&H sculpture desk
Heavy. Original, signed set of antique cast iron metal bookends depicting a gnome seated on the floor of a library in front of a beautifully detailed bookcase. This set was made by Bradley and Hubbard in the 1920's. They are very rare, high quality, very heavy, and, humorous. They typify the quality of workmanship which makes Bradley and Hubbard among the most collectible of all metal arts companies. The detailing is exquisite. Each bookend stands 5" tall, 6" wide, 3 1/2' deep and weighs 4 lbs. 10 oz. 9 lbs. 4 oz. for the pair) They are in very good condition with some finish loss. This is an exceptional Circa 1800's piece by Bradley& Hubbard of an old man smoking a tobacco pipe. It measures approx. 7 1/4" by 4 3/4" and is done in cast iron I came upon it about 33 years ago lying along side some railroad tracks and have kept it safely tucked away since. I am offering it up for auction now to serious collectors to add to their unique collection for display. It is in wonderful antique condition and it's only flaw is the one small area to the left of the plate where the iron wore through(see photo) most likely from having weathered the elements considering where it was found. Pair 18th century bell metal candlesticks
This is a very unusual and possibly unique pair of bell metal candlesticks. The shafts are seamed and the threads are the typical coarse threads of the 18th century. They measure 7" high and a square 2 3/4" base. They have a beautiful patina and on one candlestick the shaft has been soldered to the base as is often found. The design of the socket appears to be borrowed from the 17th century as seen on some of the bell based candlesticks and reappeared in English candlesticks of the 1780 period. These sticks are from my collection. Some of which I have had for over 50 years. Please see some of the others that I have listed.

18th century Spanish Candlestick
This is an attractive candlestick that is probably Spanish or lower continental. It is of cast brass and some of these are found with a core support pin of steel. It is 7" tall. 4" octagonal base, nice overall patina. I say Spanish because we found a number of these in Texas that came out of Mexico. See our other listings for other candlesticks. Ornate antique early 1900s French/German bronze dresser jewelry box with a painted portrait of a young man. These are usually French and I believe it is French. But there is a piece of printed paper underneath the velvet in the lid that has German printed words. So, that is why I listed it as French/German. The miniature portrait is painted on a thin slice of ox bone. This beautiful box is in good condition, but has a few dents on the bottom.The green soft velvet interior has some stains and, should most likely be replaced. The box has relief of rose garland on the sides and a rope twist around the top. The lid opens and closes just fine, but the top velvet circle needs to be glued in place it keeps falling out when I open the lid. The box measures 2 7/8" in diameter and is 1 3/8" tall.
