Take a look at this magnificent piece! It’s a tiger sawn. Quarter sawn table– and I mean ALL over it– including the trunk, the legs, the claw feet, the rolled skirt and the top. It dates from 1900, in refinished condition. It has a split pedestal base with humongous claw feet and legs much, much bigger than normal, on a multi-turned fluted oversized column that splits in the middle, just like a Hastings, although I couldn’t find any manufacturer’s marking on this table. The table top is 54 inches round, with a rolled skirt, which means it isn’t flat but is concave, and really dresses up the table. The selection of veneer used on the top is the secret of this table’s beauty. It’s hard to duplicate this with solid wood, which is why they used lots of veneer back in those days. The veneer on this table top is in really nice condition, and there is only one spot you can see where there was a nick in a corner, which has been all repaired and is now fine. This table is all nice, tight and sturdy and ready for another 100 years of use, after being stripped, sanded, stained in a beautiful dark oak color that brings out the gorgeous grains, and then had multiple hand-rubbed coats of satin sheen lacquer applied for a durable finish that will last for years. Antique French Oak Marble Top and splash Washstand Wash Stand, Butler
This auction is for an Estate found antique wash stand. It would also work well as a Dinning room butler. The previous owners believed it was French and over 100 years old. The wood looks like flame mahogany or oak. I believe it has been varnished. The wood is very shiny. There is one drawer with a divider down the middle. The drawer opens from underneath. On the inside of the drawer there are some stains. It does open and close with a minimum of sticking. It could use some wax. The marble top is gray and white. The surface is a little rough and definitely could use a buffing. There are some small nicks and there is a crack along the back. You can see this in the 12th or last photo. Across the bottom. A pot board connects the four legs provided plenty of strength and stability to the washstand. The pot board's surface looks a little bubbled ... moreI believe from water sitting on it. The right front leg has a chip on one of the rings. You can see this in the 11th photo. I think the legs may have been shortened or they had a cap, rollers on them. The stand is 30" wide, 19" deep and 33" tall. The splash is 3-3/8" tall with the wood adding another 3/8" There is a paper label on the back of the drawer but most of it is gone. If anyone out there recognizes it please let me know. I would love to know the manufacturer. This is a beautiful piece but it is old and while it looks great for its age it does show some age. French Rococo Carved Oak 1880 Antique Dresser Mirror. Lavishly hand carved in France around 1880. This Rococo design dresser mirror has original glass and a drawer. The old finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain its warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. The adjustable mirror has lots of"smoke" to show its age. If this is not charming, the glass could be replaced if desired. This washstand has been in use by our family for over 100 years. It was the only piece of furniture to make it out of my great-grandparent's house when it burned in 1940. It is the original mirror and is dull and with some blemishes. It can be replaced with a new one if you desire. Foyer, or for storage in a living room, this antique dresser with slide is full of rustic charm! Originally made in England around the year 1890 it exhibits the character and elegance we come to expect from fine English antique furniture. The wood used is solid oak which has remained sturdy over all these years. The patina that has set in is attractive and warm in color. Much of the rustic ... morecharm that comes from this dresser are from the old marks and dings found throughout. They are quite prevalent especially on the sides and top. Some of these marks were probably caused by woodworm but they are long gone from the furniture. We often see these marks in antiques and they lend a look that cannot be duplicated. One of the more unique features of this piece is the brushing slide at the top. It was originally used to lay clothes out on while brushing the lint off them. This slide is covered in green felt. Also unique to this chest are the brass drop pulls. They have a very unusual shape and a ring pull. They appear to be original to the chest. Overall the condition of this dresser is very good. The felt is quite old and shows plenty of wear. We have already mentioned that the wood has sustained minor marks dings. And wood worm marks over the years. These are part of the antique dresser with slide’s charm and do not affect the integrity of the structure of the chest. These marks are found all over the piece. The top was made of two boards of oak and over the years they have shrunk ever so slightly so there is a slight gap at the ends. No key remains for the drawers. The

It has 6 drawers. 2 small and 4 large also know as a 2 over 4. The drawers are serpentine bowed. The mirror is beveled and in good condition. Offered for sale is this 19th Century Victorian dresser and Mirror combo made from Oak. Walnut and Poplar. To the best of my knowledge it has not been refinished. The number"81" is stamped into the back of the mirror in two different places. I can find no other markings. Hidden drawer has at one time had the bottom replaced with newer thin plywood. It is only visible when pulled out and upside down. Dimensions are Width-39 Depth-20 Height-73* When unlatched. The mirror tilts forward and backward. Drawers all operate smoothly.
