Circa 1900 Mahogany Green leather inlaid steps Sturdy and strong Minor surface wear, Here is a very hard to find set of antique library steps. These steps were made in England sometime around 1900 and we have recently imported them into our Atlanta. GA antique furniture store. Library steps like this were designed to allow someone to reach the top shelves of the bookcases in their libraries. Some are simple but others like this one are more decorative and add elegance as well as utility to the room they inhabit. The wood used is solid mahogany and the stairs themselves are covered in a green leather with gold tooling. A mahogany pole is central to the steps allowing one a place to use their left hand to keep balance while perusing books with the right. This pole is topped with a decorative brass cap. These antique library steps are in very good condition. The only wear is some superficial surface wear to the stairs as you can see in the photos. Structurally the steps are sound. At 180 pounds I am able to climb to the top stair and feel very stable. This is a very unusual find and would make a really interesting addition to any room with tall bookcases. These antique library steps are sturdy and beautiful. The four stairs spiral around the balance pole. Here you can see some of the minor surface wear to each step. The mahogany feet are quite sturdy. Each step is covered in gorgeous green leather. A beautiful and interesting addition to any home or office. The turned mahogany balance pole is capped with a brass top. Have Questions? This ice box has over 20 hand carved pieces on the two front doors, nice detailed lion head carvings and two large paw feet. All of these carvings were hand made by highly skill woodworkers in the 1890's. The columns on the sides are really nice oak rope carvings that are below each lion head and extends down to the top of each paw foot. Underneath the top ledge are unusual oak trim with heart style carvings on all three sides. The bevelled mirror is in great shape, no chips, scratches or hazeThis ice box is solid oak and has never been painted before. A lot of the ice boxes that you see listed were painted before and when finished, they have a washed out appearance from the paint still present in the grain of the wood. There is a back splash on the lower side that may or may not have been added at one time, I'm not sure. It can be removed or left on, your preference. It is a beautiful quarter sawn oak grain. Antique Tilting Dresser SHAVING Mirror TIGER OAK Wood VICTORIAN 1880 Round Frame
Antique Tiger Oak Victorian Era c.1880 Round Shaving Mirror- On Tilting Frame- DESCRIPTION A handsome antique shaving mirror on tilting stand. Made entirely of solid tiger oak grained wood. The mirror frame, tilting arms, base and round ball feet all with beautiful graining visable. This one is from the late Victorian era circa 1880's. It's in original untouched condition, not refinished. It also retains the original mirror glass and backing for the round mirror. The round mirror frame is 1" wide and has a deep beveled edge. The two arms have knobs at the sides that can be loosened allowing you to tilt the framed mirror portion. Tightening the knob will then hold it in that fixed position. The arms have lovely turnings and are mortised through the wide shaped chamferred edge base. The base has four round ball feet. We've ... moreleft this as found. We have not polished or refinished the wood it is completly original. Shows good wear, but no splits or cracks or breaks in the wood. And we have not removed the original mirror glass from the frame. As expected with mirror glass of this age, it does show wear to the silvering. Of course, if you like, you could replace the mirror with contemporary mirror glass. We like it just the way it is. Showing it's good age. Size: 12-1/4" high overall- 15-3/4" long and 5-1/2" wide at the base- mirror frame measures 9-3/4" across CONDITION Very Good. The wood has not been refinished. This very unusual item is a custom-made tiger sawn oak extremely rare five-drawer. Double hatbox lock-side dresser that probably dates from ... morethe 1890s. It came out of the home of a dear friend of mine who died about 15 years ago. And who had a great collection in his home. He bought this chest a long time ago, and would never sell it. This piece will remind you of a Harvard dental cabinet, the way it’s made on the side panels. I could spend probably 30 minutes describing it, but the pictures will do it more justice. When you open the two serpentine paneled beaded molding doors on top, it reveals a shelved compartment, and below that are five serpentine front drawers with beautiful heavy cast-brass hardware that is all intact. You’ll notice there are no keyholes on any of the drawers. This is because when the doors are opened, there is a hidden panel on which you push a lever and it locks all the drawers. They are unlocked the same way. The chest has many fine details, including a wonderful detailed backsplash that could probably be sold by itself for $300. It has seven raised panels on each side, a French braided spade foot, clamshell carving on the base, cutout fretwork on the skirt, a beaded molded edge with a few pieces of beading missing, and is in overall really excellent original condition

Tonight's Buy It Now Item is a Large Solid Oak One Inch Thick Fancy Mirror HARP w\ gingerbread which is all intact. Because of the largeness of the harp I took the 2 ends off from the center piece which will make it very easier to package and save on the shipping price significantly. I was hoping it would come apart easily and it couldn't have come off better. There are 2 dowels on each end and they slide right out with just a couple taps. Don't use a regular hammer. Either a rubber hammer or put a rag folded up between the wood and a regular hammer would be a better choice. When putting it together all you have to do is put a little glue on the dowels or put a couple brads in from the back where the dowels are. All the gingerbread is intact on it and the whole unit is in terrific condition. This oak mirror harp came from a beautiful ... morebeach house and the harp was in an old carriage shed on Lake George in the Adirondacks of New York where I picked it up several years ago. It's got a brown medium oak stain on it, which pretty much matches the original color. If you have any other questions about this oak harp, I'd be happy to answer your emails. Shabby Chic 1890's Antique Oak Dresser
This 1890's quaint old oak wash stand with smaller side cabinet is a lucky find and a rare piece. The design is not typical and would not have been available if it were not for some condition issues which have been remedied. The back was cobbled together with braces(solid plywood now reinforces the structure) and the lower cabinet top was gone(new oak matching cap) The hardware is all original and in great shape. As are the drawer bodies. The lower cabinet originally was meant for a chamber pot and is in good shape for its age. Wash stands used to be a common bedroom fixture around the turn of the century before many houses had running water and indoor plumbing. This piece has been lovingly updated with a custom aged finish which will work easily with almost any decor. This piece measures 41"wide x 21"deep x 31"tall.

Each drawer also features a lock but there is no key. Over the years the oak has sustained some minor dings to the feet, drawer fronts, and top. These are old and have been waxed in over the years. They now provide a wealth of character throughout the entire chest. This antique chest of drawers is very strong. It was sturdily built by time honored techniques. For example. The drawers are made with hand cut dovetailed joints on all four corners. Dovetailing is the strongest and most durable way to put drawers together. All of the four drawers open and close smoothly. The bracket feet are still strong and hold the chest well. The overall condition of this chest is very good. Besides the dings mentioned there are two age separations. One is on the top and the other is on the middle drawer front. Both are obvious in the pictures. It is a Four-drawer dresser, and the top bank of drawers are the classical double-bow-front. This Dresser is well over 100 years old. And its construction is truly frontier-old school, and features absolutely ZERO plywood or particleboard. It is all SOLID Oak Wood, and the only'veneer' is the facing on the Bow-Front Drawers.
