These salt and pepper shakers are charmingly decorated. Each tapering cylindrical body has a rich hand hammered surface in the Japanese taste. One is decorated with an applied mixed metal crane and lily-of-the-valley floral bush, and the other is decorated with an applied mixed metal bird and a goat playfully eating the leaves from a bush. Both also have a ground of applied silver granulation. These scenes are artistically rendered and create a dynamic scene against the sparkling silver surface. Both have plain, detachable cap lids that have been beautifully pierced in a starburst and anchor motif. Each shaker is stamped under the base with the identifying marks of the Gorham Manufacturing Co. the words Sterling& Other Metals, and pattern numbers A92 M and 11 EX, each lid is also stamped with a number. Both measure approx. 3" high, and are in excellent condition overall. This lovely shaker set would make a striking addition to any table, and are a wonderful example of the eclecticism of the late 19th century. The caps are marked for Sterling and one shaker is marked for Hawkes with the Trefoil mark. They are both in good used Estate condition showing normal age related wear. One shaker is slightly cloudy. There are no major chips. Cracks or major damage. There is a tiny bit of roughness. The caps are marked Sterling and have a repousse scroll pattern. Please view photos of the actual shakers you will receive. Hawkes cut glass was made by T.G. Hawkes& Company of Corning. New York, founded in 1880. The firm used cut glass blanks made at other glassworks until 1962. Many pieces are marked with the trademark, a trefoil ring enclosing a fleur-de-lis and two hawks. Victorian shaker green pattern glass salt or pepper shaker
A Victorian salt or pepper shaker. It is thick light green pattern glass. I don't know the maker or the exact age. It is 3 1/4" tall x 2" at its widest point. The pattern has 2 raised lattice sections in between solid areas. The top and bottom have a leaf and floral design. The top screws on and is metal; I'm not sure what kind but it is not sterling silver. It is in clean wonderful condition for its age. There are no cracks. The top opening of the shaker is rough around the whole area.no major chips but just rough large flea bites. The lid has a fractional 1/16" narrow crack that you can hardly see but I want to mention. It also has some tiny dents that are barely noticeable. It has no broken holes. The metal is slightly discolored and it may come off with a cleaning. But it has the right patina now. This auction is for one antique salt and pepper set. Circa 1930, by Imperial Metal Mfg Co of New York. The"shaker jars" are glass and the base is plastic. Overall height is 2 3/4" and base is 2 3/8" by 1 1/4" The jars screw into the base and salt and pepper is dispensed by pushing down on the black or white buttons. That allows the rubber stoppers to open and allow contents to shake out. This is a very unusual set and would make a great addition to any collection! Check out my other items! Watson Company Floral Cut Glass Crystal Sterling Silver Rim Dishes This is a Watson Company cut glass Crystal. Sterling Silver rim dish I believe this is silver. Mark is that of the Watson Company marking: CROWN-W-LION it is also marked Sterling, A627 on the large dish/bowl and A826 on the two smaller hurricane cut glass vases. Dimensions are: on the large Dish/stem bowl 9" in diameter and 6"tall. The two smaller hurricane vases/dishes are 6"diameter and 6 3/4" tall also have small dent on the rim. Generally in good condition for their age. VINTAGE MILK GLASS HANDLED SALT& PEPPER SHAKERS This antique salt& pepper shaker set is decorated with a transfer ware portrait of lovely Georgianne. Duchess of Devonshire, painted by artist Thomas Gainsborough, portrait painter for aristocrats of the time. The milk glass shakers are handled and measure approx. 3" in height. They have thin gold bands accents. Tops are metal and screw on and off easily. Condition is good, some light wear on top gold band, transfer ware and a very tiny nick on one handle. PA For your Antique Glass Shaker Collection Details Description: A beautiful pink colored opaque glass mold blown shaker in the bulging petal pattern. There are four rows of bulging petals around the circumference. The shaker. Which is colored in opaque pink, has a motif of bulges with small dots between them all in a raised design. The shaker has a screw on metal top and a footed based with a slightly recessed center. This shaker is rated very scarce and is rather unusual. See page 42 in Mildred& Ralph Lechner's book The World of Salt Shakers, published by Collector Books of Paducah, KY 1992 for a similar example. Repairs or hairlines that we could find. The metal cap is also in good shape with a few minor bumps, scratches, and has lost most of its original silvery color. The shaker also shows general roughness around the top edge, which is original to the making(this normally happens when the shaker is broken off the blowing wand after the shaker has hardened) which can be seen in the photos. There is also a small nick at the rim to the inside opaque lining. However, none of these are truly an issue and the piece is great and would make a great addition to your collection. I found this at an Antique Store in Concord. NH. It was too pretty to leave behind. I wish I knew more about it. Please look at the photos closely. I tried to get one from every angle. It leans to one side, but is flat on the bottom. I'm not sure if the cover is pewter or silver or what it is, as the tag only said Glass Shaker. The glass is heavy and has beautiful detail. WESTMORELAND GLASS SUGAR CREAMER SALT PEPPER STACK SET PRE DEPRESSION ERA 1924
This is one of my favorite sets manufactured by Westmoreland Glass Company. It's described in Westmoreland Glass Volume 3 1888-1940 by Lorraine Kovar as their BS-1 Breakfast Set from their Line#462. And shown in their 1924 and 1926 catalogs, actually pre-Depression Era which began in 1929. It consists of five pieces cleverly stacked together to make a compact set of a sugar bowl. Salt and pepper shakers, cream pitcher and butter pat lid. The base of the set is the sugar bowl with side extensions that are indented at the centers to hold the little shakers in places. The base of the creamer fits inside the sugar bowl and the base of the butter pat fits inside the creamer. A very unique set to add to your table setting! Westmoreland made these sets in many colors, some with handpainted decorations. This particular set is clear glass and ... moreyou will notice from the first photograph that it glows under the black light. Since old clear pressed glass from the 1800s- early 1900s contained manganese which has the glowing property when exposed to a black light, similar to the glowing property of old uranium glass. The assembled set measures about 3-1/2" tall and 5-1/4" wide at the sides of the shakers. The shakers have mother of pearl inserts. The shakers have a little smoothed chipping at the mouths. Covered by the lids. The metal lids have some denting shown in the photo and one shaker has some salt residue. Antique Blue Milk Glass, Oak Leaf Wrapped, Mold Blown Shaker
This is a sky-blue milk glass shaker with an oak-leaf pattern that wraps around. The oak leaves have beautifully detailed venation. From what research I've done via internet. This piece was most likely produced between 1890-1910. Shakers like this were blown into a mold and broken off the pipe at the top lip which was left rough on these antique shakers. The lid covers the roughness. Lid is the original and seems to be either pewter or silver due to it's relative heaviness; it has normal discoloration with no cracks or excessive wear. There are 4 mold lines and it measures 2.75" tall and 2" at widest point. No manufacturing markings. There is one small chip at the base of the shaker(see pictures) No cracks or repairs. It is in very good condition and not excellent due to the minor chip at the base. It’s a unique and beautiful ... morepiece for the addition to a collection or as decoration. Up for auction are a Pair of Victorian Sterling Silver& Cut Glass Salt& Pepper Shakers. These Salt& Pepper shakers feature sterling silver caps and cut glass bodies. Each shaker has a sterling top with circle and star shaped piercings for the salt& pepper. They are each marked"STERLING" around the cap. Each shaker measures 3 1/8" tall and approximately 1 5/8" in diameter at the bottom. They are in good vintage condition with some wear to the glass and some dings on the top from use. Antique Vintage Painted Flowers Salt & Pepper set White Milk Glass
He is a pair of Antique/ Vintage Hand painted Flowers Salt and Pepper Shakers White Milk Glass. I found these at an estate sale. I do not know the maker of these nor the age. But I do know that they are old. The flowers on these appear to be hand painted. They also have gold paint which a lot of it is worn off. These have the lids but one is dented and the other is broke and the silver has lost it's coloring. Please see pictures. These measure 3-5/8" tall. There does not appear to be any chips or cracks in the body of these but the tips on the top of the shakers appear worn not sure if they are chips. These are great collectibles. The marks on the silver included the lion Passant. King George III duty mark that dated this piece to 1786-1821. One bears a date letter b, the other bears r also a partial maker's mark C.
