It is an extraordinary find, of special interest to ... moreantique collectors, and one that would make a memorable gift. An outstanding feature is that it was made in 1785 and is approximately 228 years old! The English silversmith hallmarks along the bottom edge spell out its unique history. Maker's Mark: Bold initials"RH" in an oval escutcheon. Granted in 1783 to the maker, Robert Hennell Silver Mark: Lion Passant- sterling silver content.925 Date Letter: Small letter"k" in a shield-like escutcheon. Equals 1785 date of assay in London City Mark: crowned leopard's head" means London was place of manufacture Duty Mark: left facing profile of George III" from Dec 1784 to May 1786 indicated duty was paid The piece stands about 2 inches high on 4 ball and claw feet. It is 3 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide. The entire salt cellar weighs approximately 6 ounces. With the silver frame at 2 ounces and the glass insert at 4 ounces. The silver frame has beautiful lattice work along the upper perimeter. Topped off by an elegant edge trim. Along the sides, is the graceful engraving into the silver of a garland of roses, intertwined with a ribbon. Also, one side is engraved a capital letter"B" and the other side has a design resembling a clock face. There was no indication of any defects or scratches on the silver frame. The cobalt blue insert. Has an amazing color, especially when held up to sunlight or other bright light. At the bottom of the insert is an etching of an eight pointed star. This refracts the light passing through, enhancing its beauty. There is a 3/4 inch imperfection and a small chip on the bottom outside edge of the insert. Individual Salt Cellars- Up for auction are 4 lovely crystal salt cellars in a beautiful aqua color. I purchased these separately over time so they have a little discrepancy. But nothing critical. They each measure 3" square. Three of the interior circles that hold the salt are approx. 1.75" in diameter. One of them has a slightly larger round center for holding salt. Also, one of them appears to be slightly lighter in color, but not by much. They are all in very good condition. I found no chips, cracks or hairlines. Please feel free to email with questions. They each measure 3" x 3" There are no cracks or chips in the glass and they are in very nice vintage condition. They are pre-owned but in lovely condition. The interiors have a pearl like iridescence. The bottoms show a green back stamp. O& E. G. Royal inside a wreath. And underneath. Austria. Each piece has the letters E. W. M. inscribed on the bottom in gold lettering. The O& E G Royal Austria hallmark is made by Oscar and Edgar Gutherz of Alt-Kohlaw. Austria between 1889-1918. The cellars measure approximately 1 ¼ in. diameter. These were typically placed at each place setting for formal dining. They are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There are also a set of 3 clear pressed glass open cellars(small bowls) measuring approximately 2.5 inches in diameter. Although these are vintage as well. There ... moreare no distinguishing marks. They appear to possibly be an example of E arly A merican P attern G lass made during the Victorian period ca 1850-1910. Only in America. All three are also in very good condition showing no cracks or chips. There is also a single oval shaped dish. Approximately 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches in diameter. The exterior is white. The interior is a light greenish color on the upper edge with a white oval shape on the bottom. Inside that oval is a colorful floral design. There are no distinguishing marks on this piece. Nor are there any chips or cracks.

Although this is a vintage item. These salt wells are in perfect, new condition, each piece having its own label still in place, reading Bohemia Glass, Made in Czechoslovakia. One spoon has been unwrapped in order to take a picture, but the remaining five spoons are still in their original wrapping. The salt wells are in excellent condition and have never been used.
