18th C DUTCH BLUE-Glazed Pottery TANKARD w/ PEWTER LID-1/2 KAN-Delft?-NR!
Up for bid is an early Dutch tin-glazed pottery tankard with a pewter lid. Almost certainly 18th century, likely Delft. The piece is 6 ½ inches tall to the top of the thumbpiece, and 5 inches from handle tip to spout. The body is a buff-colored pottery, painted in a thick crackly blue and glazed over. A shield-shaped reserve in the front has double bird heads and reads“1/2/ KAN/ S” The piece has its original thin pewter lid with thumbpiece, hinged to a band of pewter clamped around the top of the handle. The lid is faintly engraved with a Roman numeral“XI” or“IX” Condition on the piece is fair. There are several small patches where the glaze has chipped away. Namely on the spout and handle. There is a fairly large interior chip with a hairline glaze crack down into the interior. This wonderful little pewter pitcher is in nice condition but with the kind of issues that often come with old pewter items(see condition description above) I notice when I was uploading photos that the first 2 look like there is a large vertical indentation but it's my reflection and not the dents mentioned in the description. When I got it at an estate sale this weekend. It came with a lid which, at first glance, appears to fit. After examining it further, however, I don't think this lid goes with this pitcher. Straight from the farmhouse dinner table. Thick clear glass. With a hidden spout, by what looks like, a pewter hinged lid. It is possible to duplicate the design, but not the age. This is a true"old" piece. Measuring it with the lid in place, at 7 1/2 inches high. Across the bottom center, it is 3 3/4. There are some excellent markings of age to this piece. No cracks or chips. On the handle there are two lines, possibly from the stone of a ring. These are not cracks. And yes, there should be signs of use from the lid. It is an old piece. VINTAGE EARLY 20th C. ENGLISH SADLER & CO PITCHER W/ PEWTER LID
Antique English pewter-lidded pitcher. Made by Sadler& CO. Marked SADLER BURSLEM ENGLAND. This interesting and beautiful pitcher is made of pottery(earthenware) but is painted to look as if it were porcelain. I understand that this treatment of a pottery item as unusual. The lid is pewter and features a thumb tab set in a floral design. There is a crease in the front of the lid, but it is otherwise intact. The body of the pitcher is painted in two colors, dark blue(usually referred to as cobalt) on the top half and light blue on the bottom half. It is decorated with daisy-like flowers and has gold gilt lines around the waistline and bottom of the pitcher. As well as where the stylized light blue handle attaches to the pitcher. The bottom and inside are brown, the natural color of the pottery. The pitcher is about 7.5 inches tall from ... morebase to top of the thumb tab and is about 4 inches across the base, tapering upward. I am not an expert and I have relied on research to describe this item as accurately as I can. I have no real idea about the age of the item. But I have been told that it is likely from 1895 to 1920 because the tariff act enacted in 1921 required the words"Made in England" to be used on items produced from that time on. This very unusual. This stein has been in the family since before WWII from around turn of the century. I cannot find a makers mark anywhere on the piece. But there is a number 406 near the handle. Rough translation of text on the stein: At the end of the day. I drank the cool award(on the sides) In the green wreath(tavern) and thirsty for one. Complete and in great shape with a pewter lid. There is an even crazing all over the ceramic portion. And the pewter has a great patina. The rim of the lid has a very slight bend inward on one side. Also. There is an incised 1/2L near the top. VINTAGE WEB PEWTER ROUND BUTTER DISH WITH LID AND GLASS INSERT
This is a vintage Web pewter round butter dish. It still has its original glass dish inside. As you can see in the pictures it has a lot of marks and some corrosive marks and scratches. It needs to be cleaned. There is also a slight dent in the top of the dome which I just cannot get a picture of. Please see picture 9 as that is where the dent is. The base is 6-1/4" in diameter and the glass dish is 4-1/2" in diameter and 1-1/2" high. The whole thing is 4-1/2" high to the top of the knob on the lid. The bottom is marked Pewter WEB 1180.

The creamer has a squat ball shape with a handle and a wide spout while the squat ball sugar bowl has a round lid with a central finial in the form of a ball. The two pieces came with a pewter tray of rectangular shape with two handles one on each end. It is not clear that the tray is original to the set. But it does work well with it and it is a good fit. The tray is only marked Made in Holland. Date: Mid to late 20th Century Origin: Holland or the Netherlands Size: Creamer is 3 1/8" at its highest. 2" diameter at the base, and is 4 1/16" at its widest point including the handle and spout. The sugar Bowl is 3 1/4" tall with the ... morelid on, 2 3/16" diameter at the base, and is 4" in diameter at its widest. The tray is 8 3/4" by 3 7/8" and is 1/2" high. Maker: The sugar and creamer are made by Royal Holland Pewter. KMD Tiel. Tray is unknown. Marks: Engraved on the bottom of both creamer and sugar in a circle the words"Royal Holland Pewter" and in the center of the circle the words K. M. D. Tiel with a crown on top. The tray is marked Mad in Holland on one of the handles. Distinguishing Characteristics- Most Interesting About The Piece: A nice set with the antique classical shape and look. All three pieces are offered for the price of one. Condition: All three pieces are in good condition. Both the creamer and sugar have scratches and dings to the sides and the base. The lid of the sugar has a bent portion on the edge of the rim. But still fits very well into the opening. The tray also has scratches all over but no dings that we could find. Vintage German Master Beer Stein Merkelbach & Wick Stoneware Great Pewter Lid
Up for auction is a Stoneware Merkelbach and Wick master Stein/ Pitcher. This appears to be a 2 liter stein with a coat of arms on the belly of the stein. Great Pewter lid and thumblift with good aged patina with a slight scratch or two. No detection of any chips. Flakes, cracks or repairs. On each side of the neck of the stein is an external hairline/ mold seam. They are almost identical and appear to line up as if this was a 2 piece molded stein. Nothing visible on internal glazing. Bottom of stein is slightly uneven giving the piece a little wiggle when standing. Lid covers well but pewter strap has a little movement to it on the handle. The stein stands 12 inches to top of finial. The body has an outer circumference of about 19 inches. A Nice example for your collection. Pictures should tell the story

The design appears to be Leafs and Berries. In two shades of green, red(dark) berries, and brown branches surrounding the center Crest Design of the teapot. The berry design is in on both front and back, and along the spout of the teapot. And yes, speaking of the spout, some dear owner, cut down the spout, where I suspect it was chipped. They did a good job quite even, and no chips from the"adjustment" The pewter top is intact, and fashioned well, but has a slight bend, but it is from the inside hinge. The handle has painted on the top and running along the middle of the handle. It in in perfect condition. No cracks, chips, or nicks. No Cracks. Chips, flecks, glazing of the teapot, only a shortening of the spout. Just a great piece! Very old nicely decorated heavy stoneware beer stein with pewter lid. Used but in good condition. The pottery has no chips or cracks but the pewter lid has a few marks. See pictures. Here we have a superb vintage trinket box with a heavy pewter lid decorated with a Celtic Cross. The inside of the lid is stamped BJC Pewter. BJC may stand for British Jewellery Company. The wooden box section is in excellent condition. As is the lid. The base of the interior is lined with brown felt, so it doesn't overly stand out. The lid just comes straight off, as it was designed to, so as such, is a piece, if being used or displayed should be stood, rather than carried in your pocket for example. The overall weight is 63 grammes of which 48 grammes is the pewter lid. Measurements are approximately 5 cms by 5 cms and 3 cms tall. This is a fantastic little collectable. This auction is for an Antique Salt Glaze Tea Pot with Pewter lid. The teapot. Which measures approximately 5 inches long by 3 1/2 inches. Is in GOOD Condition with no chips. Cracks or crazing(it is possible there is a flee bite chip- pencil point size- on the end of the spout, but I think it is glazed over, so it maybe from the time of making) The teapot has the British Registration mark which shows this pot was made on Oct. 17. 1883. The teapot is decorated with Scottish Thistles on the upper half and a Basket Weave patter on the lower half. As I can see no real use for a pot this small. It appears to be hand painted with a sail ship passing a lighthouse on the sea. There is a definite change of colours from the green/blue seas to the clear blue sky. I figure this piece hails from the mid to late 1850s because it is unmarked(not required at time of manufacturing) and the pewter lid has been soldered onto the porcelain and this has broken off somewhat(see picture 3) The pewter lid should have a*pin* going through the holes to hold the lid onto the bowl which is missing. Certainly not a perfect piece however a very old pretty piece. The porcelain has been banged or been dropped as there are two*cracks* on the ... moreinside back of the piece. The pewter lid someone has taken a piece of steel wool to it so scratched and on the back right hand side the pewter has either flaked off or come into contact with acid. This piece stands 3/4" tall from base to top of pewter lid and is 3 1/2" wide. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in asking me. Vintage German Ceramic Wine Pitcher with Pewter Lid Leafy Grape Grapevine Motif
Offered is a vintage. German made, green, ceramic wine or water pitcher, with pewter lid. It is in very good condition. With no chips, cracks, or paint loss. It shows a leafy grapes. 3 dimensional(not flat) motif. Swirled effect and trim at the base is reminiscent of a Roman theme. Pewter quality is heavier& has an older look; finial works fine& is well constructed. On the lower part is a 1/2' Small sideways line, but it looks to be something made during production& is not a scratch. It measures 7 6/16" tall by about 4 1/8" wide. Not counting the handle. With handle, it is about 5 18" wide. Handle opening is 1 1/8" Top opening is about 2 1/8" wide. Photos were taken with& without flash. This listing is for a German Stoneware Beer Stein from the 1950s. It is decorated with'BFV' in an oval plaque painted in blue& white with blue diamonds. 2nd Juni 1954 Munchen' is painted underneath the plaque. I believe that the letters'BFV' relate to the Bavarian Football Association but I can't find the significance of the date. The base has impressed letters'LL' and'RG' is also marked. So far I haven't been able to identify the maker. The stein has a fitted pewter decorated lid. This is impressed with'MORY' There is a figure of a monk on the top of the handle hinge. Mid 19th Century Dudson Jasper ware Jug - Pewter LId
Mid 19th Century Dudson Pewter lidded Jasper Ware glazed Jug that features Three Muses in relief. The Pewter lid has a finial with a feather design at its base that curls up to the top. The lid is heart shaped. Whose edges are gently sloped into the center. This creates a raised heart shaped center area that has a raised ridge that continues to the lip edge. The upper most edge of the jug is trimmed with pewter, which guaranteed that it would not get chipped. The base of of the pale blue glazed jug has an acorn and oak leaf design that encircles the upper part of the jug. Elaborate columns separate the three muses. The handle has a rope design. The pitcher slightly tapers from the top to bottom. This was probably used as a milk pitcher. Measuring approximately 6 1/2" to the top of the finial and 5 1/2" spout to end of the handle. ... moreThe piece is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips or crazing. The bottom carries an impressed marking of"DUDSON ENGLAND and a B U C" I believe that the initials are those of the potter and decorator. The impressed mark was used 1838-1888. Dudson was located on Hope and Hanover Streets in Hanley. Stafforshire. Dudson made Jasper Ware in the Wedgwood style. Dudson Jasper Ware is glazed and does not have a matte finish, which, I have found to be very attractive. If you love antique English pottery. This is a wonderful piece from the Victorian period. Very nice little.25 L high relief pottery stein with renaissance couple on front. And to the sides are panels of a man on one side and a woman on the other with verse below. Basic green& brown glaze over cream colored clay indicates an early production of these steins as well as the handle attachment. Vintage .25 L German Pottery Stein with Pewter Lid (277)
Another very nice little.25 L high relief pottery stein with renaissance couple on front. And to the sides are panels of a man on one side and a woman on the other with verse below. Basic green& brown glaze over cream colored clay indicates an early production of these steins as well as the handle attachment. This is almost identical to my other stein numbered 276 with only slightly different colors in some places. Early Stoneware Salt Glazed Stein w/Pewter Lid (278)
Nice early 1900s salt glazed stein with German parlor scene on front and alpine home to the sides all in raised relief. Nice strong well defined details. The pewter lid has a nice dark patina and a rather small thumblift/strap assembly which has some slight play in it. The capacity mark.05L is on the center of the back just below the rim. Stands 7 1/2” tall. As seen in the pictures there is a rather severe chip on the bottom of the back edge that is about 1 inch wide but there are no other chips or cracks anywhere. Nice mix of bisque& gloss finishes. The pewter lid has more repeating relief motif of hops buds on the vine and the thumblift is a hops bud as well.
