However I am not an expert on glass so please see pictures for a better idea. The shaker is in good condition but does have several small chips or nicks on the top rim. Both of these show there age with some discoloration. I have not tried to clean this. They may never clean up. I don't know. There is some edge wear to the taller one. The smaller one is apparently is 3 part mold blown. I have checked the inside of this piece and you can tell that it is blown into a mold. It is also been engraved. DO NOT DUPLICATE OR COPY! PA For your Antique Glass Shaker Collection Details Description: A beautiful light blue colored opaque glass mold blown shaker in the Spider Web pattern. There is six bulging lobes around the circumference. The shaker. Which is colored in opaque light blue or turquoise, has a raised motif of intricate scroll on the entire body. This web like motif completely covers the entire shaker. The design or pattern is raised and is really very nicely done. The shaker has a screw on metal top and a footed based with a recessed center. This is a rather rare and unusual shaker. See page 67 in Mildred& Ralph Lechner's book"The World of Salt Shakers, published by Collector Books of Paducah, KY in 1992 for a similar example. Right off the bat I want to state that I've done a lot of research on this cutie but have only come away with lots of confusion. Measuring with original pewter lid this shaker stands approximately 5 inches tall and measures approximately 2 3/4 inches at the base. Including lid. It weighs 11.8 ounces on my postal scale. It has what I always thought was a telltale sign of hand blown glass having the little rough feeling indention circle on the bottom of the shaker. When I run my finger on the inside of the glass. There are four rows of bulging petals around the circumference. The shaker. Which is colored in opaque pink, has a motif of bulges with small dots between them all in a raised design. Antique Blue Milk Glass, Oak Leaf Wrapped, Mold Blown Shaker
This is a sky-blue milk glass shaker with an oak-leaf pattern that wraps around. The oak leaves have beautifully detailed venation. From what research I've done via internet. This piece was most likely produced between 1890-1910. Shakers like this were blown into a mold and broken off the pipe at the top lip which was left rough on these antique shakers. The lid covers the roughness. Lid is the original and seems to be either pewter or silver due to it's relative heaviness; it has normal discoloration with no cracks or excessive wear. There are 4 mold lines and it measures 2.75" tall and 2" at widest point. No manufacturing markings. There is one small chip at the base of the shaker(see pictures) No cracks or repairs. It is in very good condition and not excellent due to the minor chip at the base. It’s a unique and beautiful ... morepiece for the addition to a collection or as decoration. It is more expensive but worth it for your and my protection as EXPERIENCE has shown this to be the safest way to ship fragile items. The cost between Priority and Parcel Post under 5 pounds is insignificant. If over 10 pounds I generally ship UPS as safest way to go. Additionally I pack and wrap things very well to insure safe arrival. This is for an antique Edwardian period blown glass Salt& Pepper shakers with Mother of Pearl and silver plate tops setting in a cut glass tray. The cut glass tray has very little roughness and in the last photo you may be able to see the engraved floral design on it's low side. The shakers are 2 1/4" tall and the tray measures 4 1/2" ... morex 2 1/2" Thanks for looking and good luck! This weighs 2 pounds Priority shipping with insurance included. There ARE NO charges for packing and wrapping but are always just the USPS charges. If I miss the weight it comes out of MY pocket not yours. THESE COSTS ARE FOR YOUR PROTECTION! Please understand that. This item may weigh out as much as 15 ounces less than the indicated weight BUT the USPS rounds UP the weight to the greatest pound over that additional ounce. This is true whether Priority or Parcel Post- this is NOT my doing. I spend a lot on bubble wrap and am glad to offer it for FREE but am at a loss as to why I am being consistently down rated on the cost of the postage and handling which I have NO control over. Ebay Listing Page Antique Boston& Sandwich Blown Mold Blue Glass Agitator Salt& Pepper Shakers Item Description: Up for auction is a nice pair of antique blown mold blue glass salt and pepper shakers manufactured by the Boston& Sandwich Glass Co. during the late 1800s. The shakers are in the barrel form and they include their original Alden perforated lids with agitator inside one. The shakers themselves are not marked. But they are documented and similar shakers are shown in Barlow and Kaiser's A Guide to Sandwich Glass books. The shakers stand about 2 1/2" tall. And the lid has a patent date of December 25, 1877. Item Condition: The overall condition of the shakers is excellent. They are extremely clean and have no chips. Cracks, or repaired areas. There is some roughness around the top rims as expected though. The ... morelids are in excellent condition with some tarnishing, and they screw on and off easily and fit snug. The agitator has some rust on it, but most of this can be cleaned off with vinegar if desired. I prefer to leave things as they are. The agitator still functions as it should.
