Both hand decorated and both with a baby thumb print optic pattern. Although they were attributed to Mt. Washington when purchased, maker is uncertain and Hobbs should also be considered. Each shaker stands about 2 1/4" tall top the top of the cap and the ball bases are about 2" in diameter. Both appear to be in fine condition, no damage to the glass and expected signs of wear to the metal fittings.Very modest loss of applied floral decoration from wear. Mt Washington antique fig shaped salt and pepper shakers. They measure 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. Very nice floral designs! The salt shaker is deep pink with blue and pink flowers. The pepper shaker is white with blue. Green and pink colors. All are muted. The tops are removable for filling shakers. They have prongs on the ends for fitting into the shaker. The form and outstanding color blending from fuchsia to honey amber places this ribbed salt shaker within Mt. Washington’s Rose Amber line of production. It stands 3 7/8th inches tall and the ribs twist slightly to the right. There is base wear. A small impact on a rib and take note of the ring of wear around the shoulder from years of being paired with its mate. The lid has its original patina and there is plaster in evidence on the inside of the collar. Heavy flint glass from the 1870’s period of production, great color, it is in good condition. Offering a rare hand painted Mt.Washington opalware salt shaker which depicts a Brownie and a Bug. Brownies were popular in childrens books by Palmer Cox. Known as The Palmer Cox Brownies. The shaker measures 2 3/4" tall. Background colors are a soft white with a touch of light pink which is located on the bottom half of the shaker. Both the Brownie and Bug are eye- catching subjects.
