The 1920's Nez Perez corn husk bag with yarn designs. I am not sure, but I think the yarn might be german town wool. The bag is about 11" high x 9" wide. There are 2 leather straps about 1/4" wide x 5 1/2" high. One side of the bag has(15) diamonds. Of(2) shades of red, and a red line across the top. The diamonds are about 1 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high x 1/4" thick. The other side of the bag(2 sets) of triangles connected with a baby blue line. The colors of the triangle are. Baby blue, cream color, and a light yellow. In the middle is a design with triangles. And a cross inside a diamond. The diamond and(4) triangles are orange, 2) triangles with(2) shades of red, 2) triangles with black, gray, and dark green. Rare Antique Tintype Of Native American Indian In Corn Husk Costume Circa 1870's
This is a 4" X 2 1/4" tintype dating to circa 1870. The subject is a rare image of a Native American Indian in his corn husk costume. As you can see. His outfit is made entirely of corn husks, possibly for a ceremony or celebration. Yes, the condition is not good. It appears it was once folded in half and possibly hit with buckshot. Luckily none of the dents have pierced the tintype; and, as you can see, clear photos can be taken of this wonderful man. He has many stories to tell. I will be happy to answer any questions and. Plateau Native American Corn Husk Bag Umatilla Indian 1880's Nez Perce Yakima
This is an outstanding hand woven corn husk twine bag from the plateau tribes of the Pacific Northwest. The original owner stated in the 1980's that the bag was made by the Umatilla tribe and was over 100 years old. That would date the bag to around the 1880's and possibly earlier. The item was probably used as a purse. It measures 16 inches by 12.5 inches and is in very nice condition and is very well designed. The colors are bright and looks like it was used very little. Old Corn Husk Iroquois Indian Couple Native American Indian
This is really an exceptional pair of corn husk Iroquois dolls. The are beautifully tied in the strong. Traditional way of authentic, old Iroquois corn husk dolls. Standing firmly at 7" the boy has braided corn husk arms, wears two strands of glass beads around his neck, and has a beaded felt headband around his yarn hair. The girl is 6" tall and has a very detailed outfit made from the husks. Her moccasins are separate from her husk leggings. Her dress is folded under at the hem, and she has a wide waistband. Around her neck is a strand of glass beads and beads decorate the felt headband that goes around her yarn hair. There are a few beads missing from the top of her headband and she has a few small moth holes that are not noticeable unless you look closely. The boy's clothing is also very intricate with different layers of ... morehusks. He is in great condition other than a few strips of husks missing from the front of his outfit and a little shredding of the husks on the outside of the moccasins. These are from my own collection and are the nicest Iroquois corn husk dolls I have ever owned that do not have clothing. This is an early Iroquois corn husk doll. Probably Seneca, dating from about 1870, if not earlier. The head and limbs are made from corn husks. Her dress is a burgundy colored wool( trade cloth trimmed with faded blue silk and white and light blueseed beads. Underneath is a skirt of dark blue wool broad cloth, also edged with silk and beads. She wears leggings of blue stroud trade cloth, edged with transparent yellow beads and moccasins of brain-tanned hide made in the traditional" puckered" style common to the region at that period. Her belt and shawl are of red silk that is fraying. Her hair is dark blue/ black cotton( cloth. The condition is very good for a piece of this age. Minor bead loss. Here is an elderly pair of Iroquois grandparents sitting on their wooden stumps in their traditional costumes. They are some seriously adorable cornhusk dolls in lovingly tailored costumes. The man wears his beaded fringe deerskins and sports long silver braids.The female elder is wearing her yarn trimmed wool shawl a lace edged calico dress and beaded leggings. Both wear moccasins. Each figure is seated on a section of tree branch that creates a doll size stump. The poses are really nicely done and they will look amazing huddled together in your displays. They are 7 inches tall. These truly special little creations have been restored. When I collected them something had went wrong with the cornhusk on their faces. Each face had developed large dark brown spots which were perhaps caused by acids from the adhesives? It was heart breaking to ... morehave these unsightly blotches on these rare and wonderful pieces. I decided to coat the large brown spots with a coat of reddish brown oil paint. I'm happy with the result as the color provides nice contrast with silver hair and light costumes. The paint also fortifies the troubled husk and seals it's pores. A light browning stain had also appeared on the grandfathers shoulders so a little paint was also lightly touched on to his upper coat. I believe these adhesive acid? problems are now neutralized. The dolls are not wet or mildewed or otherwise off putting.As you can see. They are rare beauties. I really have not seen Iroquois huskies half as evocative as these! You are bidding on a very early Indian Corn Husk doll. This is one of many doll that were recently inherited from a family member and are known to be very old. My Relatives traveled extensively throughout the years and collected dolls from around the world. I will also be listing the girl that looks very similar to this doll and may they have been a pair(please check my other auctions) The doll stands approximately 9 3/4" tall. It is in excellent condition for it's age with only light staining to some areas of the shirt(see pics. The flash actually makes them appear worse than they actually are) Being very picky, there are two pin holes in the material one on the side of one moccasin and one on the back of the hat. There were actually several different materials used to make the cloths of the doll. The hat and moccasins appear to ... morebe made of a heavy brown wool material, the shirt of an old blue cloth and the pants also appear to be made of a black wool and a beautiful soft purplish satin. All the stitching was hand done. One of the most incredible features of the doll is the beautiful and plentiful beading. The beads are bright red, silver and white color and I could not find any bead loss.Please notice the unusual beaded"Swastika" sign on the hat. I did some research and found that American Indians were kown to use this sign and it was more commonly used by the Navajo Tribe. This one of a kind piece is marked from One of the settlements of the Six Nations on the Grand River Territory. This wonderful and very rare style of corn husk doll is a apple head. Very few of these types of dolls have been discovered that are more than a few years old. An apple is peeled and sculpted with facial features then allowed to dry. Circa 1895, is done in the trademark blended brown glaze with a slip design of a corn cob, complete with husk, corn silk and leaves.very realistic in its design. While there are no chips, cracks or damage, there is crazing, mostly around the stepped bottom rim, that's easily visible without any help. Crazing is typical of these high gloss glazes on most art pottery pieces, whether they be Weller, Roseville or Rookwood. Interesting handle has a flared thumbgrip and a little cut out at the bottom. The brown glaze is darkest around the corn design, but to one side, it does pale to a greenish ... moretan. Marked Lowelsa Weller on the bottom, along with the item number 300 and an impressed F. I love Blue- and that is why I bought it. Used to serve bread and then has been in storage for years. I am downsizing and just do not have a use for it- or a place to put it. Vintage Hand Made 100% Corn Husk Doll So Illinois Arts and Crafts Guild 8 1/2"
For your bidding is a very old Victorian style corn husk doll. She stands 8 1/2" tall. Her dress and hat are corn husks that have been beautifully hand painted with an all over green stain wash and detailed designs painted with green and white paint. Her head is either a nut or a seed of some kind that has a detailed hand painted face and black hair. Her hat is what is amazing. It is twisted to resemble a victorian hat with real peacock feathers at the crown. The label stapled to the back of her dress has the Southern Illinois Arts and Crafts Guild. BEAUTIFUL c.1890 Nez Perce Plateau Indian Corn Husk Bag
This wonderful. Smaller-sized Nez Perce(or other Plateau Indian) corn husk bag is in remarkable condition for its age. As is typical. There are different designs on both sides, with the motifs woven in wool. There are some losses in the wool. But both sides have visually striking and appealing designs. The corn husk has a wonderful old patina and is in perfect condition. This is an unlined bag and it includes the original leather handles. It also has one other long leather attachment with 3 beads on the end. This bag is a gem. Size is 8.25" long x 7" wide across the bottom(narrowing to 6.75" wide across the opening) The scans show both sides. I will be selling pieces from my collection throughout the next week or so. VTG CORN HUSK DOLLS x3 MINIATURES &DOG HAND MADE CRAFT PRAIRIE GIRLS SHADOW BOX
You are bidding on: A SET OF VINTAGE SMALL CORN HUSK MINIATURE DOLLS. THREE CALICO DRESS WOMEN WITH BONNETS AND DOG. This is small set of handcrafted corn husk dolls. Four pieces in all. I can't remember exactly when or where these came from; I've been collecting so many things for so long it's not always easy to say. I know that I've had them around for several years now, and they likely came from an earlier estate or auction purchase. There is a trio of girls in bonnets and dresses. The tallest(the Mom? is about 3.5" inches and the other two about 3" tall. Large one has a straw broom and the red one a bundle of kindling; I think the brown one maybe used to have a few more flowers in her arms. Which you could easily replace with a few small dried or fresh flowers. Their bodies are all corn-husk bundles(see photo ... morefrom bottom) not just husks over some other form. The dog is really cute too! Everything looks to be handmade, tied and decorated. Really cool vintage hand crafted dolls for the collector. Iroquois Corn Husk Doll Great leather/bead details Native American Indian
This is a very old Iroquois doll made in the traditional way with corn husks. The American Indians were the first to make dolls using corn husks and they taught the first European this doll making technique. This sweet little corn husk doll wears a cotton fabric shirt with an awesome leather and metal studded belt. Around his neck is a scarf and a beautiful beaded bolo tie. Leather moccasins are on his feet. The pants he is wearing are made from dark blue wool. All the clothing is hand-sewn with little stitches. The top of his head is covered with brown human hair. There is only a small amount of damage to the husks- some holes on his face and a little shredding of the husk on the hand that is extended(see photos) There are some really nice decorative details on this doll that make a big difference to the quality. The scarf holder that is ... morebeaded is delicate and so nicely beaded with the tiniest beads I have ever seen. There are orange and blue ribbons hanging from his shoulders on the front and the back, on one side some long decorative beads hang from his belt on leather strings, and the moccasins on his feet are delicate and very finely sewn. Also, the leather and metal belt is an unusual one of such nice quality for a small corn husk doll. He is just really a good collectible representing the Iroquois history, culture, and artistry. This great little doll is a little over 5" tall.

14" Antique Iroquois Corn husk Doll Cool Feet Native American Indian
This tall. Old Iroquois corn husk doll is cleverly constructed in the traditional way of the Iroquois People. He wears a fabric tunic and gabric pants. Beads decorate both and are in good condition. The sides of his pants have a ribbon trim which is very faded and shredding- this gives him a very nice aged appearance. At one time he had some leather moccasins, and one remaining piece is tied onto his foot with an old rubber band. His feet are absolutely wonderful! Without the moccasins, you can see the very coll construction of how the husks are tied. Facial features are drawn on his husk face framed by black yarn hair. An old fabric headband is pinned around his head. The old corn husk dolls are some of my favorite. The Iroquois actually made dolls with corn husks for generations before teaching this technique to the first Europeans. This ... morespecific doll is quite unique and a real collector's item.

Wonderful Old Iroquois Corn Husk Doll with Fingers Native American Indian
This is a wonderful old Iroquois corn husk doll with actual tied fingers. I have never seen an Iroquois doll with these before. He is very sturdy and made from corn husk in the old traditional way of the Iroquois People. The leather outfit he wears is detailed with fringe and beads. On his feet are leather. Beaded moccasins. The facial features on his husk face are drawn on- his cheeks made of natural color from a plant or berry. On his head is black, yarn hair. Beautifully made and in excellent condition for age(no moth or other insect holes) he stands 7" tall. The old corn husk dolls are some of my favorite. The Iroquois taught the first Europeans to make dolls using this old technique- just such rich history and artistry.
