Including the frame, it measures 18" by 14" The actual image size measures 10 1/2" by 8" The print is a fantasy scene, that takes place at night. It includes a pond with water lilies, numerous nude fairies, an owl, and a moon. Unfortunately, I don't know who the artist is. The bottom, right corner is stamped by the company that produced it: J.G. Bach, Leipzig. When I researched this company, I found that all of the prints that they produced were done between the mid 1800's- the late 1800's. The frame is made out of a very heavy, rich, wood. Up for bid is another delightful recent find. This is a vintage white porcelain Owl Figural pin cushion. The'cushion' is surrounded by pink. Blue and yellow flowers. The pins were removed for the photo but I'd be happy to include them in the winning bid. This figural owl pin cushion measures just under 3" in height. It is in nice pre-owned condition with no damage to be noted just the'cushion' shows signs of use and age. The original label is no longer attached but I was informed it was possibly made by Irice Japan. I have a dresser lipstick holder caddy in the same porcelain and flowers that does have the Irice label which leads me to believe they are from the same maker and era. most likely 1960's or early 1970s. ITEM: Under the virtual hammer this week is a wonderful pair of Arts& Crafts bronze. Sand-cast owl bookends. These were made by a fairly obscure company called Gift House Inc. under the'BronzeMet' logo, established in 1922(unfortunately, the hallmark is very nearly illegible; however, I have provided an example for comparison) ... moreBronzeMet was a contemporary of the larger, more prolific companies of Armor, Bradley& Hubbard, Galvano, Kathodian, Marion, and Pompeian. Here is some additional information I've discovered: BronzMet was a distinctive logo patented by The Gift House. Inc. in 1922. They produced a large variety of sand cast iron bookends. Gift House was in business from the early 1920s producing their own line of iron bookends with copyrights dating from 1924-1926. At one time there was also a distribution liaison between Gift House and Nuart Metal Creations who was listed as a Gift House subsidiary. All three bookend lines. Hard hit by the Great Depression, were out of business by the mid 1930s. These stylish bookends are certainly top-quality. Heavy pieces with a wonderful patina on them. Each owl, standing on an open book, is burnished in lush, coppery bronze. Owls are, of course, the ancient symbol of wisdom and erudition. A fine porcelain miniature pitcher, owl head I think, but the more I look it may be some other bird head, has the brown glaze on it that was used by Schafer Vater on some bottles, so feel certain it was made in Germany, no chips or cracks or flakes.
