It is an extraordinary find, of special interest to ... moreantique collectors, and one that would make a memorable gift. An outstanding feature is that it was made in 1785 and is approximately 228 years old! The English silversmith hallmarks along the bottom edge spell out its unique history. Maker's Mark: Bold initials"RH" in an oval escutcheon. Granted in 1783 to the maker, Robert Hennell Silver Mark: Lion Passant- sterling silver content.925 Date Letter: Small letter"k" in a shield-like escutcheon. Equals 1785 date of assay in London City Mark: crowned leopard's head" means London was place of manufacture Duty Mark: left facing profile of George III" from Dec 1784 to May 1786 indicated duty was paid The piece stands about 2 inches high on 4 ball and claw feet. It is 3 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide. The entire salt cellar weighs approximately 6 ounces. With the silver frame at 2 ounces and the glass insert at 4 ounces. The silver frame has beautiful lattice work along the upper perimeter. Topped off by an elegant edge trim. Along the sides, is the graceful engraving into the silver of a garland of roses, intertwined with a ribbon. Also, one side is engraved a capital letter"B" and the other side has a design resembling a clock face. There was no indication of any defects or scratches on the silver frame. The cobalt blue insert. Has an amazing color, especially when held up to sunlight or other bright light. At the bottom of the insert is an etching of an eight pointed star. This refracts the light passing through, enhancing its beauty. There is a 3/4 inch imperfection and a small chip on the bottom outside edge of the insert. Marked on bottom with W Westmoreland logo. Numbers on the bottom are a litt le hard to read Pepper is 13? and Salt 23? 3 1/2" tall. CONDITION: C lean and not sticky. There is six bulging lobes around the circumference. The shaker. Which is colored in opaque light blue or turquoise, has a raised motif of intricate scroll on the entire body. This web like motif completely covers the entire shaker. The design or pattern is raised and is really very nicely done. The shaker has a screw on metal top and a footed based with a recessed center. Great 1800's Victorian Blue Custard Milk Glass Salt Shaker. This wonderful shaker measures 3 1/4" in height and 2 1/2" at its widest point at the base. I was told it was Northwood but not sure. It has a dainty flower with scroll work pattern and tiny little beading throughout the piece. Not sure if the top is original but it is what was on it when purchased. It is in wonderful condition for its age with only one tiny little flee bite to the base which I could not photograph well. There is some nicks to the glass cap as can be seen in the photo but the blue glass is nice! A must have for any collection! Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Victorian shaker blue pattern glass salt or pepper shaker
A Victorian salt or pepper shaker. It is thick blue pattern glass. I don't know the maker or the exact age. It is 3" tall x 2 1/4" at its widest point. The pattern has raised vertical ovals with scrolls and tiny flowers. The top screws on and is metal; I'm not sure what kind but it is not sterling silver. It is in clean wonderful condition for its age. There are no cracks. The top opening of the shaker is rough around the whole area. No major chips but just rough large flea bites. The lid is in good condition too. It has no dents or broken holes. The metal is slightly discolored and it may come off with a cleaning. But it has the right patina now. I have 2 other Victorian shakers listed in different colors and patterns and will combine shipping.

Antique Blue Milk Glass, Oak Leaf Wrapped, Mold Blown Shaker
This is a sky-blue milk glass shaker with an oak-leaf pattern that wraps around. The oak leaves have beautifully detailed venation. From what research I've done via internet. This piece was most likely produced between 1890-1910. Shakers like this were blown into a mold and broken off the pipe at the top lip which was left rough on these antique shakers. The lid covers the roughness. Lid is the original and seems to be either pewter or silver due to it's relative heaviness; it has normal discoloration with no cracks or excessive wear. There are 4 mold lines and it measures 2.75" tall and 2" at widest point. No manufacturing markings. There is one small chip at the base of the shaker(see pictures) No cracks or repairs. The glass bottom is completely flat. There is a very light ding on the outside rim of the top. you have to look hard to find it. The top screws on and off very easily. They are about 2.5" tall and in their roundness are about 3" in diameter. Metal tops with holes for the salt and pepper accompany them and are bent in just a bit. Very nice! A must have. Very unusual Lattice Work Silver Plate over Cobalt Blue Glass. Received decades ago as a gift. But have downsized and must purge my beloved possessions. Silver plate is in very good condition, unscratched, with a teeny dimple or two on one, but not noticeable at all. Bottom is stamped"UK PAT NO 20264" so I'm thinking these were probably made in the United Kingdom. Measures approximately 4 3/4" from base to top of filial.
