RARE ANTIQUE OAK SALESMAN'S SAMPLE Miniature EASTLAKE MIRRORED BUREAU/ DRESSER Circa 1870-1885 A FIND! Up for auction is a RARE ANTIQUE OAK SALESMAN'S SAMPLE Miniature EASTLAKE MIRRORED BUREAU/ DRESSER Circa 1870-1885. Includes antique oak ornate Eastlake style mirrored dresser with candle holders and lift up compartment on bureau. Ornate applied molding at top of fancy scrolled mirror frame. Mirror can tilt. Grid lines on drawer fronts are typical of Eastlake style of the late 19th century. Regarding wood color, it is a medium oak color(looks a bit more red/orange in the photos) Any dark areas are shadows and white areas are reflections. As you can see this is a wonderful piece and could be used in many places in a home, whether as a miniature Salesman's Sample or a doll bureau for dolls. Condition is very good, sturdy and clean, ... moreno odors, ready to go into your home. As with most antiques, it has it's minor flaws, nothing to totally distract from it's beauty, or usability, aged wood has such character. It does have some chips, dings, and marks, and one missing drawer pull. I chose to sell this item with the original pulls and it is your choice to replace them with 6 other pulls if you wish, or find a matching plain black knob. Seems to be original finish but I am not sure. Could be improved with restoration but again that is your choice. Drawers work fair, no sticking. Mirror is in very good condition and has wide bevel, might be new, and is missing the wooden backing. One peg missing underneath mirror outer frame but other three hold it in place fine. Mirror frame is attached to bureau with pegs that just slip into holes in the bureau ledge, and more brackets in back. All in all a fabulous miniature! Hard to find miniature Eastlake style. Antique Miniature Marquetry Chest of Drawers Apprentice piece Collectors Cabinet
Description This chest sold a month ago to a bidder that lives in Australia. I could not ship him the chest there because of shipping restrictions please see note below. My fault. I did not realize the size box that would be necessary to ship this chest safely. So my appologies. Here we go again. This listing is for a really quite spectacular circa 1850 very elaborate apprentice cabinet circa 1850 or so. The cabinet measures 19 inches high by 16 inches across and 8 inches deep. 48 by 40 by 20 cm) The cabinet has 4 wallpaper lined drawers. Each drawer has a brass escutcheon and two round wood pulls each with a brass star. The cabinet is mahogany with the top. Front and both sides covered in marquetry work. The marquetry work is at least 6 different woods including olive and fruit woods. The drawers are flanked by columns with fancy capitals ... moreand bases. The whole sits on 4 bun feet. As you can see by the photographs the cabinet is a really beautiful example of"proof" that an apprentice had achieved mastery of his cabinet making skills. The condition is also exceptional for it's age and virtually untouched as far as restorations or repairs. The drawers maintain their original wall paper interiors. There are two relatively pieces of marquetry work missing on the top but otherwise the cabinet is in really fine shape. Shipping anywhere in the US via UPS Ground with full insurance is $30.00. Miniature American Classical(Late Federal) Mahogany Chest of Drawers New England c. 1810-20 Item# 130105RQY17 This is a very fine American Classical(Late Federal) Mahogany Chest of Drawers. A Salesman's Sample of Miniature dimensions c. 1810-20. It is crafted of solid mahogany(top, sides, drawer fronts, drawer secondaries, columns) mahogany veneers(stile facings on right and left of drawers and drawer blades) white pine secondaries(back, bottom, interior blocking) rosewood(knobs) and unidentified stringer inlays(appear to be holly or satinwood) The top is rectangular in form. Projecting over the front and sides with tight turrets at the corners over spiral-turned columns- these complex formations transition from a series of tight ring turnings into the spiral balusters over tiny urns and completed with a series of complex ring turnings ... moreover cork feet. The columns define the chest, greatly elevating the form with tasteful embellishment that does not distract from the overall composition. The graduated two over three drawers retain their original rosewood knobs, these flanking the inverted tear-drop escutcheons and framed as a whole in the rectangular stringer inlays. Dovetail construction dominates the chest. Through dovetails securing the sides of the case to the bottom and presumably to the interior framing upon which the top is set(unable to verify without removing the top) The back board is deeply chamfered to slide into rabbets in the sides and is secured with glued blocks inside the case and tacks along the lower edge. The drawers are likewise dovetailed front and back, the bottom board on four of the five with mitered edges to slide into rabbeted drawer sides: one of the tiny drawers varies in construction from the other four. The bottom board is chamfered along the edges, sliding into rabbets in the drawer sides. Counter to the two-and-one-fourth dovetail pins securing the fronts of the other drawers, this tiny drawer has just two dovetail pins without the lapped edge on the bottom. However

I believe it is empire style. It measures 8 1/2" wide by 8 3/3" high by 4" deep. drawers are all dovetailed by hand and square head nails used for the other parts. There is grooves on the top drawers where I believe there was a mirror at one time which has been long lost. It is missing one pull and I don't know if they are original. One leg is missing in the back. the piece does have a piece off of the front edge of the top. I believe it is the original finish with wear from the years. Here is a miniature dresser that because of the pin cushion and rods we assume is a sewing box of some sort. Not doll furniture. It measures a little under 10" tall, 8" wide, 4 1/2" deep. There are some spots missing the rods, and one of the hinges is loose because it is missing the lower part of the hinge. The mirror glass is not in great shape. No missing porcelain knobs. Age appropriate wear, partial label on the base is not readable, all we can make out is patent applied for. On the bottom of the drawer all we can make out is Naples NY and part of someone's name. For bid is an old. Victorian era wood doll house or TOY or DOLL DRESSER with three drawers with brass pulls! This wonderful piece of miniature furniture features wonderful details and very old-looking wood with some signs of age and wear. The entire item is made with very nice detail, very similar to a full sized piece of furniture. This chest of drawers stands just over 9 1/2 inches tall by about 6 1/2 inches deep. The widest measurement is over 12 1/2 inches. I’m guessing this item dates from about the 1880’s. It may have been made in the United States or somewhere else. I’m really not sure! This is a beautiful and quite rare antique miniature chest of drawers. It appears to be a furniture salesman's sample. The style appears to be an 18th century style. This piece is quite old and appears to be at least early 19th century and possibly earlier. Many of the drawers appear to be made from pieces of wooden antique cigar boxes. The chest of drawers measures 14" tall x 9 3/4" wide at widest point x 6" deep not including the handles. It has wear from use but overall has a great antique style and looks amazing. Vintage Salesman Sample Miniature Dresser 3 Drawer Chest Late 19Th Early 20Th C
Antique. Miniature 3-Drawer Chest of Drawers- I believe it is an early salesman sample that was eventually transformed into a child's doll furniture piece. The Drawer Pulls are in proper proportion to the chest. And are uncommon in size and dimension. The rear panel has apparent age and appropriate patina. The drawers are made of wood. Not laminate. The are nailed together and may have been reinforced a long time ago. There is a circular stain on the top that is clearly photographed. The varnish is certainly very old. The cut-out base is in proportion and very well woodworked. The applied decals depict charming children's Kitty Cat and Doggie images and appear to be applied perhaps in the 1950 or earlier.

Chest of Drawers made by Mr. Edwards in Eng for Grandma Annie Hepworth About 1865 Grandpa named after him(over) Given to Dorothy Hepworth by her Grandmother Charles Edwards Clark Hepworth Father of Dorothy Alice Hepworth Maslin It also has a reverse metal plate in the dresser with Dorothy Alice Hepworth on it. On the bottom of the drawer it has written in pencil. This belongs to Dorothy A Hepworth We were able to go to Ancestry and confirm that Dorothy Alice Hepworth Maslin was born in 1897. Which would match up with everything on this. The construction is with all square nails, some rubs, fleabytes, orange peeling to the finish and scratches to the wonderful grain painting, there is also a small amount of separation at the back corner seam, but overall a stunning example of mid 1800's English Folk Art. Read above Condition Description& use closeup feature to examine item; measures 12 1/2" tall x 9 3/4" wide at top x 5 1/2" deep including orig screw-in knobs; recessed 2 small top drawers over the 3 larger; cannot be certain of age. c.1850 Miniature Birdseye Maple Chest of Drawers - Apprentice or Salesman Sample
Antiques An amazing example of fine mid Victorian American craftsmanship- a small. Correct to scale model of a chest of drawers in wonderful Birdseye maple veneer. Everything is to scale down to the hand turned pulls, drawer locks, bun feet, etc. The secondary wood inside the drawers is mahogany. Note that the chest is stepped- 2 drawers up and down. The two sections are held together with screws. And the back of the chest is covered with a beveled walnut panel. Note the finger jointing on the drawers. The top, middle and base edges are beautifully molded and finished, including the rounded corners. Nice mellow age patina. The back panel and the two halves of the chest can be removed with 8 screws. This exceptional piece was likely a salesman sample or an apprentice piece. But could have been made for a child. It also would serve well as ... morea jewelery chest. Size is 23" x 17" x 9 1/2" Weight is 21 pounds. Condition is very good- some minor losses to the veneer. And a few areas of waviness to the top veneer. Overall an exceptional piece in unusually good condition for the age.

We were able to get this and many other great items as part of a Beverly Hills estate sale where there were loads of primitives. Very nice piece; The wood is in nice original condition. The 6 matching porcelain knobs add character and the dresser has a unique area set aside for a nameplate. This piece has a cardboard name plate bearing the name Abel Morrall's Redditch, an English company primarily doing business in the 1800's. It is hard to tell whether the nameplate was original to the piece but it is how we obtained it. The overall dimensions of the dresser are 19" tall x 17" wide x 10" deep. It measures 9 3/4" tall, 5" deep and 11" wide, with the top of the dresser extending out and measuring 12" wide, and 5 3/4" deep.
