The pediment does have one little round knob missing(see picture) It broke off years and years ago. Still looks beautiful and I don't think it's really noticable. The seat. Back and arms are covered with a gorgeous detailed woven carpet(all original) like material which is directly nailed to the frame. All original nails and is still sturdy(see pictures) I wouldn't make this an everyday chair to sit in. I have had it for years and it has always been used as an accent in my livingroom. Each arm rest does have a turn knob on the side(see picture) to make them go up or down. It's quite unique! The chair is still all in tack and sturdy with no breaks(besides small round decorative knob on top of scroll pediment) The wood does show age with scrapes and marks here and there which is expected for almost 150 years old. You can restore this item or leave as is, if you like that original antique look. The material on the chair is a red/burgundy with black, brown and a mustard color. The material is not in perfect condition but it's still all together.beautiful(see pictures) This chair folds up and reopens with no problem. This piece of antique furniture is stunning and I'm having a hard time parting from it. I must start letting some of my items go due to over collecting: LOL! It’s got a wonderfully detailed crest on top with flowers and leaves that goes completely across the whole top of the medallion back. The arms are really astonishing: extra thick. Carved in unbelievable detail on the back, and where it screws to the seat. It has the traditional cabriole style front leg, and a most unusual V-shaped skirt. It appears to have its original upholstery, which is in outstanding condition and worth keeping. The chair itself is fantastic. It’s an oversized chairs with no apparent breaks or joints undone at all. The overall size is 26 inches across, 22 inches deep, 45 inches to the top of the chair back, 28 inches high to the arm, and 20 inches high to the seat. Mr. Luppert has been burned out several times, and he has suffered a total loss of $150, 000, but with, wonderful energy he has rebuilt his factory after each fire, and gone forward in the face of disasters that few men could have overcome. In October, 1887, he erected the present factory, and has been sole proprietor of the Keystone Furniture Company since that date; he gives employment to seventy-five operatives, and turns out from twenty-five to thirty suites of furniture daily. Early 19th Century Large Chest of Drawers. Pine, Pre-Civil War, Dove Tailed. Perhaps the largest chest of drawers that I have ever seen. An amazing piece. This looks as if it would have fit well in a castle- but seriously is a very large and unusual piece. Circa around 1840, pre-civil war, is made of pine with a dark reddish-colored stain. Measures 58.5 inches wide, 25 inches deep and 64.5 inches tall. Has huge drawers for lots of great storage, each drawer is about 10 inches tall. Looks to be all hand carved, dove tailed, awesome pulls. Not sure if hardware is original but the hardware is some seriously nice hardware. Please see photos for description. Nice solid heavy duty civil war era mirror. Inscription on back reads this. This mirror was bought in the 1840's by grandma pierce's father- Joel Freeman. He used it for shaving until he went to the civil war where he died and was buried near Atlanta. Ga. in 1863. Renewed for mother's 91st birthday sept. 21 1942. signed Lynn. This auction is for an antique dresser top mirror or shaving mirror with drawer. It is of a beautiful dark wood- I think possibly mahogany. There is beautiful dark wood grain to this piece. I believe this probably dates to the Civil War era. It is about 21 inches tall. 23 inches across and 9 1/4 inch deep. The mirror is a replacement and there is a lovely piece of matching wood grained wood to the back of the mirror. There is one drawer. I think the sides and bottom of the drawer have been replaced at some point. It really is a gorgeous piece! Email with any questions. Two 1840 1850 Civil War Era dressers one has been in combat, musket hole in side
Lot of two dressers sold in needing repair or restoration these are originals from the pre-and mid civil war era. Glove boxes have damage and the tops have been removed, the other one has paint and missing veneer I am unsure if the top to the painted one is original or has had the veneer stripped it appears to be cherry and rosewood veneer and the other one is mahogany with different wood for the interior piece it has a musket hole in the side and was damaged in the civil war, no evidence of paperwork but the hole is identical size and shape of a musket hole. Sold as is all sales final will offer for free pick up or will arrange deliver thru a carrier of your choice if they will do the packing. sold as a lot of 2 Sold as-is where is, all sales final. note condition before bidding missing parts and some of the knobs are not original.
