Dating from the 1870s, it has burl panels all over, hand carved crest on the very top, five different style shapely mirrors, rose quartz on the drop center and two top columns, four small drawers, one large drawer on the base and a hidden drawer on the very bottom. The burl panels are all picture frame molded on the drawers and on the inside of the drop center. It has oversize candle shelves. In my over 50 years in the business, I don’t believe I have owned this model even though I have had my share of drop center dressers.

The marble top has a small chip in it at the back rim edge. I am unsure of the exact age or manufacture of the piece. It features a gorgeous burled veneer inlay on the drawer fronts, bail pull handles, and built-in division in the top drawer. The piece is lockable, and comes with the key. I am unsure of the type of wood that it is constructed from. It has dovetail joints, a panel constructed back, and fluted trim accents at the front side framework. This lovely chest measures a total height of 34 3/4 inches. Total width of 38 1/4 inches and total depth of 18 3/4 inches and weighs approximately 95 lbs. We believe the white and grey veined marble top to be original and is in fine antique condition but does show some slight usage and character marks and a bottom rim chip that is common for marble of this age. The three large storage drawers each offer raised oval decorative molding and carved pulls with period dove-tailed ends. And all the locks are intact but we do not have the key, and this chest has its casters intact on all four feet to allow for easier moving within your home. The overall height of this chest measures 66 ½" tall and overall 38 3/8" wide. The marble top measures 17 ½" deep and is 38 3/8" wide. The dresser is 17" deep and 36 ½" wide. The beveled glass on the mirror measures 29 ½" wide and 23 ½" tall. The wheels make this furniture stand 2" off of the floor. One of the knots in the wood on the backside has a whole in it. We did not notice any cracks in the wood on this chest. It has wonderfully old patina and the brass hardware is stunning on the burl finish of the dovetailed drawers. American Empire Antique Wig Chest Dresser Crotch Flame Mahogany~Marble Top 1825
Here we have a very Rare Empire Dresser for your consideration. This is a very fine Wishbone Mirrored Dresser with side wig curio cabinets. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. Country French 1895 Antique Carved Oak Marble Top Chest. Beveled Mirror. An authentic 1895 era Country French marble top dresser or chest has a shaped and beveled mirror. And would make a wonderful vessel sink vanity. Hand carving in solid quarter sawn oak shows superior craftsmanship- artistic detailing, graceful curves and raised and shaped panels. The original finish is very well preserved on this European furniture. Waxed and buffed. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain the warm honeyed patina. Embossed brass hardware is original, drawers have hand cut dovetail joints. There is a tiny chip to the marble, which has been polished and sealed to resist stains. French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Marble Top Commode Chest of Drawers Cabinet
French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Demilune Marble Topped Commode Early 20th Century Item# 130008LWP26 Simply gorgeous and perfectly preserved in every way. This fine French Louis XVI Style Commode is simply above reproach. At least a century after being crafted entirely by hand, the commode remains in nearly identical condition to when it left the shop. Clearly maintained in a home that cared for it and kept humidity at a stable level throughout it's life, the piece does not display the typical issues commonly associated with these heavily inlaid works of art. The mixed stone brèche d'Alep top is a wonderful variated surface. Full of color and activity, completed with a thin molded channel around the edge of the demilune form. The facade is a mix of five drawers and two cabinet doors; the top drawer is broad with crossbanded ... moreveneers framed in olivewood stringer inlay. It rests over a pair of drawers with a continuous inlaid image of a vase overflowing with flowers and foliage, hanging from a bow-tied ribbon draped on the keyhole escutcheon over a cross banded ground and framed in the same stepped rectangular olivewood stringer inlay that completes each drawer and door. The inlay is incredible intricate. And remarkably there is no peeling or lifting along the edges of this veneer, as typically happens when the piece is stored in an environment with poorly controlled temperature and humidity. On either side of the cabinet, small drawers swing outwards over the cabinet doors, these hand dovetailed at the back of each. The cabinet space is divided with a single shelf. The entire commode rests over turned and tapered legs that are topped and terminated in brass mounts. This is an outstanding find for any collector of French Louis XV and XVI antique furniture. Specifically if you seek out utmost quality in your furnishings. This state of preservation is difficult to find and is highly desirable by collectors and decorators alike. Antique burled birdseye walnut dresser. It has a white demilune beveled marble top and large center mirror. On either side of the mirror there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. Picture 10 shows a small piece of veneer at the top left that has come unglued and a couple of marks. There are three large graduated drawers. On the bottom of each side of the drawers there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. The four cabinet curved doors are finished on the inside. All the drawers and cabinets have locks. I have the key for the top left cabinet. The drawers have the original carved wood pulls. It stands 79" high. 48" wide, and 25" deep. The marble has no cracks. The dresser is in fine condition. An antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, light olive painted hardwood Louis XVI style chest of drawers. There are applied laurel and berry, bellflowers, rosettes, and bandings. Five of the drawers retain the original gilt metal pulls, escutcheons, and locks, the top drawer with new replaced brass knobs, missing the lock, no key. Drawer interiors of oak. The top has a polished, beveled, beautiful mottled marble slab. Chest measures 56" tall by 34" wide by 19" deep. Very good condition: original paint finish with minor flakes, no cracks or chips to case boards. Marble very fine.
