Federal Dressing Mirror 1820 Vermont Birdseye Maple Sandwich Knobs
Fantastic Federal Dressing Mirror circa 1820. Dramatic Birdseye Maple case highlighted with Mahogany highlights. Finely turned cherry posts, all set off by original clambroth knobs. I see no evidence this piece has been refinished, though a couple nicks to the veneer on the mirror have been attended to. The brass mirror swivels show hand file marks, the case is dovetailed, leather washers were used on the drawer knobs, the chamfered mirror back is original, the mirror is probably an old replacement. The secondary wood is poplar. Old label on the back possibly from a spool of thread. Measures 16" wide, 6.5" deep, and 20" to the top of the mirror post. Purchased years ago on the NY/VT border. Wonderful survivor. Please ask questions.

Antique burled birdseye walnut dresser. It has a white demilune beveled marble top and large center mirror. On either side of the mirror there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. Picture 10 shows a small piece of veneer at the top left that has come unglued and a couple of marks. There are three large graduated drawers. On the bottom of each side of the drawers there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. The four cabinet curved doors are finished on the inside. All the drawers and cabinets have locks. I have the key for the top left cabinet. The drawers have the original carved wood pulls. It stands 79" high. 48" wide, and 25" deep. The marble has no cracks. The dresser is in fine condition. c.1850 Miniature Birdseye Maple Chest of Drawers - Apprentice or Salesman Sample
Antiques An amazing example of fine mid Victorian American craftsmanship- a small. Correct to scale model of a chest of drawers in wonderful Birdseye maple veneer. Everything is to scale down to the hand turned pulls, drawer locks, bun feet, etc. The secondary wood inside the drawers is mahogany. Note that the chest is stepped- 2 drawers up and down. The two sections are held together with screws. And the back of the chest is covered with a beveled walnut panel. Note the finger jointing on the drawers. The top, middle and base edges are beautifully molded and finished, including the rounded corners. Nice mellow age patina. The back panel and the two halves of the chest can be removed with 8 screws. This exceptional piece was likely a salesman sample or an apprentice piece. But could have been made for a child. It also would serve well as ... morea jewelery chest. An Empire period tall chest or dresser from around 1840 is solid walnut with curly or birdseye maple drawer fronts. The satiny finish is in excellent condition on this American made antique furniture. Drawers have tiny hand cut dovetail joints and chamfered bottoms. Shaped columns and clean lines are understated. The hand planed back is attached with cut square nails. There are shrinkage separations from age and feet are rebuilt. Measurements are 45" wide. 21" deep and 47" tall. Long shapely legs, extremely ornate pulls, and round"pin and cove" dovetails. The mirror features a similarly curvaceous silhouette, and original beveled glass. Age: Late 1800s Measurements: 69.5" H overall. 27.5" H chest, 30.5" W, 19" D Condition: I tems are in very good antique condition being structurally sound and sturdy with signs of normal age appropriate use. Incluing a couple of minor dings to the top of the chest, small hairlines in one of the legs and the top left edge, and some wear to the silvering on the mirror, as pictured below.
