And was made by Druce& Company of London. Measures 95.1" high, 67" wide, and 14.2" deep. Inspired by the designs of Boulle under Louis XIV, this ebonized mahogany cabinet features extensive ormolu bronze mounts and brass marquetry. Lower cabinet doors open to reveal two shelves with old red velvet and the Druce and Co. nameplate. The upper cabinet features glazed and curved glass side panels and glazed doors and two adjustable shelves. Overall condition is good. There is a crack with losses to the brass in the upper left section of the lower left door, and other minor cracks to the brasses. There is a narrow vertical crack on the left side of the cabinet, and a few missing mounts, including the reed-and-tie border to the upper window on the right side, and the glass is cracked in the upper panel as well. The Urns each measure approximately 17 1/2" tall. Measuring to the top of the lid covers, not including the finial. They are Cream or Antique White in color. With the Urn on the Left(in pictures) being a bit yellower. They each feature a handpainted portrait center and are handpainted on both sides, see pictures) with surrounding accenting gold work. They also include gilded bronze or brass ornate mounts. Each Urn has been dusted and lightly cleaned-there appears to be a bit of tape residue on the back of the right Urn-so they may need some finer cleaning. The gold colored metal brass mounts. Handles and trim, show age wear with some of the gold color missing in various areas. Some of the gold gilt flower decoration is gray colored-not sure if its suppose to look that way for variation or has lost gilt over the years due to aging. The Urns may need more tightened from the bottom, as they are somewhat loose, but they are completely intact. Overall, they are both in good, age appropriate/ antique, pre-owned condition, showing well, with no chips or cracks. No identifying marks. Please see pictures for best overall description of Urns. LARGE 6" Ancient Egyptian Bronze Osiris Statue w inlaid eyes museum mount 700 BC
In spite of the fact that this very large Osiris fragment suffers from severe verdigris. In size it is quite impressive and retains much of it's original detailing! When complete the statue probably stood some eight and a half to nine inches tall. Today it measures about six and a quarter inches tall. Such a substantial size is not often seen out side of museum settings. The god stands in typical pose. That is. Mummiform as if prepared for burial. As we look at the god, we see his right hand holds a Shepard’s crook against the left shoulder. This hand& arm, cross over the left. The left hand, similarly posed, holds a decorated flail against the right shoulder. The crook symbolizes the pharaoh role of firmly guiding, yet gently caring for his people. The flail symbolizes is firm rule and authority over them. While at the same time, ... moreit symbolizing his intolerance for others who might challenge him, the Egyptian people, or the role of Egypt in the world. The god wears the Atef crown. That is. The white crown of Upper Egypt adorned with double ostrich plumes, one on either side. The feathers represent Maet, universal order and just stability. The top of the White crown(representing upper Egypt) probably had a now lost gold(plated) solar disk on the top end. On his brow, the(lower Egyptian) red spitting cobra of Pharaoh signifies his might and power. Together, all of it symbolizes the god's supreme and just rule over the two lands, and hereafter. When we examine the gods face. We notice something. The eyes. This once splendid piece still retains it's original(stone or shell) inlay-ed eyes! Those white eyes were likely once further enhanced with color to show the iris and pupils. Today that color is lost. On this chin the god wears a long ceremonial beard curled at the end(signifying the hereafter) The statue was hollow cast. And was surely originally set on a proper stand, for display in a temple. Offered here is an Art Nouveau bronze and marble paperweight of a stylized CICADA. It is signed on the wing by the artist"Blache" The marble measures 6" x 3 7/8" x 5/8" thick. The CICADA measures 4 5/8" long by 2" wide. It is in very good condition. There is a small chip in the top of the marble and the felt on the bottom is missing in parts. ANTIQUE FRENCH EMPIRE MAHOGANY BRONZE BRASS MOUNT GUERIDON MARBLE FIGURAL TABLE
We are pleased to offer this exceptionally beautiful and detailed antique(1920s) French Empire, Gueridon style table. The table features solid wood construction with mahogany veneer. The original gilt(ormolu) brass or bronze mounts are abundant. They are fashioned in acanthus or laurel leaf swags around the bottom of the table. The mounts featured on the table skirt section have faces incorporated in their centers. There are also floral medallion mounts for accent. The table top is beautiful and is green malachite marble with interesting veining and a beveled edge. The table has 4 legs. Each leg features an Egyptian character. The faces/busts are bronze or brass as are the feet. Their bodies consist completely of the marble which is a rare find in these tables. The table stretcher connects the legs and features mahogany with a marble centerpiece ... moreand bronze/brass acorn finial. This is a fabulous table with exquisite detail and design. It is in exceptional condition for its age(very early 20th century) As is common with these pieces, there is some minor chipping of the veneer around the base of the table. There is one area of wood on the stretcher that has a small crack which has been resolved at some point and there is a small bubble of the veneer on the table skirt. These issues are resolvable and do not take away or distract from this beautiful table. The marble top has a couple of scratches, again, not major and not distracting. Overall, the table is in very good condition. There are no missing bronze mounts. The table is quite sturdy. There is VERY slight movement in the legs due to the construction. Each leg is doweled into the table top and base. They do not remove. The marble top is also fixed and does not remove. I do not know if this was in the original design or if a previous owner fixed the marble to the table. This is a rare table and a treasured piece. The table measures 29" tall. The horse's defining features shine in this sculpture: a thick mane. Prominent mouth and nose, and bulging eyes. The sculpture is reminiscent of the precious image of a horse sticking its head out of the barn door waiting to be touched. This piece was crafted using the lost wax method. It is signed A. Canova. The Art of Lost Wax. Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people understand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost ... morewax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold. First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses.
