An early medieval Anglo-Saxon gilt bronze Arabesque style mount. Dating to around 550– 650 AD. An artefact of great significance. This wonderful bronze mount may be completely unique. With restless chip carved patterning, its gleaming surface reflects a blending of distant and foreign cultures. At first glance the pattern seems without true reason, yet on closer inspection we see forms emerging from the façade, a horned god at the upper centre may be a depiction of Woden, whist the lotus bud at the very top is similar to those found in Islamic carvings of the period. The overwhelming sense is that of typically Arabesque rhythmic linear patterns, scrolling and interlacing lines. Arabic influence in Anglo-Saxon art is not unheard of. King Offa is known to have briefly struck gold Arab-style dinars during the eighth century, and some Anglo-Saxon ... moremanuscripts show some influence from Islamic calligraphy and artistic styles. This is a stunning antique 19th century ornate adjustable bronze gas sconce turned into an electric fixture. the piece is very ornate with a wonderful patina from age. it adjusts at 3 points and has three very detailed arms done in high relief. the adjustments are also very detailed with Victorian floral detailing. the circular piece is the wall canopy and has three holes for mounting. the gas adjustment knob is right next to the circular canopy. the socket is also made from bronze and has an on/off switch located right on the side of it. the socket holds a bronze shade mount which holds a beautiful thick deep blue glass shade. it is all wired and works great. measures 13 inches at its shortest adjustment and 32 inches long when fully opened. it is in nice antique shape with a wonderful patina from age. Ornate Pierce Work Victorian Bronze Wall Mount Sconce Candle Holder w/ Swing Arm
Appears to be Bronze in material and color-I see no chip marks from surface to indicate otherwise and heavy for size. I am thinking it is Victorian. Pierced or open in so many areas throughout design! Just fabulous! This item purchased at estate sale and I received no screws with it. So you will need to buy ones to use to hang. It does swing with a bit of force from right to left on the arm(to about a 75 degree angel from base on either side max) It is in good used condition and really nice looking. I do see a circle or O or Q on it under arm on back but everything else is too muddled or just part of the piece and so I cannot say if this is a marked piece or not for sure nor identify the maker. Approx. 9" long from base plate that connects to wall by about 5" tall from bottom of wall base plate to top of fixture candle holder top ... morerim by about 1" diameter on candle holder opening for candle to be inserted.

It is a 19thC(I think) EMPIRE STYLE INKWELL with a very attractive GILT BRONZE ORMOLU MOUNT around the main body. The crystal body is flawless& it is quite heavy for its size. Unfortunately as you can see from the photos the lid has broken in 2 with some chips to the top surface too. Little can be done to improve this other than replace the whole top. The lid gapes a little but it should be possible to adjust this slightly. The French Empire style had 3 incarnations with around 1900 being the last. SLANTED BRASS BRONZE FLAG POLE BASE MOUNT BOAT SHIP SAIL
This is a bronze flag pole base we found in a recycle yard. Looks like it was chromed at one time. It is slanted. The flange measures 2+5/8 inches wide. The mount takes a 1+1/4 inch wide pole and the base measures 2 inches deep. It would be great for re use or a missing part in a restoration boat project. We accept Paypal. Buyer pays actual shipping!
