This fine desk measures 45 1/2 inches in height to the top of the gallery at the back.Height to the top at the front measures 46 inches, with a total width of 48 inches, total depth of 26 inches and this desk weighs approximately 200 lbs. The pull out writing surface measures 41 inches wide by 21 inches deep and height from the floor to the top of the writing surface measures 30 inches. The knee hole height of the desk portion measures 25 1/4 inches and knee-hole width measures 18 3/4 inches. The cylinder portion of this desk raises and lowers very smoothly and has a large brass lock mechanism on the bottom which is marked: Indianapolis Cab. Co Pat. The lock is intact but we do not have the key. The inner desk portion is beautiful maple with a multitude of various sizes of storage drawers and cubbies.The old green felt on the pull out writing surface appears original and does show some wear and some spots. The left offers a stack of four storage drawers with period dove-tailed ends and the original pulls. To the right another drawer is found with a storage cabinet below. The lock is missing from the cabinet door. As you can see in the pictures this desk could easily be in the center of a room for it is as lovely on the back as the front and is finished beautifully all the way around. It was ... moremade circa 1850 to 1860. It features a walnut wooden carved backrest adorned with gothic finials. The needlepoint seat is original with the seat itself featuring springs and padding for comfort. As stated this is a petite chair with the top of the seat measuring 14 inches from the floor. The chair measures 21 inches long by 20 1/2 inches wide and is 38 1/2 inches tall. The wood on this chair is solid walnut and is well preserved and cared for. There are minor portions of surface cracking on what appears to have been some sort of a varnish applied to the front legs. This doesn't affect the wood or quality of the chair. As this chair is in the age range of 150 years old plus. These minor imperfections add to the authenticity of evidence of its true age. Additionally, there are a few tacks missing(about 4) from the seat area which can be viewed in the photos. Shipping: I will package this for shipment and ship via UPS. Though I would not trust sitting on it due to age and not sure weave is complete. Some damaged pieces as shown. Wood frame seems to be quite sturdy. Entire piece is old and not perfect. But seems overall sturdy and displays very very well. though I still don't think I would trust fully sitting on it until reinforced weave) It might be fine though. From the floor to the back.
