I believe that it is from England as I purchased it with a load of antiques from England and Belgium. It appears to be quite old but I don't know the exact age. It is sturdy and can be used with no problems. Due to it's age it looks like it has been repaired. It has had steel reinforcements added underneath the piece and you can see the brackets in the pictures. It also has some spots where the wood is chipped off. 3 of the 4 small wood scrolls on the inside corners have been broken off. That is not very noticeable but I wanted to point it out. If you are looking for a perfect footstool you may not want this one. It shows it's age and has a great vintage look. It is not perfect but looks great to me. I've tried to take a number of pictures so that you can judge for yourself it's quality and value. Please feel free to email me any questions you may have about this item.
