The back is stamped"Walnut, Rosewood and Pecan" which may apply to the whole set, not necessarily the headboard. I don't know if the inserts are Rosewood or Pecan. The drawer pulls on the dresser are accented with a different wood but I've never known which was which. I recently purchased the same headboard in king size for the twin beds together and it has worn areas and has been touched up and smells like crayons. Well. I am stuck but this beautiful headboard needs a good home. I have only used"Old English" on it and it is in fantastic shape.
