A VERY FINE ANTIQUE. CIRCA 1870’s, CENTENNIAL WALNUT PETITE HIGHBOY CHEST OF DRAWERS. IT IS IN TWO SEPARATE SECTIONS: THE CABRIOLE LEG LOWBOY, AND THE CHEST ABOVE. THE FOUR LEGS ARE NICELY CARVED WITH WEBBED CLAW FEET OVER BALL, CARVED ACANTHUS LEAF ON THE KNEES, THE SKIRT SERPENTINE EDGED. THERE IS ONE LONG DRAWER OVER THREE DRAWERS, THE CENTER DRAWER WITH BRASS KNOB, OTHER DRAWERS WITH QUEEN ANNE BRASS BAIL PULLS. THE TOP HAS A MOLDING EDGE TO HOLD THE CHEST. IT HAS EIGHT GRADUATED DRAWERS WITH LIKE PULLS, THE TOP WITH TWO BOARDS FRAMED WITH MOLDING, THE SIDES EACH A SINGLE BOARD. SECONDARY WOODS ARE MAPLE. THE CHEST RETAINS FOUR LOCKS AND ESCUCHEONS WITH KEY, THE LOWBOY IS MISSING THE LOCK TO TOP DRAWER. THE HIGHBOY MEASURES 54-1/2” TALL, BY 27” WIDE AND 15” DEEP AT LEGS. This antique dresser has been well maintained and has a newer(10- 20 yo) Cherry finish and what appears to be newer wood pieces on the rear portions of the drawers. Newer glass knobs have been added.
