Gothic influence with the Arch top. A row of ribbon molding across the bottom. Fond in NY and probably made by Meeks. This is a period piece from the 1830s or 40s. This beautiful. Empire style, three over three drawer dresser is perfect for a victorian period decor. Made from quarter sawn oak with a wonderful aged patina. Has a few minor nicks and scrapes. Top is in good condition with only some small areas of deterioration in the original laquer finish. Drawers are slightly misaligned from use. Offering a spectacular solid Tiger Maple Dresser/Chest in Empire style. I had previously wrongly described it as Tiger Oak and was roundly criticized and corrected) To further clarify after having an expert examine this item. The chest is solid Tiger Maple, however the drawers are Tiger Maple veneer. The drawer tops are finished off with a stronger wood strip which might be mahogany to absorb the extra stress when the drawers are opened and closed. Dates to late 1800's, excellent condition, but seeing is believing. This will have to be local pickup in Hagerstown Maryland. The pictures pretty much tell the story, but please ask any questions. Very hard to describe and categorize but we have attempted. A very beautiful chest of drawers with a six paned window top plus mirror and is a true antique! Chest of Drawers Bottom: Burled Cherry Veneer Drawer Fronts Handcut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms and interior woods. Step back center section. 3 burled cherry veneer drawer fronts with hand cut dovetailed drawers with chamfered panel poplar bottoms. 4 Cherry turned legs at the base– replaced. Half turn columns on the front. Cherry Knobs– replaced. Some minor restoration to the veneer front. All Cherry Sides. Case 41 inches wide. Top 43 inches wide and 21 ½ inches deep and 46 inches tall. Top: 2 Mortise and ... moretenon doors. 6 individual paned windows with original glass, cherry sides, center swivel mirror(older replaced mirror) with cherry crown moulding with burled cherry venner over it on the top. Mortise and tenon jointed through the top and does not come off. 8 inches deep case width. 36 inches, crown moulding with 41 inches wide by 10 ½ deep and height is 32 inches. Very Nice Antique Empire Style Dresser with hand carved columns, flame mahogany
Hi. And thanks for looking! This listing is for a real antique empire style dresser. This is a good sized piece, 47 inches high, 42.5 wide, and 23 deep. There is three drawers on the bottom and two up top, all with hand cut dovetails. I think the bottoms of the drawers as well as other parts are all one piece of wood with no seams. The front has beautiful flame mahogany veneer which is in fairly good shape except on the top drawers, which have slight curve. Along each side of the front are greek colums with hand carved details top and bottom. The top of the dresser is two boards that have been painted to look like wood grain. There is a gap in between them, due to age I suppose. All the drawer pulls are clear glass, I don't think they are original, but they are old, and some don't match exactly. Large Empire Style Antique Chest of Drawers Cut Glass Knobs c1870 Solid Cherry
This beautiful Empire style chest of drawers came to me from the estate of a collector. We believe it to be constructed of solid cherry and is dates to the 1870s. It features one deep drawer on the top and three standard drawers below. The front of this piece is carved with turned pieces on either side. The cut glass knobs are original and in very nice shape(no major cracks or other issues) We will remove these knobs and wrap them separately prior to shipping. Excellent condition with only some very minor condition issues(light surface scratches and a minor split to one of the drawer fronts) All drawers are dovetail construction– the bottom drawer is a bit sticky– we will take care of that prior to shipping. Antique Empire Style Buffet Dresser Storage
This was the piece that I had the most fun with. I used 16- SIXTEEN- different Annie Sloan chalk paint colors to get this effect. Plus Crackle Tex. Clear and dark wax. So. The story behind this piece is. Well, firstly it's massive. It is the great beast of all furniture. 60"x 26 1/2" x 42" and solid. It looks like wood, but I think it's really granite. It is that heavy. Two pull out drawers on top with ceramic Anthropologie knobs, one massive pull out drawer underneath, and two doors opening to full storage. I bought this from a really cool woman in Portland. You know the kind- just naturally hip. With the groove going on. She had been given it by a friend(I bet who was even cooler! when the friend moved to an Ashram in Portland. Apparently, each of the rooms had a buffet like this! Gawd, that would make me want to ... moredo yoga! It's kinda ironic because the buffet. As big as it is, was the natural dark wood stain. You would think that they would want light, bright colors(perhaps this is why they gave it away) All I can think of is that somewhere in deepest darkest North Portland there is an Ashram filled with antique buffets. That just makes me want to do a Down Dog Split with Open Hips, just thinking about it. I have this listed on my facebook page(ThePaintFactory) as a buffet. But one of my friends posted that she could see this as a changing table in a nursery. I think this is a STATEMENT piece, with endless possibilities. Could still work with traditional antiques, could totally work in a contemporary space, neutral and fun enough for storage in a kids room. Your imagination is your only limitation. Scattered checks with three to the top. The top drawer of the lower set rests slightly off kilter as the wooden bar has come loose from its position on the track.
