All four legs are made of solid brass. Seats three adults comfortably. The only issue with the sofa, and it's minor, is a slight sag on the main cushion. Mid Century Modern designer sofa and lounge chair by Jens Risom. The sofa has issues of wear. Fading along a strip at the top of the back of the sofa(see pic 5) There is soiling underneath the cushions on the material near the label(see pic 3) There are marks and claw marks along the cushions(see pics 4.6& 7 for examples) The lounge chair does not have the label. Sofa measures: 90" long x 28" tall x 31" deep. When new cushions were put into the original fabric, the upholsterer did not tighten up the sofa. For your consideration is this George Nelson design sofa for Herman Miller. It is their Steel Frame line and this one features a 3 cushion design with an attached end table. It measures just shy of 8' long overall and 28" tall at the back. It is 26" deep overall with a seat height of about 16" The attached white laminate table measures 24x24" While I have no doubt the sofa is as described. It would appear that this one is unsigned. It does show an identifying mark from Northern Illinois University. It is a strikingly modern design that is long and low, very much in keeping with the mid-century aesthetic. It remains in very nice as found condition with only a smudge or two on the back and a small area of minor wear to the back of one corner. Nothing that detracts. Sleek and sophisticated armless sofa designed by Harvey Probber. This sofa is upholstered in top quality glove-soft black leather with a slim brass frame and legs. Red piping and button tufting complete the classic look. It has 3 loose down-filled back cushions for added comfort and the tufted seat cushion is reversible. Extremely sturdy and well made. Exceptional quality. This came from the office of Mitch Leigh, best known as the composer of the music for Man of La Mancha, and it still retains his customer name along with the Harvey Probber label. DIMENSIONS 79" long by 26 1/2" high by 32 1/2" deep. The seat height is 16" CONDITION Excellent vintage condition. Very clean with light normal wear. The leather upholstery is in excellent condition with no rips or tears. The leather is very soft and supple with a few very ... moresmall scuffs, including one on the back which is not visible when the cushions are in place. One of the tufting buttons towards the back of seat the cushion is missing. It isn't visible with the back cushions in place, or the cushion can be reversed and placed with that side down. There are very tiny holes along the edge on one side of the seat cushion, they look original to the piece and may be there for ventilation. When placed with that side towards the back, it's not seen. The brass is in very good vintage condition with some light tarnish and some scuffs. The majority of this should go away with a polish. We started to polish a section on the right front leg and thought that it might be too bright, so will leave this up to the new owner to decide. The front legs have the original adjustable foot levelers, the levelers on the back are replacements. see pictures) None of this detracts from the overall appearance which is fantastic! This is beautiful. About 5x5 2 parts. The story I was told is that this was custom made in Asia in the 60's for an affluent ship captain. I can't confirm any of that but no one I have ever showed it to has ever seen anything like it and it has no markings. Very well built and in excellent condition. It has teak trims. There is a storage compartment that comes out like a trundle. The cushions on the back hook on yo the back board in a very unique way. Update to comments in RED.I've since disassembled this end of the sofa and found at some point someone glued these pieces together causing the separation(I think it was dong long ago as the glue was old and dried out)I(carefully) disassembled this end and removed the old glue. Then reassembled it. So now the gaps are much tighter and it looks better. I did notice that some glue had gotten on to the finish and so add that to the list of scratches, etc. that you may want to remove.I didn't attempt it. Domino Mobler sofa. Oatmeal color with a nubby texture, and since it's wool, yes, it's a bit scratchy.so if you're sensitive to that please don't buy a wool sofa! Appears to be a nice, heavy fabric that will wear well. There are a few"pulls" in the fabric but they are minor and hard to see within it's texture. The area around the screws that attach the cushions to the frame are a bit worn and dirty. I do not know if this sofa has been in a smoking enviornment, it doesn't smell like smoke. I do have cats but they have not been on the sofa ever, I do not know if the sofa previously ever had pets on or around it. The wood frame(teak) is in good-very good condition. The finish is in good shape with no discernible fading. There are scratches, most of them pictured, in the following locations: base of the legs has the worst scuffs/scratches/marks(i.e. old paint bits) including some that are quite long. Some of this may be surface and removable, I've made no attempt to clean or refinish the wood. There is a small nick/scratch on top of one arm, pictured. Kroehler Sofa Couch Davenport. Mid Century Modern Retro Nubby Fabric - Tan
Mid century modern Kroehler sofa in very good vintage condition. Fabulous fifties nubby texture fabric has no tears or odors. A few small areas of light staining are depicted in the photos. I will leave it up to the new owner to decide whether or not to spot treat. I would imagine that this piece would clean up beautifully with a good steam cleaning. The fabric on the front left arm has been tacked up with 6 very small staples(see photos) I'm not sure why as the fabric doesn't appear to sag in any way. Perhaps there was once a piece of cardboard or cloth attached to deter a pet's attention. One cushion show small areas of wear and fabric fraying(pictured) but fabric in intact(no tears) Cushion can be easily turned to hide the small defect.
