The overall size is 68 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 48 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 28 inches deep, 38 inches high to the crest, 23 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. First of all they are 17 ¾ inches by 15 ¾ inches(outside) 9 ¾ inches by 7 ¾ inches(image area) They are in very nice condition, but not perfect. They do have some rubs, minor nicks, and some discoloration in the gold areas. These were purchased at an estate sale. They do each have glass in them, with a wood backing, ready for you to add your favorite photo or painting. The outside frame itself is 4 inches in width and 3 ¾ inches thick. It is actually 3 frames together, the inner frame being the gold gilt. You have a nice 1 ½ inch black carved portion, setting off the two gold frames. Antique 19th C Walnut Frames w/ Original Signed Portrait Watercolor Paintings
We are listing today for your consideration a lovely pair of Antique 19th Century Deepset Walnut Wood and Gilt Frames with Original Signed Watercolor Painting Portraits of Man& Woman. We are assuming Husband& Wife. The frames and paintings are in Excellent Shape with minimal wear to the walnut frames. The frames measure 15" x 12 3/4" x 2 5/8" The have gold gilding as well as the original gilt edged mat and the paintings are below glass. The portraits are signed each D.J. Artist on the front in watercolor and on the back David Jones 71& David Jones 72 in pencil. We don't know anything about the artist, we did a search and came up with nothing. The painting of the man has a stamp on the paper in black Hovey's Rives. We could not find anything on that as well. Each portrait is on cut out paper which is pasted ... moreon heavier paper. CHOICE OF BEAUTIFUL DEEP WALNUT VICTORIAN EASTLAKE PICTURE FRAMES w/ INSET OVAL
This listing is for your choice of one fine 19th century deep walnut picture frame- both of which hold vintage needlepoint(one petit point) And both of which are outstanding! As you'll see in the photos. They are similar in design and surprisingly similar in size. The walnut and Eastlake ebonized pattern of each frame remains in excellent original condition with just a couple spots of wear. I won't bore you by describing the detail that you can quickly see in the photo. But to make your choice easier, I'll deal with their specifics individually. 1) Smaller" frame with burgundy floral needlepoint. Measures just about 13 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches(widest outside measurement) and the oval opening is 9 x 7 inches. Although this frame appears significantly smaller in the photos. Near perfect condition with some looseness in the joints that has occurred in its last 10 years hanging on my diningroom wall. Retains original glass& beveled-edge backing board. However, the needlepoint was so pretty that I left it intact so have never removed its backing. 2) Larger" frame with needlepoint bird or distlefink. Measures just about 14 x 12 inches(outside measurement) and the oval opening is 7 3/4 inches by 9 1/2 inches. Excellent condition. Totally tight at the joints, but the original gold leaf oval has been gone over at some time- perhaps to brighten it. This top coating does rub off(I did it partially) with a soft cloth and window cleaner. NO E-CHECKS PLEASE. Both are in very nice condition with a couple scuffs. I am not sure what type of wood these are. 1 friend thinks walnut and another thinks mahogany. The frame on the left is 17 1/2" X 15 1/2" with an opening 14 1/2" X 12 1/4" and the frame on the right is 14 1/4" X 12 1/4" with a 10 3/4" X 8 3/4" opening. Both are just about 2 1/4" deep. The inside of the frames may hold an oval picture approximately 9" tall and 7" wide. Both frames contain a gold color gesso on the inside rim. I have 5 very old walnut frames I am selling together. They are gorgeous deep wooden frames. Most all dateing back to the 1800's. Two of these frames have original glass. One of which is the real fancy frame. This frame measures 14 by 16 inches, with the oval framing area being 5 by 7. The oval area is surrounded by an old sand and glitter paint. Then there is an unusual heavily carved border. This old frame has a complete backing and is about 2 1/2 inches deep. The other frame with glass has multi levels of depth and measures 12 1/2 by 14 inches with the framing area being 7 1/2 by 9 1/2. Pair Floral Needlepoints in Antique Deep Walnut Frames
This is a pair of hand-stitched needlepoint floral compositions. Each framed in a matching deep walnut frame. The outer measurements of the frames are 12 inches wide, 14 inches long, and 2 1/2 inches deep. The needlepoints have been stretched over wood and when framed extend the depth by 1/2 inch more. There is glass above the textile, so there is a bit of glare in the photos. The frames have a gilt lining and layers of black painted wood that contrast nicely with the walnut. There is one small fissure in one corner of a frame, shown in the photo. The conition of the frames is very good, with minimal signs of age, and the textiles are in excellent condition. We did not find a signature, but did not remove the needlepoints from the frames. Some had prints in them– a few had mirrors. These are the only two ovals I found, each from around 1865-1875. CONDITION = EXCELLENT The frame with the old print measures 14 ¾” by 12 ¾” overall. The oval image size is 9 ¾” by 7 ¾” But the rabbet is cut to hold an image 8” by 10” It is deep at 1 ¾” and it’s quite elegantly constructed. Note the dovetails on both frames. The print is nice also. But it is not as old as the frame. Both have wood backs. The one with no print has a mirror. But I took it out for photographing ... morethe two frames. From my non-smoking home. Beautiful Civil War era or later Deep Walnut Frames with unusual deep. Thick(and unpatterned) gilded liner. Lovely old patina and in solid shape. This walnut frame pair is not your typical deep walnut frame. And instead of straight molding, is more swirl carved and is embellished with tiny carved out flowers. The frame with the rose and pansies has old glass with a few small bubbles. I think the fuchsias and violets has one bubble in the glass. But it is tiny. The wool needlepoint panels are both in good condition with no apparent fading/staining(it's the glare on the glass.it's impossible to photograph without reflections) or moth damage. This listing is for a matched pair of Victorian era oval wood frames. These are in great condition with wonderful finish. The gold liner may be brass or metal. These have the old wavy glass and appear to be constructed with square nails. The frames are 14" by 12" and 1 1/2" deep. The opening in the back is 8" by 10" In addition to the great frames these have antique magazine advertisements in them. The prints( appear to be from Le Bon Ton which was a high fashion magazine similar to Vogue today. It advertised the latest in fashion. I had a person who speaks french try to read the writing. He said it gave the address of Mr. Leontine. 64 Rivoli Street, Paris. He said this was likely the designer or tailor for the dresses. One of the prints has a stain on the writing and there are a couple of dark spots like from age ... moreon the pictures. Each measures 40cm/15 3/4" from top to bottom by 33cm/13" from side to side approx. The condition of the pair is very good with just a little fading and discoloratio n to the needlework but his does not detract from the look or di splay of the pair. The frames are also in very good condi tion with some surface scratches as you would expect from Georgian pieces. Th e backs have been recovered in recent years. Offered for sale is this hard to find pair of antique Oval Walnut Frames in very good overall condition. The glass in both is older. But I believe has been changed, probably within the last 50 years. The frames are very tastefully grain painted as I had to look twice to see it! These are not a matched pair, as there are small differences in the wood carvings designs, but they look very good together. I purchased them at an estate auction held in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. There are a few small dings and light scratches, but overall they are much better than one would expect from late 19th Century frames. The deep dark color and patina gives these a great"antique" look!
