The library and its furnishings were built and created in 1959-1960. The interior also featured Florence Knoll chairs and tables. This Mid Century. Architecturally inspired sofa is extremely unusual in that it has a"pull-out" feature that creates a deeper seating area or daybed for one. Seldom seen. We spoke with the librarian at the location, who had been there for 30+ years, and were told that the chairs and sofa had been recovered in the late 1970's. It measures 76" long, 28" high, seat is 30" deep and 36" when extended. The pull out feature works smoothly. The seat cushion is not attached. It has a square tubular brushed chrome and steel frame and legs and light blue tweed fabric. There is a frayed area on the front bottom right corner of the bottom platform and there is some minor discoloration but it has not been steamed cleaned. There are no tags on it but we've sold other Thayer Coggin sofas and this one definitely has the look of one. It has very cool psychedelic fabric that I think actually looks better in person than in the photos we have posted. The colors really pop. Each of the arms is raised up on(5) square chrome cubes that still have a lot of shine to them. The(4) legs are wood wrapped with chrome. It is a generous 10' 6" long and ... morehas walnut veneered tables built in each end and solid walnut trim. The sofa sits on nine tapered walnut legs with brass casters. All of the casters roll smoothly making it easy to move the sofa around the room. The back of the sofa is fully upholstered as well. It is in very good vintage original condition and can be used as is. Or reupholstered to suit. The original upholstery is in very good condition with some light wear, but no tears, rips or stains, and no noticeable odors, the bright spots in some of the pics is sunlight) There is a loose seam on the right front corner of the cushion as shown, but it's not bad and would be an easy repair if it bothered you. The foam is in great shape with no sagging or hardness. The foundation is excellent, and the frame is sturdy and tight. The walnut veneer and solid walnut trim are in very good condition with some signs of wear to be expected with age and use. There are two small veneer patches on the vertical portion of the left table as shown in the close-up. There is also a faint dark ring on the left table top. The walnut trim along the bottom has a few dings and scratches, but nothing noticeable. All of the flaws are shown in the close-ups. Overall it looks fantastic and could be used as is, as we did) but it's 40+ years old and not perfect. I would be happy to send additional pictures, just let me know. Measures 126" long, approx. 49" deep from the back to the farthest point on the front, seat depth is 23" not including the back cushions. Description: Offered here is an awesome mid century modern two piece sectional sofa. Angular style in the manner of Paul Laszlo. Designer and manufacturer are unknown. Dates to the early 1950s. Features three button tufted backs and loose cushion seats. The original upholstery is brown with abstract lines running through it. The legs are blonde tapered wood that are set back from the edges to make the sections appear to be floating. A popular mid century design due to the smaller atomic ranches of the 50s to give the illusion of more space. The arms are cushioned and are set at an angle. The bottom edge of the ends taper up to mimic the same lines of the arms. Comes with matching arm covers. Looks great together or with a corner table sitting at an angle. This listing is for a mid-century. Vintage couch or sofa. Brand is A. Brandt Ranch Oak. It is so sturdy and well-made! It has the original fabric covering, which a blue/cream/ombre stripe style, please view photos. The photo of the back of the couch shows some yellow, but that is just the camera. The fabric looks itchy, but it is not. The cushions could use a good steam cleaning, to brighten, as the back of the couch looks brighter than the cushions. This well-made couch is so comfortable. It is sturdy, but easily moved, even on carpeting, as it has 4 rollers underneath. The sides of the couch are interesting with lattice-style design sides. Parts of the black covering on the bottom of the couch has ripped away from the staples, but we reattached some of it, but could use a few more staples to hold the black fabric more securely. Vintage Scandinavian sofa. Attributed to Folke Ohlsson for Dux. Heavy cotton upholstery in soft tones of white, grey, lavender and cream. Curved back and exposed wooden frame make this sofa a perfect example of mid century Danish design. In very good vintage condition. With light wear due to age. Some scuffing to the wooden feet, as pictured. Fabric has some small snags and three or four droplet-sized stains, but none noticeable. A typical example is pictured. Cushions are upholstered on both sides, with neither side showing uneven wear. The rear cushion springs on the right side have softened in comparison to the left, but it is not noticeable visually. Up for sale is one Danish Black Leather Sofa and Lounge Chair. I purchased these at an estate sale here in Santa Fe from a woman who had lived many years in Finland and returned to Santa Fe with all of her European furniture. The credenza behind the sofa was from the same estate.NFS) These pieces are very well constructed and appear hand crafted with an excellent grade of premium dyed leather. I am not sure of the age of these unique pieces and there is no maker’s mark to be found. The leather is supple with no apparent wear. Scuffs or cracks of any kind. The 8 cushions are separate and are full leather on front and back with zipper. I did have the cushion foam replaced this past year. Both the chair and sofa have a full leather back side. This is a show-stopper! You'll never see another Divan like this. I've enjoyed it in my downtown condo. Time for a new project! Now it's your turn to enjoy it! This Sofa/ Divan/ Couch/ Davenport was purchased from an Estate in Beverly Hills. This item resided in a Pool House on that Estate. It is a Mid-Century Modern BOOMERANG. BROKEN-BACK COUCH. This means. It is meant as a conversation center. And can free-float in a room, so that one can sit from either side of the couch in the middle. It would be fun to reupholster dramatically in white. Red, or black leather. The only couch I've found similar to this is made in Italy and was $11K a few years ago. The couch is approximately 8.5 feet long and 3 feet deep(more dimensions to follow) The material is an ivory/off-white naugahyde with an embossed leaf pattern. I've learned ... morethat the original fabric beneath was a Blue/Green. There are six(6) tapered/peg legs of medium-color wood. My upholsterer says the grain is indicative of Maple. more pix to follow) The couch is steel-sprung. And has horsehair(as was common back then) The frame is Hard Alder Wood. And is two(2) inches thick around, rather than the normal 1"3/4" thick wood. It's heavy and made to last! I have recently reupholstered the webbing and underfabric. The original under-couch treatment has a multitude of small. Hand-applied brass tacks, which I have left underneath the new fabric treatment. My upholster also noticed hand-stitching, and he says that both methods are hard to find and fell out of favor in the 60s. This Divan's age is late 40s to 50s. This couch is in good vintage condition. Vintage 1960's Jens Risom aluminum gro up armless sofa. This rarely seen aluminum framed sofa is absolutely stunning. This piece was reupholstered in Knoll Velvet(Mohair) and shimmers above the thin lined. Brushed aluminum base. Simple. Stylish design cues include the aluminum back bar, and nine buttons across the seat's back. This sofa is the most comfortable armless sofa you'll ever sit on.
