The fine stitched upholstery is absolutely gorgeous, featuring complex floral bouquets in the center on a cream ground bordered by sprawled floral designs interwoven with foliage over a mellow teal ground. The backs may possibly be retained, depending on your personal taste, as these are in better condition than the seats. The exposed frames of ... morethe ovular backs on each piece are carefully carved with the typical twisted-rope molding that culminates at the top in a flattened bouquet of flowers. The arms are upholstered. These curving in the common acanthus hand holds over molded arm supports that join the seat frame in blades of acanthus leaves. Each corner of the chair has a sharp squared inset floral carving inside of which the wooden pins for the tenon-mortise frame joints are cleverly hidden as petals of the flowers. This is a very fine set for collectors that require some good age in the french antiques they select- crafted with the same techniques and precision of the original pieces of the late 18th Century. There is only one metal screw showing- at the underside of the armless chair. All other connections have plugs. They are 40" tall, 22" wide, seats are 17" deep, the backs are 14" wide and the settee is 41" wide. As you can see there is extensive carving of acanthus leaves and clamshell designs with openwork throughout. Display here is a French Louis XV Style Set. Comprising of a Settee and pair of bergeres, dated: early 20 th Century. Pierce cartouche crest continuing with rounded profiles and so proportion in size and scale of the chair. With a loose cushion in its wide comfy seat and low back that merges fluidly into the arms. Original painted polychrome light olive with gilt highlighting the carved details. Held by cabriole legs with scroll leaf feet. Great looking pieces that you can place anywhere in your home. Offered is a three piece Victorian Parlor Set including a cameo back settee/ sofa and two matching side chairs circa 1860. The pieces have carved walnut details. This is a truly beautiful set. Sturdy and in very good antique condition. The two side chairs have some small repairs to the wood(see photos) but they look to be professionally repaired and not noticeable unless you look closely. There is also a small crack in the wood on the settee but again it not very noticeable(see photo) The pieces appear to have been reupholstered and the upholstery and braid trim are in excellent condition.
