50s Atomic Mid Century Modern Sofa Couch Sectional Paul Laszlo Style Eames Era
Description: Offered here is an awesome mid century modern two piece sectional sofa. Angular style in the manner of Paul Laszlo. Designer and manufacturer are unknown. Dates to the early 1950s. Features three button tufted backs and loose cushion seats. The original upholstery is brown with abstract lines running through it. The legs are blonde tapered wood that are set back from the edges to make the sections appear to be floating. A popular mid century design due to the smaller atomic ranches of the 50s to give the illusion of more space. The arms are cushioned and are set at an angle. The bottom edge of the ends taper up to mimic the same lines of the arms. Comes with matching arm covers. Looks great together or with a corner table sitting at an angle. Goes great with a 50s or 60s mid century modern atomic ranch home. C ondition: Condition ... moreis good vintage. All of our items are vintage and any major issues will be pointed out. Minor age appropriate wear. Original upholstery is in pretty good shape. Some darkening in areas on the backs. One small cigarette burn to the arm side of the right section. Original upholstery is pretty cool if your are a purist or reupholster in your choice of fabric. Cushions are still soft but beginning to deteriorate. No major cracks or breaks. Legs are very sturdy. Wood slat back with the original upholstered zippered seat and back cushions(red) CONDITION: Great vintage condition with typical wear due to age and use. The wood is in excellent condition– minor dings and marks due to age and use. The upholstery is faded and worn. The foam in the seat cushions is a bit more broken down/compressed than the foam in the back cushions. The couch strapping is sturdy the way it is now as someone has added extra strapping and an inner frame along the bottom frame of the couch– in order to attach the extra strapping from side to side(to support the original front to back strapping that had lost elasticity) Only visible with cushions off of the couch. Abstract floral pattern material is in excellent vintage/used condition. With no rips, no tears and no worn areas. The fabric has a velvet hand and shows only very slight fading. The Style and Quality of this sofa consistent with Dunbar. Fresh from a high end estate. You will find the construction of this sofa Expertly Constructed. Extremely Sturdy and Heavy(unmatched in today's market) This Sofa is not a redo however does show some signs of wear consistent with age of this item. I was told a family member that the sofa was reupholstered in the early 1970's to its current white vinyl upholstery. At that time their interior design theme went to black and white. Sofa features. One seat cushion and 4 back cushions. Special feature is sofa has a long hinge that spans the back of the sofa. Upon close inspection this hinged back allows the back rest to be reclined ... moreto a 45 degree angle for extra comfort(see photos) Perhaps this intentional feature is to allow more room for use as a day bed. Condition Mention’s: Sofa shows extremely well with only minor wear to the white vinyl upholstery. The underside of the seat cushion is photographed with a few marks. And a few tiny back edge scratches to upholstery(see up close photos) Webbing still fine for continued use. The Solid Hardwood Walnut wood detail only shows some minor wear to the legs that can easily be touched up with light sanding and furniture scratch cover polish. Vintage Mid Century Modern Eames Era Adrian Pearsall Sofa Couch FULLY RESTORED
This auction is for a beautiful Danish Modern Adrian Pearsall Mid Century Modern Eames Era couch I have had FULLY RESTORED– designer fabric. New heavy industrial foam and body padding, new webbing, new decking, new foam cushions, two new pillar foam end pillar bolt cushion pillows, new chrome cushion clips and I had the strings re-tightened. It is a breathtaking piece of furniture. The original under frame is still in place. I purchased it several months ago, had it fully restored, received it last month and now found out I am being transferred. The furnishings I am taking with me have to be limited and this is one of the pieces I have to sadly let go. It is gorgeous. There are no labels on it. It is IMMACULATE and has been freshly reupholstered with the most gorgeous celery green woven fabric with a designer‘circle and dot’ accent fabric ... morethat is second to none spectacular. I call it my“ Marlo Thomas/That Girl” look! Words cannot describe the colors of the accent fabric. The velvety‘circles’ are a jeweled turquoise color with a matching green celery“dot” inside(that matches the overall celery green woven fabric to a“T” the woven background inside the circle is a bit darker beige color than the lighter beige woven background. This fabric is carried over into the two pillar bolt cushions. The company that restored this couch is renowned in the area and did an EXPERT job. I am EXTREMELY picky and they truly surpassed even my expectations! It is a truly daring design. I wanted something‘light’ yet‘bold’ and I feel my goal was accomplished. Both fabrics are new and are currently available should you want to match other pieces of furniture in your home. This lovely couch measures approximately 93.5” across by 35.0” deep by 29.5” high(at the midpoint of the back rest’s highest part) At its widest points. Nice low floating profile and super comfortable! Retains original Dux manufacturer label. I have only seen 3 others Dux models like this online. All 3 said they where designed by Bruno Mathsson, and all three sold in the $7k to 12K range! I have only seen one other with the exact same fabric. But it was on a rare knoll sofa. DIMENSIONS: 92.5" wide x 34" deep. And 24.5" high. CONDITION: Very good condition for age. There where a few repairs to the fabric. One patch on right front armrest. And a seam re-sewn on top side middle of right arm. See detailed pictures. The patch was salvaged from under the cushion from sofa. Very inconspicuous. We have an outstanding pair of vintage loveseats and lounge chair set from the 1950s. Eames era, in burnt organ fabric and walnut. The set reflects the Danish Modern style of the period with its distinctive sculptural form. The furniture frames are made of solid walnut, durable, sturdy and in excellent condition. There is some minor surface wear on the right hand armrest of one of the loveseats. One minor tear on the plaid side of one cushion and some minor thread wear on the cord of the plaid side of another cushion. All other cushions are in wonderful condition. It is rare to find these cushions intact. As noted in the photos, the cushions are reversible. The original coated wire springs are in excellent condition with minor areas where rubber coating is missing. Additional photos can be provided upon request. Up for Auction is a Fabulous Mid Century Modern Two Piece Sectional Sofa. This was purchased in the 1960's and has not been used for the past 30 yrs. All Original Orange Vinyl Material. These were often used as daybeds the back slips right off. Each couch is 72"long by 30"deep. To the top of the back it is 27" from the floor to the seat it is 14.5" These are in wonderful condition for there age, as far as flaws the one couch has two buttons missing, the one spot where the button is shows a little tear, on the corner on the bottom you will see a small tear I did show that in the pictures, on the back of the couch there are metal brackets where the wood slats fit in, there is a spot of material missing behind the one metal bracket,nothing that is noticeable.The metal brackets do need some polishing they do have some ... morepitting in the metal. The other couch looks great the only flaw I see is a couple of very small pin head spots, very hard to notice hard to pick them up in the pictures. They have not been used for so long I did clean them, the room these were in was very clean no musty or dampness.These are Awesome, you can place these anyway you would like to. The end tables are listed in another auction. Now because of the size these would need to go out Greyhound, they weigh around 65lbs before packing. If going out Greyhound I will take the legs off and the back off and blanket wrap them. Shipping will run 250 that is one price for both Couches. Nice low floating profile and super comfortable! Retains original Dux manufacturer label. I have only seen 3 others Dux models like this online. All 3 said they where designed by Bruno Mathsson, and all three sold in the $7k to 9K range! I have only seen one other with the exact same fabric. But it was on a rare knoll sofa. DIMENSIONS: 92.5" wide x 34" deep. And 24.5" high. CONDITION: Very good condition for age. There where a few repairs to the fabric. One patch on right front armrest. And a seam re-sewn on top side middle of right arm. See detailed pictures. The patch was salvaged from under the cushion from sofa. Very inconspicuous. The fabric ... moreoverall looks quite nice as pictured. Especially given the age. This sofa obviously was not sat in much as the underling padding and cushions are still firm and very comfortable. The polished steel base is in excellent condition. So. To sum it up, this sofa is quite useable and in nice clean and smell free presentable vintage condition as is, or would be a great candidate for someone wanting something vintage with great lines to re-upholster to their own design needs. You are purchasing a Super Cool Vintage Danish Modern Sofa and Lounge Chair Set with great danish legs. It is solid and sturdy and nice quality. Dowels are all tight and no repairs that I can see. Very comfortable to sit in. The cushions are heavy and firm and not cushy. Just may need reupholstered if desired but it is pretty clean with a few stains on opposite side of a couple. Color of fabric is gold and green dots. The springs are all in good condition and are the same on sofa and chair pictured. There are some wear marks(pictured) on the wood but do not take away from the beauty of these peices. They are unmarked but remind me of Ethan Allen or Tell City Chair Company.
