I purchased these at an estate sale here in Santa Fe from a woman who had lived many years in Finland and returned to Santa Fe with all of her European furniture. The credenza behind the sofa was from the same estate.NFS) These pieces are very well constructed and appear hand crafted with an excellent grade of premium dyed leather. I am not sure of the age of these unique pieces and there is no maker’s mark to be found. The leather is supple with no apparent wear. Scuffs or cracks of any kind. This is a beautiful Mid Century Sofa and Chair in a soft turquoise blue. Built in the 1950's by Rowe Manufacturing Co. The set is extremely sound and sturdy with no wobbling. Rowe Manufacturing was(and still is) an upscale furniture manufacturer. The frame is constructed of solid wood and the springs are all in tack with no sagging. This set has been in one home with one owner since it was made in the 1950's. That home was a non-smoking and no-pet home. The fabric appears to be a very thick, heavy nylon blend. Very rare pieces! Sofa and chair have original upholstery and sit atop two beautiful walnut veneer platforms. Can be arranged in an L shape or showcased separately. There is a built in planter on the chair platform with original plants. Not pictured are 4 throw pillows(minus inserts) and 4 arm covers. The sofa and chair can be easily removed from the platforms for transport or to be re-upholstered if desired. CONDITION: Great vintage condition with normal wear due to age and use. There are scratches and nicks/dings in the walnut veneer due to age and use(most along edges of platforms- most noticeable are pictured) There are also some ... morelighter areas on the platform/table tops and ring marks. Adrian Pearsall Craft Associates Mid Century Modern Couch and Chair Unique Sofa
This is a great opportunity to own a beautiful mid century modern matching set couch and chair. I believe this is an Adrian Pearsall Craft Associates set. But there are no tags on the furniture to confirm. Take a look at the amazing wooden legs! This is a real quality set that began life with some of the nicest upholstery work I have seen on furniture of this era. Conditionally the fabric and wood are in very good used condition. The biggest condition problem is that over time the seat of the couch has flattened out(look at pictures) and has some slight wear/discoloration. The back of the couch still looks really nice. The chair is in great condition and does not seem to have been used much. I literally just had both pieces cleaned by professionals so they are good to go in their new home. Mid Century Cube chair- the saga I spotted the stylish modern chair somewhere on a porch. I believe. The fabric was in bad shape and the foam was mashed up, but, the frame was good and full of possibilities. To go back before this day, I had purchased very expensive, wonderful fabric at an upholsterers yard sale. I knew the chair would be perfect for this great design fabric. I signed up for upholstery class and took the chair as my project. I dropped out of the class after one class- upholstry is hard and takes skills I have not yet developed! OK. Then, I enrolled and paid for another attempt at the class. I never went. Finally, a very good, professional upholster did a wonderful job restoring the chair and putting on the fabric. It was just as attractive as I had envisioned. Now, the bad news is that I ended up spending wayyyy too much ... moremoney on the chair. The good news is I am selling the chair for under what I have in it, only $195.00. I now enjoy looking at it, but have used it very little because I did not have room for the chair originally, but it looks sooo good. In the right setting this chair will look outstanding, and, it is very comfortable. It has a expensive look and feel. because it was for me! Upholstry- new Walnut- has lots of distress marks. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own an original 1950's matching couch and chair. I Love Lucy eat your heart out. Near MINT! You can't find anything like it. When I first saw the chair the Star Trek theme played in my head. Everyone calls the chair. Because it's too cool. The sofa's no slouch either. These were one owner when I got them. The only reason I am willing to sell them is because we have a baby due in April. Now it's microfiber. Stain-proof and no style for me. This would be perfect for a SET DESIGNER or someone who wants to have a period correct home. The light plays off the material in such a cool way, I hope it came through on the photos. The stuffing is 1950's technology, so cotton, springs and what not. I would suggest if you were to really want to use and enjoy, you should stuff with memory ... morefoam or something. We have an outstanding pair of vintage loveseats and lounge chair set from the 1950s. Eames era, in burnt organ fabric and walnut. The set reflects the Danish Modern style of the period with its distinctive sculptural form. The furniture frames are made of solid walnut, durable, sturdy and in excellent condition. There is some minor surface wear on the right hand armrest of one of the loveseats. One minor tear on the plaid side of one cushion and some minor thread wear on the cord of the plaid side of another cushion. All other cushions are in wonderful condition. It is rare to find these cushions intact. As noted in the photos, the cushions are reversible.
