The library and its furnishings were built and created in 1959-1960. The interior also featured Florence Knoll chairs and tables. This Mid Century. Architecturally inspired sofa is extremely unusual in that it has a"pull-out" feature that creates a deeper seating area or daybed for one. Seldom seen. We spoke with the librarian at the location, who had been there for 30+ years, and were told that the chairs and sofa had been recovered in the late 1970's. It measures 76" long, 28" high, seat is 30" deep and 36" when extended. The pull out feature works smoothly. The seat cushion is not attached. It has a square tubular brushed chrome and steel frame and legs and light blue tweed fabric. There is a frayed area on the front bottom right corner of the bottom platform and there is some minor discoloration but it has not been steamed cleaned. 50s Atomic Mid Century Modern Sofa Couch Sectional Paul Laszlo Style Eames Era
Description: Offered here is an awesome mid century modern two piece sectional sofa. Angular style in the manner of Paul Laszlo. Designer and manufacturer are unknown. Dates to the early 1950s. Features three button tufted backs and loose cushion seats. The original upholstery is brown with abstract lines running through it. The legs are blonde tapered wood that are set back from the edges to make the sections appear to be floating. A popular mid century design due to the smaller atomic ranches of the 50s to give the illusion of more space. The arms are cushioned and are set at an angle. The bottom edge of the ends taper up to mimic the same lines of the arms. Comes with matching arm covers. Looks great together or with a corner table sitting at an angle. Goes great with a 50s or 60s mid century modern atomic ranch home. C ondition: Condition ... moreis good vintage. All of our items are vintage and any major issues will be pointed out. Minor age appropriate wear. Original upholstery is in pretty good shape. Some darkening in areas on the backs. One small cigarette burn to the arm side of the right section. Not noticed if you put a table next to it. One light spot to one side of one cushion. Otherwise. No rips or tears. Original upholstery is pretty cool if your are a purist or reupholster in your choice of fabric. Cushions are still soft but beginning to deteriorate. No major cracks or breaks. Legs are very sturdy. The material has raised flowers, so, there are some light wear on the right side seat area with the arm rest, in between the flowers, you can see this in the photo, I did not see this when I purchased, so it really is not a big deal. The left side has arm rest, as the center curves, with the end of the right side curving around without a arm rest. Beautiful piece of furniture from the 1950's. On the lower back, there is some spots, that should clean out. As with all Used furniture, I would suggest a mild cleaning. This came from a smoke free& pet free home. The piece has new fabric, but could be recovered again if you desire. All the pieces were completely gone over. The wood was refinished. Up for bid is a 5 piece Mid Century Modern sectional sofa. My grandfather was a family physician in Greensboro and this furniture served as his office furniture in the 1950s and 60s. It was reupholstered with the current fabric in 1995. This sofa is in good vintage condition and has minor stains and two buttons need to be sewed back into place. It is a solid piece and is built to last. They don't make good furniture like this anymore. This is a rare find and needs a new home. I wish I could hold on to it but I'm moving. This is a 1950's or late 1940's modern design. Split sofa in original condition. The photos tell the story, it's 8 feet 8 inches long. One of the sections is faded from sunlight. There is some light wear due to age, and on one of the cushions the fabric is splitting, but overall it's very good. The foam and all the fabric is original to this piece and over 60+ years old. This was the pride and joy of it's owner when moving to the suburbs in the late 1940's(mid century modern home) and was still sitting in the original living room. This is a three piece sectional by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. Has all the original tags that state Craft Associates. It needs new upholstery- this is the original upholstery and it is"molting" The fuzz gets EVERYWHERE. There are rips. Especially in the center piece. One of the back pieces of the sectional has a rip. This piece is on floating bases. I was going to have this piece redone- however I no longer have the space for it. In good shape structurally. Most likely had a 3rd section that joined these 2 in the middle to form an angle. But they look nice set up by themselves, or flanking a square coffee table. They are very worn.
