Michael Taylor Baker Far East dining set 8 chairs 1950s
Michael Taylor for Baker from the 1950's. This appears to have the original finish and upholstery. It measures 68" x 44" with no leaves. Each leaf is 18" so it will extend to 112" x 44" It includes two captains chairs. 6 side chairs, and 3 leaves in the original Baker box. This can seat up to 12. The upholstery is a cream silk? and has no rips, tears, or worn spots. They have not been professionally cleaned so they should be especially beautiful once you have that done. I just didn't want to take the chance. This set is in very good condition with a few exceptions. I have tried to take pictures of the flaws that I can see: The table has some mild crazing to the finish and one side of the table has more fade in the finish than the other. There are 3 heat marks as pictured and some rubbing on the edges but no ... moredeep scratches. There is a small crack on the top layer of one of the leaves as pictured. There was a small piece of wood that cracked and was reglued into one captain's chair as pictured. Both captain's chair seats are sunken and one has water marks on the seat. One of the side chairs has a food mark. There are white scuff marks on some of the legs of the chairs. I know they can be removed but since I am not a professional I didn't attempt it. There is a cover for this that is felt on the bottom and a rose pattern vinyl on top. It definitely shows its age more than the rest of the set but still works for under a tablecloth.
