It is not a true period antique but rather a mixture of styles: Louis XVI(with the classic fluted leg and delicate proportions) and the grandeur of the Rococo style(floral motif at the three crowns) The settee was newly recovered when it was brought over from France about 2 years ago with canvas covering the front and a burlap backing- both in great condition. Measurements: 66" Length x 22" depth x 44" at the highest point.

Seat height 19" including cushion(14 1/2" without) Total weight: 105 lbs including cushions. 90 lbs without. DESCRIPTION: Large. Attractive, vintage sofa in the French Louis XVI style. 6 leg. Even-arm, Knole form. Exposed solid wood frame with cream-colored faux antique painted finish. Caned side panels. Blue crushed velvet upholstery. Button tufted back. 2 loose seat cushions secured with clips. 2 loose side cushions secured with tasseled ropes. All original. The wood frame retains its original faux antique finish. Featuring various hand applied surface and finish effects intended to simulate age/ patina. These effects include: applied, scattered, small superficial dings/abrasions/mars ... moreto the wood itself; applied shadowing in the painted finish; and random, scattered, small black paint spots/marks/spatter. The original cushioning seems to be urethane foam wrapped in polyester fiber. Unsigned. Manufacturer unknown. In the style of Karges. Circa 1960s I believe. Presumed USA. CONDITION: UPHOLSTERY: The upholstery is discolored with age and use. The sofa will require reupholstery. I suspect the side cushions were originally secured with attached tasseled ropes to the front leg post as well as to the back leg posts. If so. The front ropes are absent. SOFA FRAME: The sofa frame is generally in excellent. All original condition. No damages and no significant wear. No restorations. I am assuming most of what looks like wear is the original faux antique surface treatment. No chips. Cracks, breaks, splits. The caning is in excellent condition with no damages. Some light scattered wear to the paint finish. One of the nylon glides is absent.
