VINTAGE 1970s MODERN DANISH SELIG SOFA or COUCH , TEAK WOOD, MADE IN DENMARK
Description This is a vintage 1960s-1970s Danish modernist sofa. It is made in Denmark for SELIG which is a highly collected Danish maker of modern style furniture. It measures 74 inches in total length. 26 inches in height. It is original clean finish. It is missing the seat cushion which would be 67x21 inches. It is missing 1 or 2 of the rubber straps, plus a number of the original rubber straps have age cracks or are over stretched so you will need to replace some of the strapping. The only blemish to the sofa is there are a few little marks(indentations) on the back crest area, i did do a close of pic of a couple, there are a few other marks like that. Due to the size i cannot ship this out by normal shippers. It can either be picked up here on Cape Cod(zip code 02653) or i can recommend a couple of freight shippers. With only a few scratches due to normal wear, with exception of the armrests that have a scratching mark on each of them, of about one inch where the hands rest(years ago I had a cat and she was very friendly with the corners of the armrests) but other than that, the frame is super solid wood. No wobbly parts, and no missing or broken parts. My guess is that the armsrest corners can probably be refinished. It might need new cushions cause the ones that come with it are very soiled. But they're still included with the loveseat. It was purchased about 7 years ago for about $700 in a second hand local store that only sells mid century furniture. But I'm not sure what brand is it. For your consideration is a Fantastic Vintage Mid-Century Modern Sofa. With a Solid Walnut Frame and a Mustard Yellow Upholstery, very much in the style of Adrian Pearsall! It is in the exact condition shown. Clearly needing to be recovered, by the frame is very solid and the foam is even still nice. Needs to be re-strapped as you can see. The only damage to the frame that I can see, is that one side at the legs there is some minor separation where it is doweled in, should just be a clamp and glue job. This is shown in the closeup(last photo) The sofa is nice and stable as it sits however, does not feel weak or cheap, clearly very well built! Vintage Mid Century Danish Modern Teak Platform Sofa with Original Worn Cushions
This wonderful 1960s Danish modern platform sofa from a midwest estate is of excellent quality and is in structurally sound and sturdy used condition with wear to the back of the wooden rail bolster support as shown. The original cushions are included but the original upholstery is faded. Soiled and has a few holes. Each of the 3 cushions is zippered, so they could easily be removed and cleaned/replaced if desired. There is a maker's label, but it is mostly obscured by the webbing, which has already been replaced once and could use tightening. The bookcase compartments have a slight downward angle to them from use over the years but this does not affect them structurally and is common spacing in the joints from the 50+ years of use. The foam is still usable though it is starting to become less soft from age. The original green vinyl is in overall good condition with no rips or holes. Please keep in mind that this set came from the original owners and they had it in their basement/family room for 50+ years. The vinyl does have a musty smell to it.
