PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY WHISTLE ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a large authentic Pre Columbian pottery. Terra cotta, whistle/ ocarina from ecuador. Jamacoaque ... morefrom a private collection dating 350 B C- 1200 A D. This is not a reprodution. The front has a human head on what sems to be the front of a jaguar with paw feet. It tapers to a rounded point and has a handle. The face has excellent detail with deep set eyes with brow ridges, earrings, very prominent nose ring and an open mouth with pointed teeth. The teeth give it a rather frightening appearance no doubt intentional. The nose is not damaged but obscured by the thick nose ring that hangs down onto the top lip. The head with a headdress and side lappets. There is a hole at the back end and one in back of the head. The body is clear but I believe there is still debris in the head as IT WILL NOT TWEET. I did not want to try to dislodge debris and damage the holes. It measures 4 1/2 inches long and approx 4 1/4 inches high and rests on two paw feet. Clay color is a buff color not quite as dark as in the photos. I am saying Jamacoaque but it was in with Jamacoaque and also La Tolita fragments and I am not an expert. It is in very good condition with some chips to the side lappets that are not evident from the front but I have the damage pictured. I see evidence of an old repair or restoration on the front legs as there is a thin line that extends over to the back(see photos) However. I do not see evidence of a clean break all around and I do not see any type of glue in the lines. The clay color is very consisent and the restoration or repair was done a long time ago in Ecuador and not by the private collector who brought them back years ago. There seems to be no evidence of trying to hide the breaks unless they were cracks and the piece was not broken or separated. Other pieces in the collection had repairs and evidence of glue and some of these are in my other listings. I have close up photos of the lines or breaks that i have darkened a bit in the photos to show

Pre Columbian erotic pottery 800 AD -1100 AD RARE #1st edit book W/examples
Pre- Colombian. PERU Erotic Pottery and This rare book by Hoyle 1965 in Very Good Condition depicts in color these examples in color, cataloged in the centerfolds. It gives history, origin, tribal customs, location of find, digs, maps, civilization info and dates the pottery. Obtained in peru in the 1960.S and brought to the states these perfect pieces are museum quality flawless with exception of a chip on the nose ring as seen in picture. The book tells all, its numbered 247 of 3000 that exist. The first books are hand made and have real color pictures attached to heavy pages and are personally type numbered editions as in this example.Experts have seen and authenticated these pieces these are guaranteed the real deal. No certificate exists as the university professors were guests many times where they were displayed in the 60,s and 70,s.I ... moream the second owner Ron kasim who brought them from Peru is alive and still lives nearby. Almost all the erotic pottery was destroyed as mentioned in the book. The new land being civilized by the church and its missions had 0 tolerance for erotic pottery and the book was to preserve a historical evidence[witness] the government saw as embarrassing and their goal was to make this evidence go away. historical suppression and standing orders to destroy erotic objects was the daily business. To find unbroken full pieces is well. I have seen few others sure one has a break crack and a small chip but to be this near mint condition is a real find. the painting[coloring] has been preserved and they were prized decorations and not used by the natives. They are not pipes they look to be but that was not the purpose.

Rare & Important Pre-Columbian Maya/Jaina Figure w/ROGERS COA
Here is an unusual hollow ceramic figural whistle in the form of a garbed standing figure holding a large rasp or percussion instrument in the crook of his right arm. A striker in his left hand. Most significantly, he wears a duck-bill buccal(mouth) mask. Pre-Columbian representations of humans wearing duck-bill masks are rare but not entirely unknown. The best-known example is the“Tuxtla Statuette” now in the Smithsonian Institute. Another“human/duck” combination exists on alter 7 at La Venta. And a third is found on monument 5 at Cerro de Las Mesas. The most recently-published example was uncovered in Chiapas; a ceramic jar dating to 1400-1250 B.C.E. depicts a human upper face with a duck beak projecting from just beneath the nose. It appears likely that this figure is either a mythical being(note the pronounced eyebrows and cheeks) or ... morea shaman in the process of transforming into zoomorphic form. Birds. Especially migrating birds, were believed to carry the soul of a deceased person to the resting place of the dead. Referring to the human/duck-bill relationship, Robert Rosenswig has written, It is also significant that this mythical being. And/or religious specialist dressed as a duck, has now been documented from the nearly the beginning of ceramic use in Mesoamerica and so may even have a preceramic origin. Calcareous accretions and traces of“Maya Blue” pigment adhere to the figure. Which measures 5.5" 14 cm) x 3" 7.6 cm) x 2.25" 5.7 cm) Legs restored and in very good overall condition. JAINA ISLAND. RARE Pre-Columbian Figure Ceremonial Effigy Vessel Double Chambered Tairona
For your Bidding Consideration in this Auction is a very Rare Effigy Vessel used in"marriage" type Ceremonies and perhaps other similar Ceremonial events. Notice both figures are joined at the waist with arms intertwined. There is a chip on the lip of the cup on the left side. The handle appears to have been professionally repaired at one point. There is also a crack to the neck area on the figure on the left which also appears to have been repaired. It measures@ 7" tall x 10" wide at the widest part x 5" deep at the widest part. Please view photos for your consideration. Most likely Colombian Tairona. Please note. I am selling out a private collection of Pre-Columbian pieces over the next few months so please see my other listings as I do offer combined shipping. This item for auction is one of those pieces. The ... moreowner acquired this personally from an antiquities gallery in Cartagena. Colombia in the mid 1980's. There is not an accompanying COA nor have I had it analyzed myself by an expert.
