Stock has a beautiful vignette of a stream train going over a small bridge with a man on a horse watching the train and a country setting in the background. The Pittsburgh, Youngstown and Ashtabula was formed in the 1800's and eventually became a part of the Pennsylvania RR and Penn Central. These certificates are actually signed by hand, which is unusual for this period of time. The certificate offered is in good condition for its age and has the normal punch cancellation and staple holes. Nice looking certificate and is a great conversation piece of a famous company. Certificate would make a fine addition to your collection or a great gift. Stock certificate collecting is becoming increasingly popular due to the historical significance of many of the companies and their increasing rarity. Beautifully engraved and authentic $1.000 bond certificate from the Canadian National Railway Company issued on November 15, 1976. This is an original certificate, not a copy or reproduction. The certificate has an attractive vignette of a locomotive pulling freight cars along a track. The bond is written in both English and French. Like many modern corporations. Canadian National Railways was the result of the merging of a large number of smaller and older companies whose operations were combined over the years to form a more complex transportation system. The railway can trace it's history through more than 200 separate companies and as far back as 1836 with the opening of the first public railway in Canada, the Champlain& St. Lawerence Railroad. The Cleveland& Pittsburgh Railroad was chartered in 1836 by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in response to public interest in building a rail line between the 2 cities. Originally known as the Cleveland, Warren& Pittsburgh, the first charter was set aside until 1845, when interest in building a rail line from Cleveland to the Pennsylvania state line revived. Lack of funding delayed construction in Cleveland and forced the city council to ask for construction support at a public hearing in 1847. By 1852 the track for the Ohio connection with Pittsburgh and Wheeling had been laid from Cleveland through Hudson and Ravenna to Wellsville on the Ohio River. In 1856 a C&P train departing Cleveland became the first to burn coal in its locomotive engine; a more efficient fuel, coal quickly supplanted wood as the railroads' energy source. The vignette shows two steam engine locomotives pulling passenger cars under a bridge. Authentic Chicago. Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company stock certificate dated in 1915. These are so old that they are signed by the officers of the company(no facsimiles) and many are filled out by hand as well. Certificate has a great vignette of a steam engine and is hand signed. This same certificate is'on sale' at a major antique website for $60. Originally chartered in Illinois on February 27. 1848, as the Rock Island and LaSalle Rail Road Company, the road was renamed Chicago and Rock Island Rail Road Company on February 7, 1851, and Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad Company in 1866. In Texas the Rock Island operated 633 miles of main track plus joint ownership of the Burlington-Rock Island. Three main Rock Island routes crossed the state. The Midcontinent Route ran from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Fort Worth and Dallas ... moreand, with the Burlington-Rock Island, to Houston and Galveston. The other two main lines connected with the Southern Pacific at Tucumcari, New Mexico, to form through routes to the Pacific Coast. These were the Golden State Route, running from Chicago and Kansas City through Dalhart, and the Choctaw Route, which ran from Memphis and Oklahoma City through Amarillo. In addition to its Texas routes, the Rock Island also served the major railroad centers of St. Louis, Missouri, and Denver, Colorado. Two of the named passenger trains of the Rock Island operating across Texas were the Twin Star Rocket and the Golden State Limited. The Rock Island acquired thirty-nine miles of the Wichita Falls and Southern Railroad between Graham and South Hanlon in 1955. But abandoned this line in 1969.
