Vintage early 1900's Mayan clay Museum Quality Aztec Toltec Idol God figure
Let me start by saying that this item caught my attention and I hope you see what I saw in it. This piece was picked up in an estate sale and is one of the best early 19th century Mayan sculptures made in Mexico that I've seen. The detail in the head dress and body are outstanding. Its made of clay/ terracotta and stands around 8 1/2" tall the darker shades of grey on the head dress and chest seem to be a light grey wash. The top is hollow so you can look inside to see the workmanship. I hope that someone looking for something for their collection like this will take advantage in getting their hands on this fine item. This listing is for an old figurine from Central America region. Condition is very primitive with back of head chipped. Also I don't know if this was intended as a torso only or if that is all that remains from this figurine. This item is from my grandmother's collection of fine antiques. Ancient Mayan 3 Effigy Clay Ceremonial Vessel - Meso-American
This 7" clay Meso-American ceremonial vessel depicts 3 joined effigies and is believed to be of Mayan origin. Interesting subject matter consists of 3 figures covering their eyes. Ears and mouth- the cultural significance of which is unknown to me. This is an authentic, ancient artifact which has had the base part of the vessel broken off over the ages and that base has been reconstructed with newer clay. There have also been other small, original clay pieces broken off and re-glued. Good overall condition for an authentic clay artifact which has been restored. See photos. I do not know when it was made but comes from a trustworthy estate of pieces that were accumulated as part of an impressive collection that was sold by a professor's wife in Champaign. Pre Columbian Mayan Clay Whistle Indian Artifact Male Figurine Torso Arrowheads
This is a great Mayan artifact whistle made out of fired clay. It is a male figurine torso, the head has been severed, and the feet are broken off, but the stem of the whistle is complete, and it still whistles quite loudly! It is absolutely authentic Mayan artifact measuring about 2" tall.
