Rare Pre Columbian "Patojo" Pot - Ometepe Island, Nicaragua, c.800 AD - 1200 AD
Patojo Pot from Ometepe Island. Nicaragua-Nicaro Culture 800-1200 A.D Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is a rare"patojo" pot from Ometepe Island. Nicaragua and made around 1000 years ago by the Nicaro culture(a branch of the Greater Nicoya Culture) Ometepe Island is located in Lake Nicaragua and it's name means two volcanoes. This is an interesting and rare piece of pre-Columbian pottery that it is decorated in the form of a guinea pig with eyes on either side and a snout at the tip of the pot. A"patojo" pot is called this because it is commonly made in the shape of a shoe, which is pronounced"patojo" in Spanish. These were made by pre-Columbian cultures all over the Americas and the reason for this is that these pots allowed the user to dip into the warm contents from the pot while the ... moreelongated end of the pot rested in a classic"comal" style oven. This anthropomorphic vessel has marks that represent the hair on the animal and that change at the tip to fit the face of the creature. This pot measures 6 3/4" X 4 3/4" with a height of 4" and the mouth of this pot is 3" wide. This piece has only got ships to the flared rim which still has red pigment on the top and seems to have black pigment on the underside. On the bottom of this piece the hash marks stop and on it are a collector's numbers. International buyers pay full cost of shipping. Whatever that might be. Please see my other auctions for more artifacts. Thanks for Looking!

VERY RARE & FINE-ANCIENT Pre-Columbian MAYAN Tubular JADEITE Bead
Very finely crafted. Long slender Mayan Jadeite bead, sourced in the Highlands of Guatemala. This amazing bead speaks to a level of craftsmanship that only the very early Indus Valley Cultures have equalled. Considering the technology at hand(which was that of sticks and abrasive powders) how does one make such a fine and delicate bead! The walls are thin, and the holes oversized. This allowed for maximizing the translucent quality of the jadeite. There is a little wear at one of the stringing holes, otherwise this wonderful and rare bead is in excellent condition. 25mm x 4mm. We combine shipping costs. ALL US POSTAL SERVICE FEES HAVE BEEN RAISED An additional fee will be added for shipping to Asia, as a tracking number is required.

Rare CLAY HEAD with Torso Figural pre Columbian Authentic ARTIFACT See***
Here is a small ceramic artifact. From an old private collection. This collection has been in the US from 1962. And we are proud to be offering this item for sale, at this time. Measures: Under 2 inches in height. And just over 1. 60 inches at its w idest part. We think it comes from an area of Mexico. Like Colima. Or Nayarit state, but with the turban, wrapped on his head. We may be looking at an early Clay arti fact from Southeast or South Asia. In fact. So the exact origin of this small piece is unknown. But something about the Ear plugs. And small bo w( BIT of jewellry) at the neck. Makes us gravitate towards Asia in its origin. We are quite sure it is pre Columbi an in age. In other words, at least 700 years old, or much earlier. May easily date to the BC period. But we have not had it scientifically tested. these wer e most freque ntly ... morediscove red in groupings. And people used to collect them. Most are in Public Museums, on di splay. Some ar e still floating about. In private collections. A rare find, and adorable. Should be mounted for a nicer display. Happy to take it back. Geometric symbols, and animals that look like tentacle squid around the outsid of the completely painted bowl! both the inside and the outside are highly complex in design, not your typicalone color clay vessel! The shape was the favorite thing of my client's father and grandfather! When upside down, it resembles a flying saucer or space ship! Well, anyhow I can also mention antonltd who viewed the item and gave me an estimate agreed upon by two collectors, myself and him as the professional with a reconstructed value minimum $2200.00! I will provide a written original of his estimate for the $68.00 fee he charges to put everything inwriting should the buyer wish to have the appraisal from him. You can visit his site with online store and physical shops in Metairie,La.and Beverly Hills,Ca. He sells and makes jewelry, carries all types of antiques, furs and object d' art! he is a certified appraiser as well as a certified gia gemologist an an excellent jeweler! I recommend you visit his e-bay site under antonltd and see the quality of just a few items he has at auction. Remember, this piece is prt of a third generation Louisiana collect

Extremely Rare Pre-Columbian Ceremonial Pipe and Vase - antique pottery
Extremely Rare Pre-Columbian Pottery Ceremonial Pipe and Vase- antique pottery It is my understanding that the two items were found during the original excavation of the Panama Canal. The vase is missing the head. Which I was told looked the same as the head on the pipe. I contacted Christies of New York about auctioning the items. As they do not have an auction category for these items, they have referred me to a specialist. As I don't have much in the way of patience, I am now offering these pieces on Ebay. Sotheby's also responded to these pieces, but since their auction estimate was under $5.000, they will not sell it. The pieces are about three inches square. Apiece. What they are worth is up to you! Happy Bidding! Aloha Joe
RARE ANCIENT PRE-COLUMBIAN TEXTILE-"PERUVIAN MUMMY/GRAVE DOLL, CHANCAY
RARE ANCIENT PRE-COLUMBIAN TEXTILE-PERUVIAN MUMMY/GRAVE DOLL. CHANCAY. This is not a modern doll dressed in pre Columbian textiles. This was dug from the dessert from what the previous owner stated. It does have a very earthy smell if you smell it but in an open room it is not noticeable. They stopped allowing importing to the USA in 1921 so these are very difficult to find. A great addition to any collection.

CEREMONIAL CELT, PRE COLUMBIAN, EXTREMELY RARE, HUMAN SACRIFICE
Provenance: This beautiful deep blue celt. Was found by my 14 year old son about 1:00 pm on 6/14/13. I believe it to be a Caddoan Indian artifact, since we live in the Saline river valley, the middle fork, near Jessieville, Arkansas. This implement, is one of the finest examples of a Ceremonial Celt, that I have ever seen, anywhere. It is also one of the sharpest, I have ever touched. The celt is eight& 7/8's inches long and weighs 13.5 ounces. A sharp and hefty tool for sacrificing, decapitations, dismemberment. We have found many artifacts here, because the Saline river runs through our farm. This hardstone celt, fits perfectly in your left hand, due to the offset twist you see in the main photo. The only flaw, is a one thumbnail sized chip, out of the right side, on the wide end. This is an extremely RARE, museum quality piece, ... morefor cutting flesh& bone. RARE Pre-Columbian CHUPICUARO FACE BOWL, circa 300 B.C.
RARE Pre-Columbian CHUPICUARO FACE BOWL. Circa 300 B.C. Click to View Image Album This is a superb Pre-Columbian CHUPICUARO FACE BOWL. Circa 300 B.C. 250 A.D. The ceramic style is named after the village of Chupícuaro in the western Mexican state of Guanajuato where it was found. Situated on the Lerma River the culture was active from about 300 BC to AD 250. During the same time Teotihuacán flourished. Luckily excavations of the site were conducted in 1946-7 revealing much of what we know today. In 1949 the Solís Dam was constructed. This led to the flooding of the area which today remains under a lake formed by this act. Chupícuaro ceramics were formed without the use of a potting wheel. The mastery of this hand-building skill is seen in the symmetry and form of the vessel. Many whole examples of this style of pottery ... moreremain intact due to the thickness of the vessel walls. This bowl is hand painted with the colors that were taken from natural elements and exhibits a stylized human face on one side. The textile-like geometric designs are typical of Chupícuaro pottery and are also found painted onto human figurines that were also abundantly made. The significance of the designs is unknown. This rare face bowl measures 4” high. 10 ½” wide and is in good condition aside from two 1” stress cracks at the upper edge and some natural abrasion and wear due to age and use. PROVENANCE: This item comes directly from the estate of a Beverly Hills Pre-Columbian art collector and was legally imported into the United States over 50 years ago. Authenticity is GUARANTEED. A Rare Pre-Columbian Nayarit Vessel in the Form of Two Joined Standing Dogs
Rare Pre-Columbian Nayarit Vessel in the Form of Two Joined Standing Dogs. Protoclassic ca. 100 B.C.A.D. 250. This unique hollow ceramic vessel in the form of either two joined dogs or one two-headed dog. With red-orange burnished slip mottled with areas black manganese oxide within the surface, dates to the Protoclassic Period of the West Mexican Nayarit sculptural tradition and is related to the San Sebastian Red sub-style, ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250. There have been many speculations on what significance or symbolism there might be regarding conjoined dogs. This type of sculpture was probably an inspiration to Pos-Columbian artists such as the Surrealists. FSA:EA Comparisons: Please see: Sculpture of Ancient West Mexico.
