Large Pre Columbian Mayan Toltec Stone Carving Quetzalcoatl Mayan artifact
Pre columbian mayan toltec stone head that reportedly came out of the Yucatan during the 1960's. I belive that this piece could have been carved with stone chisel. The age of this piece is unknown and sold as is with no authenticity expressed or implied. This could be a very rare object that shows a man with what could be facial hair. This could be a representation of the Mayan Deity Quetzalcoatl. Measures 6 1/8" tall and weighs 6 pounds 4 oz. Note the carved eyes are very similar to the carved stone warrior head of Chichen Itza. Obsidian Toltec Indian Elk Worrior statue. This is an amzing piece! An elaboate example of art from The Americas. This Elk Warrior is carved from Obsidian which is actuallyh lava Rock. Decorated with carved stering silver chest, back, and loin pieces, inlayed with malachite. Silver arm bands inlayed with malachite, and silver bracelets, and silver"rattles" Dramatic head wear is carved into an elk with sterling silver antlers. Base of staute has a small sterling silver trim with HAS begun to come off- looks a though a double epoxy glue will re-attatch it. Polishes up nicely, I chose to leave the statue as is. Purchsed near the Yucatan. This Toltec statue is beautiful. Carved from Obsidian, it is a Jaguar Worrior, with sterling silver collar and earrings. each side of mask has 2 circular flush set crushed Lapis Lazuli, and one circle on top of Jaguar's head piece. This particular statue does have a 1/2" chip of front lower left base, still a wonderous piece. Apprx 6-1/2" tall on a 2" x 2" base.

Vintage early 1900's Mayan clay Museum Quality Aztec Toltec Idol God figure
Let me start by saying that this item caught my attention and I hope you see what I saw in it. This piece was picked up in an estate sale and is one of the best early 19th century Mayan sculptures made in Mexico that I've seen. The detail in the head dress and body are outstanding. Its made of clay/ terracotta and stands around 8 1/2" tall the darker shades of grey on the head dress and chest seem to be a light grey wash. The top is hollow so you can look inside to see the workmanship. I hope that someone looking for something for their collection like this will take advantage in getting their hands on this fine item.
