PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT ECUADOR Very unusual authentic pottery head fragment that is difficult to identify as to the subject. It apprears ... moreto be an animal with a long snout. Some of which is missing, and the remains of two horns on the back of the head. Since it is wearing a rather ornate headdress it might be an zoomorphic representation of a Shaman but there is not enough of the figure to make any kind of distinction. The headress has the remains of red paint and there are pieces missing. The cheeks are puffed out, some of the figures have puffed heeks attributed to chewing of coca leaves but that is doubtful for an animal and possible or a Shaman. The clay color is mottled grayish tan. Some fine crystaline deposits evident in the clay. One cheek is depressed as it it were done before firing or collapsed after firing as it is not broken. There is a small firing hole at the top of the head and the head is hollow. It is 2 3/4 inches high and 2 3/4 inches across the front. The base where it is broken is a circle 1 3/4 inches in diameter with a hole that is 3/4 inches in diameter. It will sit flat as it is in most of the photographs or will mount nicely. It was in a private collection from Eccuador with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments but since I am not an expert I cannot positively identify the culture or the exact age. These two cultures span from 300 B.C. to 1000 A.D. This is not a reproduction.

Pre-Columbian Clay Head of Aztec Burial Piece
Pre-Columbian Head of Aztec Here we go. I bought this head in the early 1970s from New England Rare Coin Gallery. I think I paid $25 or $29. So. I had this thing now for over 35 years now. Wife hates it, but I had this thing longer than my wife! This stands 33mm tall. And its width is 35mm. I tried mounting it once using hot glue, remnants remain. I painted it gold many moons ago. In addition, I filed the side of its head(see photo with horizontal file scrape marks) So, this head is no longer a spring chick. However, it is kosher and not the modern junk you find today listed elsewhere. I don't know if this head represents Aztec, but his profile sure resembles one. But then again, it looks like a cat, too. You figure. SALES TAX: For shipment within New York State. 8% sales tax will be added to invoice, unless the buyer has a resale certificate ... morewith filled-in ST-120 form. We would need to have a jpg image of it sent by email. There are no exceptions.

Pre-Columbian Mexico AZTEC ALIEN-LIKE Clay Figure Head !
SquareTrade © AP6.0 Here's a very odd Pre-Columbian AZTEC TEOTIHUACAN"ALIEN-LIKE" HUMAN? FIGURE HEAD(ca. 700-1100 AD) from near the famous Teotihuacan Pyramids in Mexico's Central Highlands. It's 1 5/8 in. 4.2cm) high. 1 5/8 in. 4.2cm) wide and 3/4 in. 2.0cm) thick. It has oddly defined features which look much like those of the alien creatures often associated with the so-called flying saucer crash in"Area 51" in Nevada many years ago. Is it possible aliens from another world visited the Aztecs many years ago? Not likely, but I must admit this is one of the strangest clay figure heads I've handled in the past 60 years! I'll let the buyer be the judge. These heads were once on full human clay figures but were broken off and cast into the fields to ensure crop fertility. It's made of fired reddish/tan ... moreclay and in fair condition. My Feedback Profile and eBay preferred seller reputation attest to my integrity and honesty. The authenticity of my artifacts and relics is guaranteed for life, OR YOUR MONEY BACK! Buyer pays $3.00 S/H. Shipping charges to foreign buyers may be greater. No reserve. Good luck!

Rare CLAY HEAD with Torso Figural pre Columbian Authentic ARTIFACT See***
Here is a small ceramic artifact. From an old private collection. This collection has been in the US from 1962. And we are proud to be offering this item for sale, at this time. Measures: Under 2 inches in height. And just over 1. 60 inches at its w idest part. We think it comes from an area of Mexico. Like Colima. Or Nayarit state, but with the turban, wrapped on his head. We may be looking at an early Clay arti fact from Southeast or South Asia. In fact. So the exact origin of this small piece is unknown. But something about the Ear plugs. And small bo w( BIT of jewellry) at the neck. Makes us gravitate towards Asia in its origin. We are quite sure it is pre Columbi an in age. In other words, at least 700 years old, or much earlier. May easily date to the BC period. But we have not had it scientifically tested. these wer e most freque ntly ... morediscove red in groupings. And people used to collect them. Most are in Public Museums, on di splay. Some ar e still floating about. In private collections. A rare find, and adorable. Should be mounted for a nicer display. Happy to take it back. CHUPICUARO Pre-Columbian MEXICO head EFFIGY 400 BCE -100 BCE preHorizon FRAGMENT
This ancient antiquity is a Chupícuaro head fragment from a Chupícuaro fertility effigy. I bought this in San Miguel. Mexico( located in the far eastern part of the state of Guanajuato) at an estate sale in the early 1970s when I was living there during the summer. The effigy fragment still has remnants of red paint. The nose and mouth. And left side are broken off. It measures 1 ½ x 1 ¼ x ½ inch depth. Stand not included. There is also glue residue on the back as the fragment as it was once attached to a velvet backed display case. Chupícuaro(a pre-Horizon culture) fertility effigies were placed into the dirt by a Chupícuaro farmer during the planting season to appease the goods to insure a bountiful harvest. Subsequently. After centuries of being plowed or tilled over, the heads usually break off from ... morethe bodies. Chupícuaro Excerpt from Wikipedia. The free encyclopedia The Chupícuaro culture was located in the mountains of central Mexico and is named for the area in which the artifacts have been found. It is an important pre-Hispanic archeological site from the late pre-classical or formative period; located west of the Mexican Plateau. On the hills nearby the Lerma River and its tributary Coroneo or Tiger River; which currently under water because of the Solis dam. Just 7 kilometers from Acamaro in the Guanajuato State, near the Michoacán State border in Mexico Little is known about the history of this site. And it was not until 1946, due to a dam construction, that the first explorations were performed, discovering pottery objects and tombs. The place is currently below dam water, although there are surrounding areas still being explored. According to several sources. It is believed that this settlement developed between 500 BC and 300 AD, although some scientists suggest an older development, as far back as 800 BC. Establishing a firm chronology for Chupícuaro has been very problematic. Due to a lack of stratigraphic excavations and reliable C 14 dates.

The terracotta effigy fragment has a grey patina as it was on the surface of a planting field when the unknown tribe slashed and burned the field prior to replanting. FERTILITY HEAD/FEMALE FIGURE, CHUPICUARO PRE-COLUMBIAN, WESTERN MEXICO
FERTILITY HEAD/FEMALE FIGURE. CHUPICUARO PRE-COLUMBIAN. WESTERN MEXICO Length: 2 1/2" Width: 1 3/4" Thick: 1/2" Weight: 8 oz This Pre-Columbian Female Fertility Effigy comes from the Mexican state of Jalisco. It was part of a major 19th century collection assembled by an American banker. The ancient Chupicuaro devoted their time and skills to creating pottery figurines. And other small artifacts. Characteristically flat. Chupícuaro human figurines can also be realistically three dimensional or shaped into vessels. They are distinguished by their slanted, coffee-bean shaped eyes. The figurines are typically depicted as female, indicated by a part in the center of the hair or headdress, and can be fashioned with intricately molded clay clothing and jewelry. Most figurines were left unpainted, but occasionally some were decorated ... morewith bright colors. Hundreds of years later, the remnants of red paint can still be seen on some of their faces and jewelry. This artifact was used to promote fertility among the ancients. Typically it was nightly placed atop the female womb with the requisite prayers and rituals. While broken from a larger piece. This artifact maintains the paint integrity and the remarkable detail of the Chupicuaro culture. On Aug-06-13 at 21:26:33 PDT. Seller added the following information: Posted with
