RH1 Fantastic group of Ancient Beads. These have been packed away for over 50 years by the original collector. Although I felt there would be a significant ... morevalue diffirence if I separated them I felt obligated to keep them together as this may have been the way the group was discovered. Looking at shape and orientation I lean that way. These are larger beads than many I see out here and display quite well. I am not an expert on these but my research shows these are Meso American probably Mayan culture although Olmec civilization is also possible. You won't be disappointed with this group! 100% guaranteed ancient beads with full refund. Bid with confidence.

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POLYCHROME HEAD FRAGMENT AUTHENTIC 4 1/2 " POTTERY
PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR FRAGMENT HEAD POLYCHROME ANCIENT This is an authentic(not a reproduction) ancient pre columbian polychrome head fragment from Ecuador. In close inspection there are traces of black manganese deposits and what appears to be tiny crystals in the clay. These are so small you almost need a jewelers loupe to see them but they reflect in the light. The clay is a yellowish color with original red paint on the face and one side. The top of the head is arched backward as you can see from the side view. It is missing the long piece of what appears to be a headdress on the right side but the rest of the head seems in excellent condition. There is a hole in the top of the head on the edge still with soil in it and you can see the debris still in the mouth and eyes. The head is hollow. It measures 4 1/2 inches over the top of the ... morehead to the chin. 2 3/4" across the crown with the face itself is 2 x 1 1/2" The opening on the underside allows the figure to be suspended and mounted. It is suspended i on a lucite stand only to display and photograph it in the upright position as it will not stand on its own. The nose has a long rounded cut underneath that seems intentional as I have other figures with the nose the same making the it protrude. This appears to be a female head with earrings. It is very three dimensional when viewed from the side with heavy lidded yes. I am not an expert and cannot positively identify the culture but it was in a private collection with La Tolita fragments. La Tolita was in Northern Ecuador between 300 B.C.and 200 A.D. in the Period of Regional Development. Please free to ask questions and look carefully at my photographs for details.

Pre Columbian Hohokam culture 2 Stone Palettes Sacaton Phase 950 - 1125 AD
Hi! Up for auction are two ancient Hohokam culture Sedentary Period Sacaton Phase Stone Palettes from the Phoenix Basin region. They are dated from 950 to 1125 AD. From the pictures. These two ancient Hohokam culture Stone Palettes were made of slate and have raised borders consisting of opposing crosshatched triangles. These two palettes were found containing traces of red, white, and green paint pigments. The red pigment is lead slag encrustations. It was likely lead carbonate and when burned glowed a strong red color(Hawly in Gladwin& others, 1965;282-289) The green glaze pigment patches are copper ore. Provenance: These Hohokam culture Sedentary Period Sacaton Phase Stone Palettes were found in a ruin along the Gila River in Florence. Arizona, USA. In the early 1960s, they were collected on a privately owned farm by an Arizonan artifact ... morecollector with permission from the landowner. Therefore. These artifacts are perfectly legal to buy and sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600. CHAPTER 14. Background History: During the Colonial and Sedentary Period. Many palettes were quite well shaped, exquisitely carved, and may have not been used to mix paint at all. Many palettes may have been used to grind hallucinogenic plants(Lowell 1990, White 2004) Most palettes easily fit in ones hand being rectangular in shape. Most measure between four to eight inches in length. However they were made in a wide range of sizes. Palettes are usually made of slate or slate-like schist. Earlier and later undecorated ones were usually made of harder stone. Many have a slight basin in or near the center caused by grinding. Some have been found containing traces of red, white, and yellow paints, although palettes may have been used to grind organic material as well. Many have been found with patches of lead slag encrustations on the surfaces, some of these have small vitreous green glaze patches also. Most palettes were offerings used in cremation ceremonies. But many were not. Palettes may have been use

Pre Columbian Obsidian- Teotihuacan Mazapan / Xolalpan - 2 " x 1.5 " Arrowhead
Pre Columbian Teotihuacan Mazapan/ Xolalpan Obsidian Arrowhead. Description: Item origin; Teotihuacan. Classic period; 200- 400 A.D. Item is from private collection. Modern viewpoint on Obsidian sharpness: It's hard to believe but the sharpest knives that have ever been used in recent years were mounted with stone flakes made of obsidian. A company called Aztecnics was manufacturing and selling surgical scalpels mounted with different sizes and shapes of obsidian blades. Good quality obsidian fractures down to single molecules which can produce a cutting edge 500 times sharper than the sharpest steel scalpel blade(American Medical News" Nov. 2, 1984:21) On the cellular level an obsidian knife can cut between cells rather than tear the cells as a steel knife will do. A sharper cut will allow a wound to heal more rapidly with less ... morescarring. High magnification of a steel scalpel blade edge looks like a serrated saw blade but an obsidian edge looks smooth. If you have any questions before bidding. Please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking.

Pre-Columbian Pottery Vase  2.5” High
Pre-Columbian Pottery Vase 2.5” High I am selling a portion of my family collection that has been in our family for well over 45 years. Due to downsizing and not having the storage room any longer I would rather others enjoy these unique pieces of old pottery. They have been stored in glass display cases for most of their time while in my care. They all come from a non smoking environment and great care will be taken in their packing. Double boxed for extra cushioning and excess bubble wrap. These were all aquired by my family while travelling and living in Peru and Bolivia. All the items were aquired from various sources and were verified by a local museum curator at the time. None have documents and providing carbon dating documentation even the most elaborate museums cannot afford. Knowing where the items were found is key and all in my ... morecollection were aquired in archeological ventures. Pre-Columbian Pottery Bowl 2.5” H 2. Wide Pre-Columbian pottery vase with geometric pigment decoration. Condition: Wear consistent with age. See photos. Pigment still visible and body- small chip on vase lip. 2 Pre-Columbian JADE Pendant Fragments~ From an old collection!
Greeting Fellow Kollectors! Up for sale are from my most recent finds! This beautiful antique hand carved Haida wooden mask came from a wonderful estate of a man who was described by his widow as a'an amateur Indian Jones of sorts' He was an early film documentary film maker who travelled and explored all over the world and hence where his extensive collection of interesting and amazing artifacts came from. This pendant was told to me to be Pre-Columbian in origin as the original owner had a vast collection of such artifacts. Collected in the 50's and 60's. It has a wonderful patina and is carved with by a skilled hand. The item looks very ancient and there are no signs of modern tooling. It's definitely nephrite or Jade. It has good weight. I am not an expert and have no paper work to accompanying any of the pieces from ... morethis collection. But based on the story of the former owner's widow, I believe them to be old. Please use your own judgement before bidding: Approx. 2" I have listed many more incredible pieces from this kollection:

Kurt Stavenhagen was a Wikipedia-worthy collector of Precolumbian sculpture to whom I was introduced by Ferdinand Anton- a German anthropologist and photographer who filmed my family exploring the Maya ruins at Chichen Itza in 1964 for a movie he made for Time/ Life Magazines and German television which compared modern art. Such as Picasso and Henry Moore, with ancient art like the Maya. I also studied how to distinguish an authentic precolumbian sculpture from a fake: 1) provenance; know the source; 2) study precolumbian anthropology; see what's in the museums and the books; 3) lick. Or otherwise wet, the object and see how long it takes to dry; ancient ceramics- such as this one- take a long time to dry because they are more porous than new ceramics. 5) Shipping. 2 Valdivia Venus Figures Ancient Pottery Artifacts Pre-Columbian Ecuador NR
Hi. I 2 very ancient Valdivia Venus figures for auction. These Valdivia figures are among some of the oldest in pre-columbian and South American history. The Valdivian Culture wasn't even discovered until the mid 1950's. Considering that their culture dates from 3500-1800, it's amazing that no one knew about them until 50 years ago. These are small but detailed little beauties. Some archaeologists think that each one was made to specifically represent someone. I purchased these about 10 years ago from an old collection. They are guaranteed ancient. I use the half dollar for size comparison only and it is not included in this auction. I can combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

Mayan Stone Head Found In Cenote Pre-Columbian Ancient Artifact #2 NR
Hi. I have an interesting Mayan stone head found in a sacred well for auction. This awesome ancient artifact was recovered from a cenote near Ticul, Yucatan in Mexico. This stone head has protruding ears and nose, the way they should naturally. In order for them to this on stone, they had to remove all the other stone from around it. Considering that they were using stone tools makes it even more incredible. This is the larger of two heads that I am auctioning. I believe this to be Mayan, but it could be from the later Toltecs. I purchased these several years ago from a private collection. All the items I sell are guaranteed as described. Or you can return it for your money back.
