PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY WHISTLE ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a large authentic Pre Columbian pottery. Terra cotta, whistle/ ocarina from ecuador. Jamacoaque ... morefrom a private collection dating 350 B C- 1200 A D. This is not a reprodution. The front has a human head on what sems to be the front of a jaguar with paw feet. It tapers to a rounded point and has a handle. The face has excellent detail with deep set eyes with brow ridges, earrings, very prominent nose ring and an open mouth with pointed teeth. The teeth give it a rather frightening appearance no doubt intentional. The nose is not damaged but obscured by the thick nose ring that hangs down onto the top lip. The head with a headdress and side lappets. There is a hole at the back end and one in back of the head. The body is clear but I believe there is still debris in the head as IT WILL NOT TWEET. I did not want to try to dislodge debris and damage the holes. It measures 4 1/2 inches long and approx 4 1/4 inches high and rests on two paw feet. Clay color is a buff color not quite as dark as in the photos. I am saying Jamacoaque but it was in with Jamacoaque and also La Tolita fragments and I am not an expert. It is in very good condition with some chips to the side lappets that are not evident from the front but I have the damage pictured. I see evidence of an old repair or restoration on the front legs as there is a thin line that extends over to the back(see photos) However. I do not see evidence of a clean break all around and I do not see any type of glue in the lines. The clay color is very consisent and the restoration or repair was done a long time ago in Ecuador and not by the private collector who brought them back years ago. There seems to be no evidence of trying to hide the breaks unless they were cracks and the piece was not broken or separated. Other pieces in the collection had repairs and evidence of glue and some of these are in my other listings. I have close up photos of the lines or breaks that i have darkened a bit in the photos to show

PRE COLUMBIAN FIGURE MEXICO FEMALE POTTERY CLAY 7 INCHES AUTHENTIC ANCIENT
PRE COLUMBIAN FEMALE FIGURE POTTERY MEXICO AUTHENTIC ANCIENT This Mexican Pre Columbian pottery female figure is 7 inches high and is possibly a variant of Jalisco or Nayarit but I am not an expert and cannot be sure of the culture. It will not stand by itself and is supported for the photos. Iti s missing an arm. Lower leg and foot and another foot. or whatever it had at the ends of the legs) The arm is complete with no hand just a rounded structure. Ears and nose are abnormally large with the head sloping backwards at an angle. Minute reflective crystaline structures in the clay and dark areas that seem to be manganese deposits. There is a slight chip on the back of the head. This is an authentic figure and not a reproduction and I have had it for over 40 years. Figure would look well mounted and standing upright.

Ancient Pre Columbian Proto Classic Nayarit Pottery Warrior Figure - 100 BC
A large and imposing ancient pre-Columbian Nayarit terracotta figure of a warrior. Dating to the Proto-Classic period, 100 BC– 250 AD. The standing male figure is shown naked. Coloured with a deep ochre pigment and wearing only a series of arm rings, prominent belt and pointed cap. Supported on enormous claw-like feet, the broad, square torso imbues him with the physical makeup of a warrior. One arm is raised brandishing a club, the other extended slightly forward and bent at the elbow, holding a small shield. The head is marked by sunken almond eyes, a prominent nose and parted lips revealing large grinding teeth. The ears and nose are pierced with multiple rings, a painted necklace is also present. The staring eyes are disturbing and discordant. Yet almost impossible to tear away from. An overpowering wrath bleeds from the very fabric of ... morethis striking warrior. There is something visceral in his bearing, defying reason, he appears in a seemingly trance-like fury, speaking to a very ancient place inside our psyche. Nayarit figures form part of the mysterious shaft tomb culture of ancient western Mexico. Displaying all aspects ancient life, from ritual ceremonies to grand feasts, warriors to simple family scenes. While the subject matter was relatively consistent throughout the entire region, style distinctions are present. This figure is of Nayarit's Ixtlán del Río style, the westernmost of all Nayarit sites, which is characterized by highly stylized facial features and thick, stocky limbs. Little is known about ancient Nayarit life beyond these enigmatic figures and the society itself remains a mystery. The discordant facial expressions of figures such as this have in some quarters been advanced as evidence of shamanism. Haunting and intense. Their true identity remains lost in the distant, unknown past. Height: 27 ½ inches. Condition: Very good. Minor restoration throughout, including to right arm and foot, one toe missing(as shown) head reattached. Beautiful pigment preservation, overall goo

PRE COLUMBIAN AUTHENTIC ECUADOR OWL BIRD POTTERY FIGURE
PRE COLUMBIAN OWL FIGURE FROM ECUADOR A rather realistic pottery owl figure. Authentic pre columbian and not a reproductionl. From a private collection. It measures 4 inches high and is 2 1/4'inches across the chest. There is a 1/2 inch hole in the top of the head that seems to large for a firing hole and may suggest this is some kind of container. There are also two larger round circles on the back that suggest the possibility of a handle. The figure is hollow from the top to the bottom. It is free standing and has the head looking at a downward angle. Very detailed eyes and beak with two circles on each side of the head suggesting something is missing. It has two complete wings but part of the tail is missing as well as a portion of the feet. The color of the clay is light tan all over with scattered deposits. There is also a small ... morecrack under the base of the tail n the back. Even with this damage the figure is quite complete and in one piece with no repairs. It was in with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments but I cannot possitively identify the culture as I am not an expert.
Pre-Columbian Pottery Vessel Costa Rica Animal Figure.
I am listing for a friend. If you need more information, or would like to make an offer, please send a message. Pre-Columbian Pottery Tripod with Animal figure. My friend acquired her pottery in Costa Rica in 1972 when it was still legal to take them out of the country. At that time, the pieces were taken to the National Museum in Costa Rica where they authenticated them and granted permission for them to leave the country. Unfortunately the paperwork was lost. I guarantee these to be authentic pre-Columbian era. I am listing for my friend, but I misplaced my notes on size, etc. I think it's about 4" wide. Please let me know if you are interested and I will have the owner answer all questions you may have. Posted with

There are no visible arms but there are human feet. The figure measures 3 1/2 inches tall and has a wingspan of 4 inches. It stands perfetly flat with the head bent slightly forward looking down. It needs no support to stand as the feet are flat. There is one hole in the base. The back is un decorated and has a broken tail. In spite of the damage the majority of the figure is in excellent condition with ... moreno cracks and nice detail. Some slight rough edges on the top of the head that does not alter the shape. PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR JAMACOAQUE POTTERY SHAMAN FIGURE SITTING MALE AUTHENTIC
PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY SHAMAN MALE FIGURE JAMACOAQUE This figure is an authentic Pre Columbian figure of a seated Shaman from Ecuador attributed to the Jamacoaque culture dating from 500 A.D. 1000 A.D. I am not an expert and there are so many variations on the dates. The figure is 6 inches tall and approximately 3 inches across the shoulders and is seated on a round pedestal seat with a diameter of 1 5/8 inches. Nice detail on the head and face surrounded by a headdress missing one corner. The figure has the tongue sticking out in a grotesque expression and is wearing a necklace and an elaborate costume. There are bracelets on the wrists snd ankles. It looks like some sort of cloth apron covering the front of the figure. Color of the clay is a light tan throughout with scattered dark areas of mineral deposit. The clay also has tiny reflective ... morecrystal formations. I have darkened the first images to show detail. It will stand by itself only briefly as I have only supported it for one side photo. It will definitely need support for display as the front of the left leg is missing. You can see that the remaining back of the right foot holds the figure erect with the head bent slightly forward as only the front part of the foot is missing. Part of the fingers on the right hand are missing and the right leg with part of the apron attached has been glued on. Not too bad a job as the edges meet. Refer to the close up photos. There is a large hole in the top of the head and two round circles where something is definitely missing. No damage to the remainder of the body with a few nicks here and there on some edges to be expected. Even with this damage it is an impressive figure that will display nicely as is on a stand or possibly a candidate for professional resotration if you so desire. Pre-Columbian Pottery Costa Rica Tripod Vessel w/ Rattle-Leg, Animal Figure
I'm selling for a friend. If you have any questions. Please contact! Inside one of the legs is a ball so that it will make rattling sounds when shaken. I assume they all once had a rattle. Ancient Pre Columbian Nayarit Painted Pottery Warrior Figure - 100 BC
An ancient pre-Columbian Nayarit figure of a warrior. Dating to the proto-Classic period, 100 BC- 250 AD. A long serpent-like face. Grinning through the fleshy lips, with a set of prominent teeth and the eyes set impossibly wide on the head– there is something discordant, even monstrous about this figure. Each component seems at odds with the other; be it the gaunt expression with the broad muscular torso or the thick-set legs with the emaciated arms. Yet to dismiss the art of the Nayarit as unaccomplished is to miss its purpose; these figures were never meant to be beautiful, they were meant to convey a sense of power. Standing on claw-like feet, brandishing a short knife and decorated with a deep ochre pigment, this warrior has an undeniable energy, an energy that seems to bleed from the clay itself. Nayarit figures form part of the mysterious ... moreshaft tomb culture of ancient western Mexico. Displaying all aspects of ancient life, from ritual ceremonies to grand feasts, warriors to simple family scenes. Little is known about ancient Nayarit life beyond these enigmatic figures and the society itself remains a mystery. The discordant facial expressions of figures such as this have in some quarters been advanced as evidence of shamanism. Haunting and intense, their true identity remains lost in the distant, unknown past. Height: 23 ¾ inches. Condition: Very good. Restored from fragments with some overpainting. Losses to proper left arm and nose. Exhibited: Princeton. Princeton University Art Museum, The Stanley J. Seeger Jr. Collection. 1961, no.153, illustrated. Published: Kelleher. P.J. 1961. The Stanley J. Seeger Jr. Collection. Princeton University Press: Princeton. Provenance: From the collection of Mr S. Seeger. Mr Seeger was a well-known art collector with a keen eye and ample financial means. This piece was exhibited. Along with other examples of his Pre-Columbian art, at Princeton University in 1961. Ancient Pre-Columbian Nayarit Pottery Seated Female Fertility Figure - 100 BC
A high quality. Particularly vibrant ancient west Mexican Nayarit figure, dating to the proto-Classic period, around 100 BC- 100 AD. Sitting upon a two legged stool. The naked figure stares out into the distance through the hollow slits of her eyes, the mouth held open. She clutches her sides in the pose typical of Nayarit female figures, the gaunt features of the face contrasting with the broad body and exaggerated breasts. Her hair tied up into an elaborate coiffure, she wears three spools in each ear and a thick collar around the neck. This is not only an enchanting piece of pre-Columbian art. It tells the story of Nayarit ritual practices and traditional beliefs. We can see the notion of the earth as the great creator and sustainer of humanity, the fertility of the soil touched by the stool is conflated with the fertility of the woman ... moreseated upon it. This idea of shared fertility between the earth and female members of society is still held in some traditional South/Central American societies, where women alone appear in the fields to carry out the first planting of the season. For further reading on the subject. Please see: Townsend. R.F. ed. 1998. Ancient West Mexico: Art and Archaeology of the Unknown Past. Chicago: Art Institute of Chicago. Height: 16 5/8 inches. Condition: Excellent. With encrustations, intact and unrestored. Provenance: Formerly in the US collection of Harry and Elinor Lynn. Acquired from the Hokin Gallery, Palm Beach, Florida on the 9th January, 1975(the original invoice from this sale will be included to the new purchaser upon request) Mr Harry Lynn(1916– 2006) was perhaps best known as the owner of the Washington Coliseum when the Beatles performed their first U.S. concert there on the 11th of February 1964. Lynn was born in Kansas City but spent most of his childhood in Omaha. During World War II he joined the Army and was stationed in France and England. Moving to Washington D.C. in 1948. pre-Columbian bird man figure ceramic wTL test Doc! Mayan pottery Priest RARE
You are bidding on a ceramic of the Maya culture in the form of a bird. It is also possible that it is a bird man. A priest in the bird costume. Striking is the upscale head, a position of power, and the large comb headdress. The massive bill is the reference to a bird of prey. Originally a pipe, through the centuries a hole on the belly is created. The surface is changed due to age, scratches and crashes. Maya ceramics are highly sought after, partly because many have not received as many ceramics, as in the Peruvian cultures that are part of the basic climatic conditions and often sacrificed to the Mayan ceramics by ritual destruction. See the price inclusive the lab test. Unbeatable! Culture: Maya. 600-900AD Classic Period Price Offers welcome! Age: 1200 years old. TL tested, new Test Document 2014 inclusive! I have a few of these so will soon be posting more! Some say REPLICA on the bottom and others do not. Huacos of Peru The main language of the Andean people is Quenhuan. Prior to the Pre-Columbian(Pre-Hispanic) period of Peru. Ceremonial pottery was buried with the dead. PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY SEATED FEMALE FIGURE JAMACOAQUE AUTHENTIC
PRE COLUMBIAN FIGURE ECUADOR JAMACOAQUE This is an authentic pottery Jamacoaque seated figure from Ecuador. Although small. 3 1/4" high, it still has nice detail and is very three dimensional. It seems to be a seated female wearing an elaborate headdress, necklaces and large ear plugs. The hands are resting on the knees and are worn and she is missing the tips of both feet. The figure has the characteristic ritually deformed head seen in the side and back photographs. The nose is worn but the facial features are still quite visible. It will stand by itself as the bottom is flat. There is no decoration on the back which is completely smooth. The color of the clay is beige and uniform in color. It will display nicely when lit from above as the details show better with shadows rather than straight on face front. The colored cloth was an ... moreexperiment but it also make the details more distinct. The figure is from a private collection and has not been cleaned. Mayan Whistle Figure Ancient Pottery Artifact Ex-Gallery Pre-Columbian NR
Hi. I have a great Mayan figure whistle for auction. This is a Mayan Dignitary wearing a jaguar hat. He has large ear spools and a neck wrap. He is a portly fellow. I purchased this from Arte Primitivo, the Howard Rose Gallery. There is a picture included of the piece in the auction catalog. It was the July 17, 2006 Catalog Page 12#30. They cam from the Imre and Nicholas T. Molnar collection that they accumulated from 1960-1978. This is a very unique artifact. I haven't seen one quite like this. The whistle is broken. This is a quality artifact that could be the center of any collection. The half dollar is for size comparison only and is not included in this auction. I combine shipping. Thanks for looking.
