PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY WHISTLE ECUADOR AUTHENTIC This is a large authentic Pre Columbian pottery. Terra cotta, whistle/ ocarina from ecuador. Jamacoaque ... morefrom a private collection dating 350 B C- 1200 A D. This is not a reprodution. The front has a human head on what sems to be the front of a jaguar with paw feet. It tapers to a rounded point and has a handle. The face has excellent detail with deep set eyes with brow ridges, earrings, very prominent nose ring and an open mouth with pointed teeth. The teeth give it a rather frightening appearance no doubt intentional. The nose is not damaged but obscured by the thick nose ring that hangs down onto the top lip. The head with a headdress and side lappets. There is a hole at the back end and one in back of the head. The body is clear but I believe there is still debris in the head as IT WILL NOT TWEET. I did not want to try to dislodge debris and damage the holes. It measures 4 1/2 inches long and approx 4 1/4 inches high and rests on two paw feet. Clay color is a buff color not quite as dark as in the photos. I am saying Jamacoaque but it was in with Jamacoaque and also La Tolita fragments and I am not an expert. It is in very good condition with some chips to the side lappets that are not evident from the front but I have the damage pictured. I see evidence of an old repair or restoration on the front legs as there is a thin line that extends over to the back(see photos) However. I do not see evidence of a clean break all around and I do not see any type of glue in the lines. The clay color is very consisent and the restoration or repair was done a long time ago in Ecuador and not by the private collector who brought them back years ago. There seems to be no evidence of trying to hide the breaks unless they were cracks and the piece was not broken or separated. Other pieces in the collection had repairs and evidence of glue and some of these are in my other listings. I have close up photos of the lines or breaks that i have darkened a bit in the photos to show

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT JAMACOAQUE This is a very expressive piece of authentic Pre Columbian pottery with a very realistic face almost ... moreGrecian looking. Very heavily lidded eyes in a peaceful expression. The figure is wearing a headdress that is more like a cap over the hair with decorative earrings that have deep notches with some remaining red paint. Hopefully these are not the ears. It looks like button earrings in front and the figure has a nose ring and a lip plug. The back shows the remains of part of a necklace. It measures 2 1/2 inches high and will stand upright by itself as the circular base with a hole in it is flat. The head is hollow and has evidence of heavy black mineral deposits on one side. Basic clay color is a gray beige. There are also traces of red paint on the face. Keep in mind that this is not a burnished surface and the texture is rough and the close up photos are to show condition. At a regular viewing distance the head seems more normal looking and the condition is very good with very little damage and no repairs. It is from a private collection and is Jamacoaque culture.

striking! I really don’t have a lot of information about this carved statue. It looks to be in the Olmec style and appears to be quite old. I think the ... morematerial might be Mexican onyx or maybe alabaster. Or it could be something else. The head is a little large. With a bulbous shape in the back. The ears are pierced. As well as the corners of the mouth and he is wearing a simple loincloth. Approximate Measurements: 9”H x 3½”W In good condition for its age. The arms are broken off. Guaranteed 100% 30 day guarantee to be authentic pre Columbian pottery. I bought a collection, the collectors are no longer with us so I'm having a difficult ... moretime with it but I'm sure it's all old. I probably won't list it all at once, but it's all pre Columbian and guaranteed to be so. I won't lie about regions or centuries because I don't know all that and don't have time to become an expert.Selling 4 pieces, they're all four very heavy like store, but appear to be made from clay. The larger 5" head appears intact, the other pieces seem to be missing limbs possibly.

Pre-Columbian Manabi, Ecuador Black Clay Spindle Whorl Bead Necklace, 36 Beads
Several ancient Pre-Columbian/Pre-Incan civilizations lived along the southern Manabi coast of Ecuador. They survived by living on what the sea provided them. And by trading textiles and goods with the interior tribes. Textiles(woven fabrics) were a huge part of their culture. The finest textiles were status symbols for the elite. And they fetched high value trade goods. Spindle whorls were a vital part of ancient life. As they were necessary tools in the production of clothing and fine textiles for trade. They acted as a weight which steadied the spindle that made thread from Alpaca wool. Cotton, and Vicuna wool, a type of small camel. The 36 whorls were created from the black clay found in this region. And each whorl was skillfully carved with a bird, frog, fish, turtle, or other ancient design. They are in fantastic condition. Which is ... moreremarkable considering they are so ancient, dating from about 200 B.C. to 500 A.D. The whorls were made into a 26.5" necklace in the early 1960's. With brass spacer beads placed between them. This remarkable necklace is a genuine South American antiquity. A glimpse into the lives of a civilization long since gone. Each whorl is an ancient artifact that can be worn together and admired as a unique and fascinating piece of jewelry. Please visit my store to see the many wonderful items I have there for sale!

Pre-Columbian Clay Bead w/ Face ~ From an old collection!
Greeting Fellow Kollectors! Up for sale are from my most recent finds! This wonderful hand formed clay bead came from a wonderful estate of a man who was described by his widow as a'an amateur Indian Jones of sorts' He was an early film documentary film maker who travelled and explored all over the world and hence where his extensive collection of interesting and amazing artifacts came from. This clay bead was told to me to be Pre-Columbian in origin as the original owner had a vast collection of such artifacts. Collected in the 50's and 60's. It has a wonderful patina and is carved with by a skilled artisan hand. The item looks very ancient and there are no signs of modern tooling. Amazing detail for such a small bead. It has a lovely face as a design. I am not an expert and have no paper work to accompanying any of the pieces ... morefrom this collection. But based on the story of the former owner's widow, I believe them to be old. He also wears a large stone"yoke" around the neck, a type worn by ball players! There's a large hole through the chest which was likely made by pushing a stick through the wet clay before firing. This was likely a ritual killing of an image of an enemy, or athletic rival, much like a voodoo killing in a modern context. Zolapan figures were almost always devoid of headdresses and earspools, as is this one. As is it's in excellent condition. It's from ... morethe Joe Magor, Chicago, IL, collection, collected in the 1960's. My Feedback Profile and eBay preferred seller reputation attest to my integrity and honesty. Authentic Pre-Columbian Clay Medicine Vial/Ampule from Ecuador. Engraved! AACA

Antiques, Fine Collectibles Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Pre-Columbian Ecuador Clay Medicine Vial Small Terracotta Medicine Vial or Ampule Jama-Coaque Culture of Coastal Lowlands Shaman Container with Engraving c. 300 BC—300 AD Normal 0 false false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This small. Terracotta vessel or vial was made by the Jama-Coaque people on the ancient Northern coast of what is now Ecuador, in the province of Manabi. It is made of gray clay with incised pictographs etched into the sides and is estimated to be about 2.000 years old! The best-known aspects of the Jama-Coaque culture are its ceramic vessels and figurines probably made for ritual purposes. Named for the modern towns of Jama and Coaque in the northern coastal lowlands of Ecuador's Manabí Province. They ... moredefine its archaeological limits. Jama Coaque figures share similarities with other coastal sites of the period, but are often more richly clothed and elaborately adorned. Depicting warriors, musicians, hunters, and dancers, the figures were mold-made and have appliqué decorations that were made in smaller molds. This small vial appears to be quite rare. This small vessel measures only about 1.9” 49 mm) in length x.62” 16 mm) in diameter. The hole in the center of the clay vial measures about 1.7” 43 mm) deep and with an inside diameter of.32” 8 mm) Please see photos as perhaps they best show the beauty of this small vessel. The top half of the vial has geometric and/or pictographic lines etched into the clay. I do not know if the characters are just geometric or if they do indeed signify what the vial or ampule contained or what its purpose was in the Mayan culture. Did once contain a powder or liquid—a medicine or poison? We do know that shamans performed ceremonies and offerings to communicate with the spirits to heal the sick and solve community problems. A human transformed into feline is the best way to introduce a shaman in the Upper-world. Shaman sought to curry fav
