Pre-Columbian NICARAGUA/COSTA RICA BOWL LEG HEAD 60mm/2.4" PAINTED Ppd-USA
POSTPAID IN USA! PRE-COLUMBIAN PAINTED CERAMIC HEAD FRAGMENT and BOWL LEG. 60mm or 2-3/8"h, Probably from Nicaragua or Costa Rica One Pre-Columbian Painted Ceramic Head Fragment 60mm or 2-3/8" high. With features that may be that of a monkey with black mask, red mouth and ears. This would have been one of probably 3(making it a tripod bowl) or possibly 4 legs supporting a bowl. It would rest on the chin area and the bowl would be attached on the ridge atop the head and the back of the head(that area is open now) Imagine that ridge on the head as parallel to the ground to see the level that the head would have been at. The bowl would have been 6 to 8 inches in diameter and also painted in similar colors. There is some chipping on the nose, upper lip and under the ears/headdress. Many objects that are offered as from Costa Rica actually ... morecome from Nicaragua as they are similar due to the fact that those people did not have the modern borders as we know them today. The cultures crossed those lines well before they were established. There are a lot of people who collect Costa Rica but not too many collect Nicaragua. And the Caribbean coast of Colombia has evidence of ceramics from at least 2500 BCE. Recent investigations in Chengue, Parque Tairona by the Colombian archaeologist Alejandro Dever show significant variations in the ceramic that allow for a chronological division of sequence into at least five phases. The first phase, called Nahuange 1, appears to start at around 200 BCE and ends at around 500 CE when there appears to be a peak in the population. A second phase spans from 500 CE to about 900 CE; it can be called Nehuange 2, and was called Buritaca after detailed excavations by Jack Wynn in the 1970s. From c. 900 CE began what is commonly called the Tairona period, characterized by an impressive increase in the variation, size and number of ceramic forms, many conserving the styles from the Nehuange or Buritaca phases. The Tairona 1 through 3 phases, from 900 to 1650, show significant local variations. This was shown by numerous works done in the 1980s by Colombian archaeologists Augusto Oyuela, Carl Langebaek, Luisa Fernand

Pre-Columbian MAYAN CERAMIC BOWL, 10" dia. 3 leg, very Nice piece, Pot Bowl ?
I know little to nothing about this wonder part of history but I did sell a large Mayan collection some 20 years ago on Ebay with nothing but happy customers. I know enough to judge the real thing which this is. I respectfully offer this and some other pieces of art& history on Ebay. I know nothing about what figure this represents. Figure seems to have long horns to me. These are from an Estate I bought from a gentleman who worked for Halliburton traveling the world for 50 years looking for places to dig for oil. Please view my other listings. If somebody wanted all at one price I could chat about that. I will double box all of these pieces so they make their travel safely. Please note: this bowl has many little flaws due to age and who knows why. Please email with any questions. Thank you! approximate size 10" diameter. 7 inches ... moretall

Inca Treasures Pre Columbian style pottery bowl artifact Terraca Mexico art
A very unique and unusual Pre Columbian style pottery artifact with a village specific design. Different old villages in Mexico have produced design patterns unique to their villages and often the village can be identified by the pattern. This coffee bean design matches another that I purchased online from a different unrelated source and both have this design. The only two pieces like this I have seen. I researched this and it appears to be the same pattern and is old and from a village in Mexico. These patterns may endure for years. This is an antique piece and is in shape of a vessel or bowl. The pattern of this and the other Pre Columbian style both have strong color with a coffee bean motif. I am not exactly certain of the age and my estimate is it is from the mid 1850s to early 1930s. The two dishes make a nice twosome if bought together. ... moreThe other vessel is a bowl on my site. Folk art piece from Mexico. Nice piece for collector of pre Columbian pottery or folk art pottery art. Culture: Mexico CA: approx. 1950 to 1930s size 61/2 in diameter at top and 6 inches high Please view pictures and ask questions. See my other Pre Columbian pottery. Pre Columbian Artifact, Turtle Bowl , Clay
This is a Pre Columbian Clay"Turtle Bowl"at least I have always called it a turtle bowl because that is what it looks like to me. I bought this at a de-acquisition sale from the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History in 1971. They indicated at the time it was from a Central/South American dig.and that is all I know about it. The vase is in excellent condition.considering its age and all it has been through. It has a few hairline cracks in about three areas.but other than.very good. It is 6.50" high. 9.50" in diameter, and 5" deep bowl. It has three legs and a small turtle head with the very tip end broken off. In the middle section, just above the legs there is a band of etchings/markings that shows up just slightly in the 5th photo. I am downsizing and wishing to find a good home for this beautiful piece of history. ... moreIt needs to be out where it can be enjoyed and not packed away in a box which is where it has been since I bought it. I have several other pieces from the same sale listed.so please check those out also. The price I have this item listed for is what I paid for it in 1971. I will be happy to try and answer any questions you might have. Thanks for looking and in advance for your bid consideration.
