Rare Mughal Manuscript Persian Tafseer-i-Husaini from Emperor Aurangzeb's Era
An extremely rare Mughal manuscript(from the period of Aurangzeb) Tafsir-e-Husaini(Explanation of the Quran) by Mullah Hussain Waiz Kashfi. Important to note that this explanation of the Koran is written primarily from the Shi'a perspective and is in Persian with prolific use of Arabic. Further: 1) This manuscript was copied in the 40th year of Aurangzeb rule(corresponding to 1107 Hijri or 1695 AD) by Ahmad Bin Hussain Bin Ahmed Lari. The calligrapher belongs to Abdul Razzaq Lari family. Abudl Razzaq Lari was a big"mansabdar" in the dynasty of Adil Shahi of Bijapur. 2) The owner of this manuscript was Murad Khan. Son of Shirza Khan. Shirza Khan was appointed to a"mansab" of 7000 by Emperor Aurangzeb. 3) Zulfiqar Ali Khan was summoned from Mecca by Emperor Aurangzeb in order to fight against the Marathas. Please check all our pics for full details: this primitive work of art. A little bit"naive" if you will, is a very detailed, very bright painting made on a page of a book. If the book is a manuscript or is something made in a rudimentary printing press, we can't tell. It seems to us is rather"printed" than actually written by hand, but we are no experts. The paper where the text was written and the painting made is quite old, it seems to us. The page was cut from a book. It seems, and used as a work or art. It has been placed in a matte that allows only the painting to be seen, but the handwritten text is on the back. We disassemble the frame and took pics of the back of the painting so you see the handwritten text. And took pics of it, so you can read it as well, if you can read the language(it looks like Arabic to ... moreus, but we understand this type of miniatures were made in Persia, so it might other similar, but not Arabic, language. The script is in the Nasta'liq style and represents the highest development of the calligrapher's art.
