This is a framed music sheet in Latin from the 16 th century. The music is handwritten in black and red on both sides of the vellum. The sheet itself is 14 ¾ inches by 19 ½ inches. It is in a wood frame that is 17 ½ by 21 ½ inches. The corner of the music has been torn off and there is some soiling. There are no other issues. This piece does come in a frame. This is a deed(known as an Indenture) recording a lease in a document dated 2nd November 1878(written on vellum) of a property- a piece of building ground-part of a farm at Llantrissant Glamorgan made between Vaughan Lee and White Phillips- the picture is of the folded cover- it opens up to 21 by 27" suitable for framing and making an excellent talking point for a house/lounge/dining room wall. It bears a lovely wax seal. A wonderful example of beautiful handwriting- itself a dying art-must have taken hours if not days- and don't make a mistake! Please look carefully these are VERY OLD they are not in perfect condition because they are 200-400 + years old. 1st one is a Morell-Fecerunt Map of Alsatia Milliaria Germania it is a stunning map with amazing craftsmanship in the engraving and there isn't another for sale anywhere. 2nd we have a 1690 Coronelli map of Germania it is a beautiful map and speaks volumes to the craftsman's abilities this is a hard to find map. 3rd we have a 1695 Rob Morden map of England this one jumps right out at you with it's simple but amazing engravings as with the others this is a rare map and hard to find. The 4th map says Ric Blome Map of West Moreland. Ric Blome honorably ... morededicated this map to Sir John Lowther of Lowther Hall. After some searching I found some info on him. Sir John Lowther was a captain and commander during the Scottish border wars and was also the High Sheriff 1516,1543,1551 additionally he was the commander of Carlisle Castle and he lived from 1487-1551 this is a rare find. This is an early 19th C. hand-painted/ vellum over birch tambourine. It is 6 7/8 inches in diameter and 1 5/8 in height. Cartwheel- like" dot pattern design may be from plant dyes or primitive paints. Tambourine is complete and totally original. This pale blue parchment has wonderful raggy edges. The pages are bound together with waxed twine. The outer vellum has script on both sides and is dated 1755; the inner pages are questions/notes on mathematics- and are dated 1802. 25 of the pages the have script on both sides. The old sepia script is superbly scrolled and curled and the back page has a wonderful scrolled signature. The old paper has a fabulous appeal and is in wonderful condition for its 258 years of age. This is an original antique document printed on vellum with manuscript. Pen& ink writing and autograph signatures dated 1904. The document measures 19 X 18 inches and is in good/ fair condition due to minor foxing spots. Surface soiling, a small damp stain on the left edge slight wrinkling, a very small loss in the upper left corner and a small(2cm) tear on the top edge. The document reads in part"The State of Maryland. To Walter D. Young of Baltimore Esq. Greeting: Be it Known That reposing especial trust and confidence in your Fidelity. This book was purchased from the estate of a man who collected Californian artifacts from the Spanish Mission era. It seems to be in great condition for it's age. There is some writing but it is very old. There is also a small doodle on one page which I find very amusing(I can just imagine a bored monk trying to look busy. Something any math student can relate to) I see no evidence of rebinding or repair. This was an important transitional work. This book was full of innovations including the first use of symbols to represent variables. Many famous mathematicians used this book. Please see condition description. TEXT BLOCK: As the binding is so tight. And the covers have not been cracked open fully, I don't think this book was read much, if at all. There is what appears to be an inked seal stamp on the title page(see photo) Some scattered minor foxing, otherwise very clean throughout. ... moreNOT ex-library. COMMENTS: You will not find another copy of the first edition for sale on the Internet! A search of WorldCat found a copy in the holdings of the British Library only. I found no auction records going back decades. This copy is in investment quality condition. Hubert Le Blanc was a French viol player. Doctor of law and abbé. Strongly regretting that viol playing was falling out of fashion, he wrote the treatise Défense de la basse de viole contre les enterprises du violon et les prétentions du violoncelle, which was published in Amsterdam by Pierre Mortier in 1740. Those who have written about him are unanimous in considering him an eccentric: his German translator(Erhard, 1951) called him"a somewhat sarcastic old gentleman" his English translator(Jackson, 1973) said he had a"colorful and eccentric personality" his only biographer(Fétis, 1863) tells us that when he learned that his treatise was to be published in Amsterdam, he was so transported with joy that he set off immediately(presumably from Paris) attired as he was when he received the news, in bathrobe, slippers, and nightcap. Antique Victorian Vellum Mortgage Shares Indenture c1882 This is for an antique Victorian vellum indenture relating to a mortgage and the security of shares for the mortgage. Dated 4th November 1882. Comprising two large sheets of vellum, this large document describes a mortgage agreement between Henry Wood of Westminster, London, and Edward John Bridgman of the City of London, under the will of William Binns Wood, of Barbican, London, using shares from the will for security including; Liverpool London and Globe Office annuities Bank Stock The London Brighton and South Coast Railway Company. The indenture has a red seal. A 10 shilling tax revenue stamp, and another stamp totaling two pounds and ten shillings. The front cover is dated 4th November 1882. That is the bible reference is put at the top of the page, the bible quotation in the form of a rebus fills most of the page, and a two-line verse is put underneath. A later edition(first 1720) of this very popular dutch picture book. Containing 140 of the original 150 plates. Some handcoloring of a few plates, a few small tears. Vellum green stained, with some wear as shown, some staining throughout b ut nothing major. All pages bound. Very scarce!

Anglicised as Tertullian(c. 160–c. 225 AD) was a prolific early Christian author from Carthage in the Roman province of Africa. He is the first Christian author to produce an extensive corpus of Latin Christian literature. He also was a notable early Christian apologist and a polemicist against heresy. Tertullian has been called"the father of Latin Christianity" and"the founder of Western theology.Though conservative, he did originate and advance new theology to the early Church. He is perhaps most famous for being the oldest extant Latin writer to use the term Trinity(Latin, trinitas) and giving the oldest extant formal exposition of a Trinitarian theology. This is an ANTIQUE rare. Finely hand PAINTED ON VELLUM, FAN, possibly ITALIAN. Showing a BIBLICAL SCENE( Moses saved from waters) the BLOND HORN sticks pierced with FLORAL DECORATION. It's small sized. 17 cm high and 32 cm circa large when open. The painted scene is of EXCELLENT QUALITY. Revealing a skillful hand. Both sides are entirely and superbly painted, with ROCAILLES of GOLD and japanese styled FLOWERS and BUTTERFLIES As regards condition. The painted scene has no missing parts, just a BROWN SPOT on the low left. A previous restoration is evident through the paper sticks added on the back side( pictures show them) Just few chips on the horn sticks. A restoration is however suggested on vellum. Offered here is an original 285 years old manuscript on vellum- from the year 1728. A handwritten document on vellum- indenture relating to arable land and Meerings Farm. Waltham Park in the parish of Bishops Waltham. Between The Right Reverend Father in God Richard Willis. Bishop of Winchester and Walter Goodfellow of Ladbrook. Warwickshire. Dated 11th January 1728. With a partial signature of Goodfellow and a revenue stamp. Richard Willis(1664–1734) was an English bishop. Willis was born in Ribbesford. Worcestershire, where his father was a tanner. He was educated at Bewdley Grammar School and Wadham College, Oxford, where he matriculated in 1684 and graduated BA in 1688. He became a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Willis became a curate at Cheshunt and then. In 1692, lecturer at St Clement, Strand, where he acquired a reputation as ... morea preacher. In 1694 he was chaplain to King William III on a journey to the Netherlands. In 1701 Willis was appointed Dean of Lincoln and in 1714 Bishop of Gloucester. In 1721 he became Bishop of Salisbury and in 1723 Bishop of Winchester. There is a memorial to him in Winchester Cathedral. Willis was Lord High Almoner from 1718 to 1723. STUNNING ANTIQUE FRENCH MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENT DATED 1743 with SEAL OF A SEIGNEUR- DIVINE OLD WAXED VELLUM Please scroll down for more pictures. This superb antique French document manuscript is dated 24 October 1743 and retains its original wax. The waxed vellum pages are so tactile and the deep sepia script- simply enchanting! There are 8 double sided pages. All bound together with old waxed twine, each page measuring. This amazing manuscript appears to be a"denombrement" a census) written by a Monseur Charles Louis Raimond de GOUDIN. Chevalier[who is also shown as being a Lieutenant in the Royal Artillerie Regiment] and is Seigneur( see below) de LABORY, GILLOCOURT, BELLIVAL, PIERFITTE, MONTIGNY and others. The document appears to be addressed ... moreto a Monsieur Durand, Seigneur de Villegagnon( see below for his family tree) and perhaps to others as well. Seigneur- possessor of a lordship; strictly. It was neither a title nor a rank, merely indicating that the person lacked a noble title yet owned a piece of feudal land. It did not indicate that the"landlord" was noble, although prior to the 18th century most were. Generally referred to by sieur i.e. sir, followed by the name of the fief, as in sieur de Crenne. If you cast your eye over the link below. You will see that the French nobility had the right to possess a'fief' or'seigneurie' at least until 1789 when they were abolished at the beginning of the French Revolution! Reading further. It says: Much of the power of nobles in these periods of unrest comes from their"clientèle system" Like the king. Nobles granted the use of fiefs, and gave gifts and other forms of patronage to other nobles to develop a vast system of noble clients" I believe that this document is such a declaration. ETHIOPIAN Coptic BIBLE Manuscript ANTIQUE Handwritten GE'EZ Vellum OCCULT Icons
You are bidding on a true piece of Biblical history! Presenting a handwritten Coptic Ethiopian Bible w/ great aging throughout! Written in the Ethiopic(Ge'ez) script. A Semitic language that is no longer spoken, but is still used for liturgical and other religious purposes by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The subject of these"Bibles" are generally always Christian, but actual content varies. Dating Ethiopian manuscripts is very difficult as scribes copied old monastic manuscripts using the same materials as had been used for centuries, and have been as old as the 14th century; this carries many examples of an older age within, with original vellum animal skin pages, faded, browned, and aged, as shown, bound in hand sewn and attached wooden boards, wrapped in newer but quite attractive stamped cross and celtic style leather ... morewraps. We could loosely guess this one originated sometime c1700- late 1800s, with wear to the vellum as an indicator; the wraps probably added in the 1900s. A majority of the text are incantations to protect the owner from supernatural forces. Written in red/black. As shown, the red indicating sacred words spoken by the savior. The Bible also includes 4 gorgeously painted native hand painted icons, probably also painted over the leaves in the 1900s. This example is bound in square wooden boards. Leather wrapped; the covers tied through with twine. There is some definitive age to the interior of this example, and some staining, which is normal for these rare gems; this one undoubtedly hundreds of years old. There are roughly 27 leaves/54 pages in this, with the four icons, as shown. Obtained in an online auction direct from Ethiopia. Bible measures 3.75" x 2.75" x 1.25" thick. A True treasure. These have sold for $1,000s of dollars, and this particular copy has a true feeling of history and culture, especially with the aging and stained vellum, and is extremely rare and unique.
